Dan_Dare Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 that actually makes sense. someone link me the review? not seen it myself.
ReZourceman Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Lazy fucker. http://uk.comics.ign.com/articles/985/985131p1.html I dig it! Nice action pose. Jason Howard on my Construct model. Epic whinzaphon.
Dan_Dare Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 wow that's some weapons grade point missing there. faaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiil. to be fair though, it's a controversial approach to an issue. It's one of those things where conventional criticism doesn't really apply. Technically, they're right in that it's a story lite issue and, for a monthly, that's really hard to sell but this is Invincible we're talking about. Far as I'm concerned, Kirkman and crew can do whatever they want because I know they've got big plans that go way beyond the usual structure of trades and short term payoffs.
DomJcg Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 And the fact that its actually the first time he's holding his own in a fight? he usually wins outright, or gets kicked
gmac Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 as a single issue they have a point with regards to it being light on story, but when it's part of a huge arc and it is a fairly important fight sequence that should be taken into account. Plus of course the art is awesomeness enough to make up for lack of story progression!
Shorty Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 (edited) IGN's review made sense to me. It was a fight-scene based issue, and despite that they squeezed in an "ooh, nowais" revelation (surprise surprise, questionable government 3vils again) - but I still felt like it was over before anything happened. And the fact that its actually the first time he's holding his own in a fight? he usually wins outright, or gets kickedHe's not exactly winning though, is he? His face is bloodied up, the big guy is hardly scratched, I think it's going to end as messily as usual. Edited May 23, 2009 by Shorty
ReZourceman Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 Moreso if you've seen the full 53 cover. Bitch is gonna get raped. I personally still contest the review.
ReZourceman Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Next issue of Wolf-Man looks soooooooooo sweet. Construct is so fucking bad ass. http://www.imagecomics.com/messageboard/viewtopic.php?t=46088
Dan_Dare Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 That out this week? also: any idea about Iron Man, Deadpool and Dark Avengers?
ReZourceman Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 That out this week? also: any idea about Iron Man, Deadpool and Dark Avengers? WTF....Diamond have changed....I can't see this weeks releases. WTF is that shit about. Hmmm. Found it. Via Google in horrible .txt format. Lesse. Wolf-Man isn't listed, but if its got a preview....it should be out. No Iron Man, Deadpool or Dark Avengers. New Avengers though. And Green Lantern which'll be amazing tbh.
Dan_Dare Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 might read some more GL tonight. Got immensely fucked off with the shit scans but I was enjoying it.
ReZourceman Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Yeah man. It gets so totally bad ass. The front cover for the next issue (variant cover) is sooooo nice. Ill find a pic and post....but its spoilerish so....only look if you're upto date. Or rather upto....38....39 ish.
ReZourceman Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 DIE HARD: YEAR ONE #1 Written by Howard Chaykin, art by Stephen Thompson, covers by Dave Johnson, Jock and John Paul Leon. America's greatest action hero is translated into the sequential art form for the first time! Every great action hero got started somewhere. Batman Began. Bond had his Casino Royale. And for John McClane, more than a decade before the first Die Hard movie, he's just another rookie cop, an East Coast guy working on earning his badge in New York City during 1976's Bicentennial celebration... and the Summer of Sam. Too bad for John McClane, nothing's ever that easy. http://www.comicscontinuum.com/stories/0905/26/boomaugust.htm I must say it sounds....good/alright. I do really like that BOOM Studios have got all these interesting and new properties, like The Incredibles etc.
Mundi Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Been reading up on some more Invincible and it just keeps getting better and better. I just finished reading up to issue #38 The part when he punches Sinclairs jaw off is just so satisfying. Throughout that issue I was waiting for Invincible to punch him Also the new TPB of The Boys gets released in July *glee*
Dan_Dare Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 y0 Rez! thought you might like this Green Lantern Retrospective on the various editorial clusterfucking exercises DC ran on the title trying to make it work for them. Interesting, well written column.
Happenstance Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 I was just looking through that myself actually, although so far ive only looked at the pretty pictures!
ReZourceman Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 y0 Rez! thought you might like this Green Lantern Retrospective on the various editorial clusterfucking exercises DC ran on the title trying to make it work for them. Interesting, well written column. Wow, that was a good read. I actually kinda disagree with his last sentence though. Honest. If the story’s good enough, we really won’t care who or what you contradict. How many more times do you need readers to demonstrate it? He actually talked about Ultimates and Adventures and stuff, and that is precisely where I would go to get my out of continuuity fix. The thing I like about the normal titles is the fact that they are all in continuuity and could/do potentially affect each other, so I DO care what a story contradicts. A lot. Seriously, DC just need to do an Ultimate line (All Star Batman was so so so so SHIT) I'd love to see an "Ultimate Batman" "Ultimate Green Lantern" and "Ultimate Teen Titans" for example.
Happenstance Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Finally finished reading the X-Men Forever special with the last 3 issues of Claremonts original run. ReZourceman Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 *Sigh* I posted last night on my DSi and can't remember what I said exactly. Oh yeah. LOL. Marvels flag ship character only mustering just over double TWD. Brilliant. Although on IGN I think its the highest rated issue of Spidey since BND this week, Joe Kelly (of Image fame) is writing, and this story leads into Slotts #600, featuring classic villain(s) and then that leads into Mary Jane and then sometime after that its Sinister 666 (which is my most looking forward to storyline I guess) so hopefully we'll have a nice long run of classic Spidey goodness. I do like some elements of new Spidey though. I do. I am a fan now. Its just the storys are a bit lack luster (for the most part) but I think its getting better, definitely. ------------------ Captain Britain get sooooo good. I'm on the vampire storyline, and it is totally awesome. Can't believe its cancelled man, that sucks. ------------------ I just read The Unwritten (finally) I'm kinda confused to be honest. It was good...but....just....what? http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=21386 Captain America #600 being sold on MONDAY June 15th. WTF. Gotta be Steve.
ReZourceman Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Oh man, Millar is such a fucking legend. Old Man Logan (Wolverine #72) That was totally awesome, and some really iconic moments, perfectly executed by McNivens epic and....well its effectively perfect comic book art. McNiven should only ever be used for these types of things, or epic storylines. Great great issue. Don't want to reveal anything, you just all need to read it. 9.5/10 Wolf-Man #16 Awesome as I suspected it would be. Although needed more Construct. If what Zech says is true however, then thats a great addition to the story. Brilliant. Jason Howard is getting better and better too. 9.2/10 Amazing Spider-Man #....erm 595 Really good. The cliff hanger is excellent/kinda. Hopefully this thing will come to fruition. 8.5/10
Dan_Dare Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 the hells is Old Man Logan? anyway: The Dark Knight Returns after not really digging Sin City (style over substance imo) and really liking 300 I always meant to give this a shot. Enter Shorty, who was a true gent and lent me his copy. absolute stone cold classic. Dark, brutal, brilliantly composed and fascinating portrayal of Batman's final campaign in Gotham. Loved the art too. Quality ending there as well.
Happenstance Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Old Man Logan is an arc based in a possible future where nearly all the heroes are dead and the villians control the US, its brilliant. ReZ did you notice this about Cap in the latest Old Man Logan: When Red Skull was talking about him he said something like "He wont come back, not this time
