Daft Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 I have a super high res picture, wasn't sure about posting it though because it's actually ridiculously huge. Can you put it in a spoiler? I wouldn't mind seeing it. I'm really looking forward to this. I loved Legend.
Jimbob Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 This is looking better and better everytime i see a new screen or read more info. Shall be looking into this more over the next few weeks/months
Razz Posted June 7, 2008 Author Posted June 7, 2008 Photobucket resized it down, I'll give you the link to the website instead. Clickage

Ryan Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 After Uncharted, I doubt I can even look at another Tomb Raider..
Razz Posted June 7, 2008 Author Posted June 7, 2008 To be honest, I loved Uncharted, but it's completely different to Tomb Raider. Uncharted is definitely not trying to be Tomb Raider and it's completely evident from the shooting mechanics. Uncharted is alot more gunplay oriented whereas Tomb Raider has always been about the tombs themselves.
Razz Posted June 7, 2008 Author Posted June 7, 2008 Yeah same and I'm really excited to see what they're pulling off in this game. All of Lara's moves have been mo-capped from an olympic gymnast! I'll find the source and some youtube videos of her. EDIT: Source for the motion capture use of a gymnast. Videos of Heidi Moneymaker, said gymnast:
Daft Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Thats pretty cool. I also loved the banter that Lara has with her team while you play out the levels. Especially when they are talking about the history and mythology behind the level you are in while you are playing through. Also I can't wait to find out what happens in the story. Legend ended on a goddamn cliffhanger!
Shorty Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 I just want a TR II remake Legend was enjoyable but I didn't really find mysef caring what happened next.
Daft Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 I'm not too keen on the remakes. I got Anniversary and I got a bit bored. I think I just preferred the level design in Legend.
Razz Posted June 7, 2008 Author Posted June 7, 2008 Yeah gotta agree with you there. Loved it up untill half way through Egypt when it just got really boring. Legend just had these awesome levels that just flowed, and looked great too.
Shorty Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Oh agreed, I quickly got bored of Anniversary. But TRII still ranks in as one of my favourite games ever. Bring back the same music and update the levels graphically without changing them too much and it would be something damned epic. Same voices, and the old mansion too! My main problem with the direction the TR games have taken is that it kind of follows the movies. Which is ridiculous really, since the movies are supposed to be based on the game, not vice versa. I want to see the old story and the old mansion, and the old lone wolf Lara Still I enjoyed both the recent outings. They weren't amazing, but they were enjoyable and a great and much needed progression for the series. This title though, I'll have to reserve judgement. So far it doesn't look like anything special.
Razz Posted June 7, 2008 Author Posted June 7, 2008 Yeah I see what you're getting at but I have to admit that the old formula was getting kind of stale, and Angel of Darkness just wasn't working great on the PS2. That said, my favourite Tomb Raider game is probably number 5. In my opinion it was asking for a revamp.
Daft Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Legends was the first TR I played properly (I played 1 and 3 and they never really grabbed me), partly because they got rid of the precision jumping, so I'm probably more than a tiny bit bias to it! Also I loved the variation in levels, like Tokyo and Ghana. The quick time events are awesome...especially the out takes reel that shows all her death animation, I lol so hard.
Razz Posted June 7, 2008 Author Posted June 7, 2008 Yeah that made me laugh alot too! Especially the one where she's on the top of the train in Kazakhstan, I couldn't breath!
Daft Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Haha! Thats the first one that came to mind!! One of the few games where I enjoyed dying.
Cube Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Yeah gotta agree with you there. Loved it up untill half way through Egypt when it just got really boring. Legend just had these awesome levels that just flowed, and looked great too. Also agreed. One of the few games where I enjoyed dying. It was disturbingly satisfying to purposely die.
Razz Posted June 8, 2008 Author Posted June 8, 2008 Just a question whats the deal with posting magazine scans? I have some of Official Playstation Magazine UK with more Tomb Raider shots and info but not sure wether to post them. For now here's the link to the source.
Columnar Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Can't wait for this game! I'm a HUGE TR fan although still undecided whether to get 'Underworld' for 360 or PS3. Knowing me though I'll end up getting both and the Wii version. Just got a 360 again for my BDay the other day and playing 'Legend' again this time in HD and it doesn't look too bad. Is 'Underworld' still on for Q4 08? and my favourite TR game is 'The Last Revelation'.
Retro_Link Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 Teaser Trailer: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/37014.html
Shorty Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 That teaser was as disappointing as many teasers are. I mean you'd have to be really into the series to give a crap about what she just did. I'd rather see in game footage please!
