david.dakota
Main page reporting Edge rumours that Animal Crossing Wii will evolve into MMO social networking game, which would prove a nice, and unexpected, move by The Big N. Personally, i'd love to see a busier network of characters in ACWii. Also, i'd love to see Mii's integrated into Animal Crossing too - perhaps wearing Animal costumes? Quirky, yes. Thought on the possible evolution of AC?

darksnowman
Could be the way to go with it, I'm not entirely sure what I really want from a Wii version of Animal Crossing. After giving so much time to the DS one, I don't really know if I could do it all again on the Wii unless there are some great new incentives to get back into it. Falcon_BlizZACK
Nintendo first must improve their network connections for a game like this.
gaggle64
Something simple, just a large public hub would be nice. Say an Animal Crossing City, after which groups of players can join up and group back to each others villages. That would be awesome.
Sheikah
I really wish this would be Harvest Moon instead. Animal Crossing for me got boring too quickly; a lack of objectives, change and NPC interaction made the game stale.
Zechs Merquise
This is exaactly what Nintendo need to do to make Animal Crossing into a massive phenomenon.
killthenet
I just hope that if this is true, they bring back the train. It would be so much better to feel like you've actually travelled to another town rather than just been transported through a gate. Would also be cool if there were a few towns built into the game on start up, so you could maybe walk to a town near you. Thing I'm hoping for most though is the ability for stories to develop and for relationships to become more complex. Would be great if hitting someone continually with a shovel had an effect that lasted longer than 10 minutes. EDIT: Oh, and they'll blatantly include Mii's in it. It's a sure thing, Nintendo want to shove them into as many titles as possible and their graphical style would certainly suit AC.

Perhaps this is why a change into MMO is being rumoured , as this should instantly improve the games longevity. As for HM , that is fine as it is IMO. Mike
This is the direction that Animal Crossing really needs to go. I hope it's true, but knowing Nintendo, it's not.

system_error
A MMO means - Servers across the world - Moderators - Continuous bug fixing - New quests/things to do ----------------------------- Big effort vs. small amount of money (I doubt blue ocean strategy allows monthly rates a la WoW) Also it would mean that Nintendo lets everyone play with everyone without friend codes otherwise it is not a MMO. Also I am quite unsure about space on the Wii with a decent MMO. I would like to see something like this but if I look back to Nintendos way in console gaming I rather doubt it. DCK
Yes, if this will happen Animal Crossing will be worth it, definetely. It was quite good but then again it was very limited too, so far.

Small ammout of money you say? Isn't Animal Crossing one of the top selling DS games? I think a MMO Animal Crossing coupled with the popularity the Wii is having would make a pretty decent income. FalcoLombardi
I'm not too entirely sure how to feel about this. I had fun "making friends" with the animal characters and I also definitely had fun screwing with them. I think too many human players would detract from the game. K-project
I still hope they keep the single player game intact to be honest. I've no desire to play online, and I like the personal nature of the GC original. Please don't neglect us solo players Nintendo!

Animal Crossing for me got boring too quickly; a lack of objectives, change and NPC interaction made the game stale. You see I didn't know how this would work at first, but after thinking about it it would be a bloody good idea. If the moderators could set up some kind of argricultural economy in the game, with supply and demand, inflation and all that stuff it would be bloody brilliant. Imagine you see a forecast saying potatos are going to be in high demand in the fall. You buy and grow a load of potatos, only to realize everyone else has done the same, so you get practically nothing hen you sell them. This is whilst your friend kept growing carrots, which no one else grew, and made loads off it. Buys your farm and employs you as his minion. That would be the best bragging rights in game ever. A step more complicated than previous games though.

Falcon_BlizZACK
It's a shame that they won't improve the service then really Exactly. All this money their acquiring yet we get the weaker service. PS3 have released about two updates that improve its online network, why doesn't Nintendo? I thought thats where our hard earned cash is supposed aid Nintendo...Its probably going towards some employees Suzuki and nights out with some geisha. I think a MMO Animal Crossing coupled with the popularity the Wii is having would make a pretty decent income. Well without online fees Nintendo gets as much money as if they would sell it without MMO characteristics but without spending money on infrastructure, bugfixing, moderators and stuff. I doubt that a AC MMO would sell a lot more than a regular AC. AC MMO = development costs + servers, dedicated development team AC = development costs only Yeah Nintendo makes more profit than ever but did you ever see them spend it on big things? 250€ Wii (could be a lot less but Nintendo doesn't want to pay a part), independent developers buyout is something Nintendo doesn't do, VC prices.... With those billions of $ and a steady increase of the company worth on the stock market I think Nintendo could afford to invest a part of their fortune. Like Sony and MS do. After all Nintendo only is so rich because we pay 250€ for a console, 10€ for a N64 game.....to get third party garbage. I really like Nintendo games but the console is overpriced compared to the competition and there are as good as no big third party games. Nintendo could change old structures of their behavior but they don't want to as long as it works.
