Sheikah Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Unless the game is seriously revamped, I don't see how I could buy a sequel. It was basically just collecting items, pretending to care about what the NPCs had to say and personalising your own character with clothes.
david.dakota Posted February 28, 2008 Author Posted February 28, 2008 Of course, major bumpage here due to the likelihood that Pay and Play is going to be utilised for ACWii. How do we all feel about that? What price would you pay per month to AC Wii?
Owen Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Of course, major bumpage here due to the likelihood that Pay and Play is going to be utilised for ACWii. How do we all feel about that? What price would you pay per month to AC Wii? Thats the one game i didn't want to use P+P, though i guessed this would be the game to use it first. Downloadable Content would be great for this though!
Tellyn Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 I'm sure Pay & Play is for third-party motivation to create decent online content, not for Nintendo to exploit.
Zelda_Rulez Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 If Animal Crossing uses that, I'm not going to buy it. I don't want to pay to play a game online.
Owen Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 I'm sure Pay & Play is for third-party motivation to create decent online content, not for Nintendo to exploit. You could be right. P+P would only be used via Animal Crossing IF it's a MMO, which isn't exactly confirmed. They surely wouldn't include it, if Animal Crossing Wii is like the Gamecube and DS versions, it would make no sense and be a rip-off...you go to your game and plant flowers and do weeding and your being charged for it?! I don't think so.
killthenet Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Damn it, I thought the bumpage was in order because of new details about the game. I doubt Nintendo will use Pay and Play for this, perhaps yes if they did make an MMO version, but it's already been confirmed by Nintendo that Animal Crossing will not be an MMO. I just want some hard details, there's only 9 months left of the year and if you recall its meant to be out by the end of 2008 in Japan. I'm sure they're just waiting for E3 but i'm getting pretty impatient here. And there's no way its going to be exactly the same as the Gamecube and DS versions. There is a lot more they can do with the game without shoehorning in MMO options. Towns that a player can walk to, more in depth relationships with villagers - this was experimented with in the DS version but the limitations of memory and processing power clearly hampered what they were hoping to do. I'm sure the Wii version will continue these experiments.
Rummy Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 I'll say now, I've only read the first 5 posts, so sorry. But...this'd be awesome, AC is wearing thin with its style, I dunno how much it could survive or appeal on the Wii if it's not built on enough from the DS version, but this'd be a most excellent direction to take it in. However, I don't believe it'll happen. For the same silly reasoning that came up with the friend code system, and how nintendo's online communication is limited, I can see this totally not happening because of that, but I really wish it does, even though I wasn't the biggest of AC fans(I liked it, but maybe not as much as my mates did, and cos i raped my town one day). In relation to the above point, I can't remember where or when I heard of this story, and I might be making it up, but does anyone remember when some mother or something complained and was totally outraged cos of some bad language in her daughter's AC game? Either it was a preowned copy, or it was cos she'd had someone else's villager move into her town, and some silly old ninny had rather hilariously made them have a rather rude greet/nickname word for people(tbh, i do that too, and think it's hilarious). So yeah, cos of things like that, I see this being a long time coming, if at all. I really wish this would be Harvest Moon instead. Animal Crossing for me got boring too quickly; a lack of objectives, change and NPC interaction made the game stale. I half agree, if they could manage to blend the AC/HM aspects together into a fresh new style of game, I think it'd be awesome. I like HM, and I like AC, but I also hate them both in parts, so I'd like if they could get the best of both together! EDIT:I read the posts and see this as quite an old topic, on the P&P issue, I doubt I would. I like AC and all, but not enough for a constant input of money.
DCK Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Wii Pay and Play would be a bit too perfect for Nintendo to completely ignore it in Animal Crossing. I doubt you need it to enjoy AC to the fullest though - as Tellyn said, it's probably made with 3rd parties in mind.
Ten10 Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 I think it could work as an mmo if somehow homeland and animal crossing had some kind of love child. Infact if you go and look at homeland now you will very much see animal crossing. Here's my sauce: Its tomato ketchup
