D_prOdigy Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Giant WTF. This game seems so deep I don't know if I can play it. Trust me, Shibuya is so cool, you'll actually feel trendy for playing it.

Coolness Bears Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Olympic Gamer your overwhelming passion for this game inspires me to play this a whole lot more than I have done! :awesome: I still need to complete the game. I have already put loads of hours into mastering every pin I have. I haven't played the game for a while and plan to get a lot more done starting from tomorrow. I'm glad to see there is even more depth after you complete the game.
Olympic Gamer Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Well be sure to take your dirty spoilers with you as well, please. It actually isnt spoilery at all, they are just little sprites that appear next to your character when you save your game. If it was something truely important to the story and could very well ruin things, I would of spoilered them. I'm glad to see there is even more depth after you complete the game. Yeah, the story gets alot more depth via the secret reports, which involves reading for those of you who arent fond of it.

I love reading, No worries here! : peace: I spent ages just reading all the stuff in the games menu and what people were saying when I first got the game. I can't wait to get my teeth dug into them! (not to hard though I don't want to break my DS! :p)
Dyson Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 I already have Hollow Legs sticker - I was able to afford it as soon as I saw it. Not sure how I got it, mind! I guess I already had an Orichlalsamcmcucughchm. But I can't get the items for the Ultimate unlock - how do I get them?
Olympic Gamer Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 I already have Hollow Legs sticker - I was able to afford it as soon as I saw it. Not sure how I got it, mind! I guess I already had an Orichlalsamcmcucughchm. But I can't get the items for the Ultimate unlock - how do I get them? So thats 6 rare metals, 4 tektite and 2 Orichalcum.. For the Rare Metals, go to the Station Underpass on Easy, I think its the red frogs that drop them. Tektite is the same, but on Normal. And seeing as you arent on ultimate and you may preferably want Orichalcum dropped, go to Chapter 3 Day 7 and take out the frogs on hard in the Station Underpass and Trail of the Sinner (Dont bother going to Rubicon thats ahead of Trail of the Sinner, you might accidentally start the boss). Well I've finished the story (Still cant beat the final boss on anything above easy, jeez, gonna have to get some more pins)and wow. Without going into details, the secret reports unlock an extra scene just after the credits. Those who love being spoiled, read below It seems that Mr.Hanekoma was the producer which is interesting. He was basically an Angel and it was his job to over see the game between the Conductor and the Composer, how ever the only person he could frequently contact is the Composer but he was allowed to contact some of those in the game. It was Mr. Hanekoma who had also revived Sho Minamimoto, he initially twigged Sho's first attempt to revive (remember the picture Neku took with Hanekoma messing with the Taboo noise mark?), but decided to make a new revival mark as he thought if Sho atleast took on the role composer, there may be a chance that Shibuya would not be destroyed. However, at the end with the game with the guns, I didnt really understand what happend at first, it was cryptic, but the new ending explains it all. Just before they start the showdown, Josh notes that whoever wins gets to decide who shall be composer and he has already made his mind. As the countdown goes on, Neku begins crying on how he was betrayed by Josh, readies the gun and in the end refuses to shoot, thus Joshua shooting him. Joshua's choice to be the new composer? Neku Sakuraba. When I realised this, I actually felt pretty sad, Josh was a decent guy and realised Neku could change Shibuya as he went from a loner to some one who can trust so quickly. This ofcourse, could mean there is no sequel (Unless Neku turns evil yadda yadda)
D_prOdigy Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Anyone know how I can pick up Scarletitie? I seem to have run out...
Olympic Gamer Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Anyone know how I can pick up Scarletitie? I seem to have run out... You cant get it in drops, but at Shibu-Q Heads shops you can trade Dark Matter for it. Getting Dark Matter however.. Go to Chapter 1 Day 4 and chain battle Beat on ultimate to get one (low percetage though)
D_prOdigy Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 You cant get it in drops, but at Shibu-Q Heads shops you can trade Dark Matter for it. Getting Dark Matter however.. Go to Chapter 1 Day 4 and chain battle Beat on ultimate to get one (low percetage though) Oooh, I've also realised that you can get Dark Matter in the same Shibu-Q Heads shop by trading in Shadow Matter. Do you know if Shadow Matter is any easier to get? Sorry for this, but you have become the N-E, walking, talking, typing WEWY Walkthrough. We love you for your knowledge! :P
Olympic Gamer Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Oooh, I've also realised that you can get Dark Matter in the same Shibu-Q Heads shop by trading in Shadow Matter. Do you know if Shadow Matter is any easier to get? Sorry for this, but you have become the N-E, walking, talking, typing WEWY Walkthrough. We love you for your knowledge! :P You can get shadow matter by pretty much any taboo noise on ultimate. But they are very low probability drops. So chain as much as possible (Its very handy to have the item which increases how much you can chain) and you should increase your chances by alot. Also, if you ever get Joshua's defence pretty high, you can always try the boss fight with Minamimoto at Shibu Main Store (to right the right of 104) on ultimate. Chain battle with the boss fight first to make the boss fight easier and take out as much of the taboo noise as possible, each time one dies and you see a red coin drop from them, that means you have gotten a shadow matter. When they stop dropping, that means you've got 99 and you can proceed to finishing it all up etc. Thats just a tip I found on another site though, Im training Joshua's defence now.
