No-ones said that the image is real though, could be fake for all we know and i'm more willing to believe that statement than the screen shot for now.
Well, the screenshot is real and legit; too much work to fake and the trailer was indeed shown back then.

Besides Team Symphonia wouldn't have time to pull something together to release next year on the Wii.

We've had better fakes before so i'm not ruling this one out yet. Anyway, where did it say there was a trailer shown? I wasn't sure if I had read about it, but looking at sites, there was only a mention that the new Tales game was coming to the Wii as far as i'm aware.

I was shown at the nintendo September pre-TGS conference. And this info is confirmed, it's even in video; thing is the video of the conference, the "oficial one", put's black boxes above the videos, including Dragon Quest IX, Monster Hunter 3 and... the new tales unveilment trailer.

But the trailer was shown, and the music for it, was a Tales of Destiny remix (I've seen the conference till that point to confirm) no image other than that photograph popped up afterwards though; I'm pretty sure the pic is legit though, no one knew they were unveiling Tales there, and it appeared right afterwards; not only that, but... it goes along with the music being Tales of Destiny as character designer seems to be Inomata.

I think that would be so much better in a re-make of the original. The party and leveling up ect just isn't quite as good even with the monsters.

Had another good play-through the other night and got to Building 2 in Altimera. I think I'll go play again right now.

Edit:

Alice and Deucs(SP). The game is really starting to get epic now, shame its almost over. I like how at the end the two games stories massively intertwine. Also, here's a list of all the character locations when you go explore the world before going to the final place:

Presea: Altesa's house

Sheena: Mizuho

Zelos: Meltokio (Near the castle)

Colette: Iselia (Near the school)

Genis: Palmacosta

Lloyd: Flanoir

Raine: Sybak

Regal: Izoold (at the end of the docks)

Kratos: The "tower" of salvation

And by Kratos I mean the scene where you see him talking to yuan through some sort of video conferencing thing and telling him that Derris Karlan is almost too far away to continue speaking.

I'm trying to decide if I should re-play the original over christmas or play something else.

Btw. - though I finished the game - I still have a question and that is:

Is it possible in this game to exactly see the stat increases - not just arrows but numerical values (and for every stat value) - BEFORE you BUY an item? From what I remember this was possible in ToS but I can't find this possibility in this game.

  • 4 weeks later...

I still need to beat the final boss. I've tried once, but was nearly out of items from the first bosses in the last dungeon, so I'm going to have to leave and come back. To bad there wasn't a salesman in the last dungeon.

I'm planning on going back and playing Tales of Phantasia on the GBA. I got about half way though once, but stopped because I got stuck because of the fact that they GBA couldn't handle the battle system properly and it lagged like shit. But I'm optimistic I'll be able to finnish it this time.

Hey if you leave the dungeon... maybe you've done this, but in case you haven't (seeing as you didn't mention it in the spoiler box posted last month), go to Iseila, you'll get a small scene where you get to choose something... after that go to Flanoir ;)

Thanks, I don't think I've done that yet. But I haven't played in a while so perhaps I just forgot.

sorry to be the bearer of bad news

despite dodgy translation, the meaning is clear...ish.

no tos for europe.

Here's what I did...

There's this thing for complaints:

-> http://www.uk.atari.com/index.php?pg=form

What to write in specific fields:

Title of the Game: Tales of Symphonia Dawn of the New World

Platform: Other

Subject: Information Request

And I wrote this:

Hi, why isn't Atari publishing this game?

It was announced that Tales of Vesperia is coming to Europe through Atari and yet, Tales of Symphonia Dawn of the new World has no release date, or even plans to speak of, but more than that, this piece of news came out today:

-> http://tinyurl.com/ToSDotNW

Implying it's not even coming? How is that possible and how did this happen? Is Atari even aware that this game trumped Tales of Vesperia sales worldwide? both in Japan and US?

More than that though, it's a sequel to the Tales that did put Tales on the map outside japan, and thus the sequel to by far the highest selling Tales of game ever (including in europe); not only that though, but it is selling faster than even the original did in Japan. Plus, the Wii is market leader and I'm sure the userbase numbers are not the problem which should make releasing this game on the platform a top priority, rather than ignoring it in spite of a game that performed worse on a worldwide basis.

So I ask, how secondary are we, and how can this kind of secondary treatment be explained? A lot of us were waiting for the PAL release and are not amused with this kind of support. Please answer, and if possible pass the feedback along to who can make a difference within Atari Europe.

Write a shorter one, whatever; but make them know that you want the game in europe, that the fact that they have no plans to comply are not acceptable, and demand a explanation.

Also, if you're not a native speaker and thus frequent european forums in other language, or, simply frequent another forums, please pass this along, so more people can participate

Please participate, it only takes a minute to do and the message sent can be pretty simple, help us being heard.

I'll right them an e-mail about it tomorrow aswell. I've already sort of planned wait to say, but i'm just a tad tired just now.

Your bang on. The Wii has a much higher userbase than the 360, and potentially the bigger RPG market, since as we can see, the RPGs released for the 360, aren't exactly selling as well as they could.

More than that, it is selling more than ToV whom Atari is bringing in both US and Japan; skipping this title and treating it's public as secondary next to the other is just stupid.

Plus, even if they miss the boat and release it afterwards it might be too late, it's not like no other titles with better presentation and effort aren't coming after all, this title will be more than obsolete within a year. the time to release it is now, and if anything they already missed the Q4 2008 window.