Olympic Gamer Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Okay, I just have to post this. Did a 11 round reduction involving the battle with Sho on Week 2 Day 7 and even though my total rank for the 11 rounds was A rank, I gained 1608 PP. Fucking insane, all my pins on me were mastered. Also, that tip above about chain battling Sho for Shadow Matter? Absolutely brilliant, got 21 shadow matters even though I mainly targetted Sho. Freaky thing happend aswell, I was mingling around town and I stopped at burger king at some point, checked back and I had an Alien encounter with a burger picture that had the quote "Just what you needed", how coincidental, I wonder how these alien encounters work.
Dyson Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Wow, beating the red frogs on hard gives me a guaranteed Orichalcum, awesome. Where can I get the Scarletite? I need loads..
D_prOdigy Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Wow, beating the red frogs on hard gives me a guaranteed Orichalcum, awesome. Where can I get the Scarletite? I need loads.. Read up a couple of posts (they're pretty hard to get).
Tellyn Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 We all know Square Enix for creating some of the finest games in the videogame industry. However, recently they've been playing it safe by providing us with remakes and spin-offs of their older franchises, many of which have been released on the DS. It seems to me that every week there is a new variation of Final Fantasy of some sort... but I digress. The World Ends With You is a breath of fresh air for the DS and it's great to see Square Enix take a plunge into the deep end again and bring us what looks like it could be the beginning of a magnificent new franchise for them. The World Ends With You takes the old tried and tested formula from Square Enix's traditional RPGs, sticks it in a blender, and mixes it up a little by creating a fusion between Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts, stealing all the best parts from them and turning it into a new and refreshing experience. Firstly this game is set in modern day Tokyo and your adventure takes place in Shibuya, which is an overcrowded shopping district. Each area is vibrant and very colourful with recognisable buildings from the real Shibuya. When you first turn on the game you are met with a simple but impressive menu as the music kicks into gear straight away. You start off playing as Neku a lonely, antisocial 15 year old who dislikes everything and has amnesia. He hasn't got a clue who he is and why he is in Shibuya. So far it doesn't sound like anything that hasn't been done before and the character sounds like a walking cliché - complete with spiky hair - but the way in which the story slowly changes Neku as a person is truly fascinating to witness, and he immerses you completely into the game. The story revolves around this idea of survival as Neku quickly learns that he is in a "reapers" game and each day along with other people in the game he has to complete a set of challenges within a time limit or face erasure from existence. He is forced to team up with a girl called Shiki (who is obsessed with fashion) as it essential to have a partner. Neku and the others are invisible to the normal folk in Shibuya, though with a special pin he is able to read there minds. This offers a amusing little detour, as you can spend a few minutes just reading what people are thinking. I won't spoil any more of the story, but there are plenty of twists and turns along the way to keep the player thrilled with a slice of genuine emotion on the side. Emerald Emblem Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Finally got to the 3rd week. Man the end of the second one was hard to watch, my previous statement on Joshua has done a 180. He was pretty cool when you learned more about his motives ect.
Dyson Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Yeah, it's a toughie. Damn I love the Amnesia music, it's goooood.
D_prOdigy Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Transformation is the best song in the game. I'm pretty pissed that that only way to get the soundtrack is via iTunes (urgh).
david.dakota Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 i've finally taken the plunge and placed an order. Without giving too much away, how does this make use of the DS hardware? And am i right in thinking it only has one save file?
D_prOdigy Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Yes, it only has one save file. It's a non-traditional JRPG, with no random battles, and quite a bit of strategy involved in the fighting. The combat itself has your main character is controlled on the bottom screen with touch/slide/jab/rub/mic input and your partner is controlled on the top screen with the D-pad (or ABXY if you're a lefty), although your partner can be controlled automatically. The actual moveset depends on which "pins" you have equipped, with every one unleashing a different attack/power-up/healing move. There are around 200 pins in the game. It also sports probably the best 2D graphics on DS, an intelligent storyline you can actually care about, and a J-Pop score that rivals OTO.
D_prOdigy Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 ... slightly rasing the tone, some ridiculously awesome cosplay:
Coolness Bears Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 LOL that video is pretty funny! (and a bit wrong!) That cosplay is cool as well. Some people put real effort into their costumes. :awesome: This is a little drawing I did while playing the game on Holiday it's not very good: Since I can't draw I did me as a Bear in Neku's clothes playing Tin Pin Slammer! :p Also I still haven't completed the game I'm on the final boss and keep getting owned in the face and I'n wandering if any of you had advice for me on how to defeat him?
