Well looking at the way the character is standing, it seems like a team destiny style approach to things, except with 3D character models. Maybe Sword of Legendia is rising from the ashes, especially since a name change for that game was confirmed a while back

Sword of Legendia is not a Tales game, confirmed. And Tales Studio confirmed there were no main tales being made outside of Tales Studio just a few months ago; that included Team Melfes (Sword of Legendia team).

Is there anything known about Sword of Legendia? Except that it is made by Team Melfes (which also did Tales of Legendia)?

Btw.: I guess the name is not just coincidence?

It is by team Melfes, the Tales of Symphonia director is involved, character designer is Kazuto Nakazawa, it's not a Tales game, it is a RPG.

nothing more is known at this time. (and even, some of this stuff could have changed)

That it is no Tales of game was obvious too but the question is, if it might has some links to Tales of Legendia though.

Btw.: Aren't Tales of games also RPGs? :)

I think we will have to wait and see.

Anyway: I think we should go back to topic - I know though that I brought the other topic up myself more or less - (at least to Tales of and not Sword of) :)

Not really, all Tales game's had Tales of <insert codename> as a title, all but Tales of Legendia was Project Melfes. So really, without them coming and saying it is not a Tales game it would be at least likely.

Of course, they're both RPG's, but the later is not a tales game at least.

Woot finished it last night (or rather this morning), didn't get to play on Friday like I planned. Didn't get get back into it till 11pm last night, finsihed at 5am...woohoo... 35 hours 25 mins final play time.

I actually finished it twice, there's multiple ends, wohoo...got the "bad" one first, so then went and did the end again and got the normal ending.

I was pleased enough with it but something was bugging me about it. So looked it up just now and there is a 3rd "best" ending, which is determined by some choices you make during the game, took me awhile to find the info on it but I made the wrong choices from the begining....

Aparently not doing even one of these will cause you to lose the Best ending

best ending-

1. dont swear to lloyd at the start (i sweared to Lloyd, of course I did after playing the 1st game I still didn't believe what I saw in the intro so I thought Emil should swear to him... so I screwed myself over from the very start)

2. dont leave triet ruins more then 9 times (don't know what this is about i didn't leave once anyway)

3. dont get struck by lightning in lightning temple more that 14 times (that seems random, don't have a clue how many times I got hit either...though it migt have been a lot as i went to the toilet at one point and forgot to pause :heh:)

4. lose to the man and woman at the end of the game (ok I did that, on my 2nd try)

5. when u get to choose lloyds choose 'this one' (i saved just before that so made one choice saw what happened, went back picked the other... decided to go with "That One" cuz I liked the scene better with Zelos stepping in and correcting Emil...so again wrong choice)

normal ending-

1. Swear to lloyd (did that)

2. leave triet ruins more than 9 times OR get struck by lightning more than 14 times

3. when chosing the real lloyd, chose 'that lloyd' (did that)

4. lose to the man and woman at the end of the game (ok I did that, on my 2nd try)

Bad Ending -

No matter what you did before if you beat the man and woman at the end you get the bad ending. I beat them only because I thought it would be one of those "impossible to win" fights, surprised myself then when I won...when I saw the ending and knew something was wrong so went back

Not going to make any final judgements on the ending/story/characters till I see the "Best One"... i know I prolly might be able to find it on Youtube, but that's not right, so gonna reply the game and make sure I do things right this time....WOHOOO HERE WE GO.

So we know, Emil is not Emil, you're made to think he is his guy called Aster but it turns but he's not even Aster either.

My question therefore is...Where the hell is the REAL Emil? The one who was running behind his parents at the start of the game, we saw he parents through his eyes. the "Emil" we know just took his place and assumed he was Emil on talking with Emil's dying mother.

No body ever thought to wonder what happened to the Real one? Did Decus/Lloyd kill him in the Blood Purge with his parents? Did he survive? Where the hell is he.... wish that Thomas guy you met in the Dynstay Ruins appeared again, he seemed to know what happened

Also i found it very weird that Lloyd was actually the one who saved Marta in the start, it wasn't Emil or Ratatosk, he didn't materilise till after Lloyd saved her, haha, again Lloyd hard work credited to someone else

I was surprised Kratos never came back... I know he's meant to be miles off on Derris Kharlan but after they got his voice actor to do the games intro narration I was expecting the character would appear in the game too...shame

In the end I actually realised I liked Emil a lot more than at the start, his character develops pretty well and I liked Marta too... there's a nice touching scene with the two of them before going to the final battle and I actually felt sad for them and their situation/choices they ended up faced with.

It's such a shame they went with poor choices in the gameplay like the map system and the non leveling of the old characters and being unable to change their equipment. It needed more "natural" side quests too... the Katz Quests were ok but become repetitive easy as their all pretty much the same. It needed "real" side quests where you'd just be exploring a town talk to someone they ask for help and off you go. Stuff like the first ToS had, which it had a ton off.

If they had made the effort in those areas the game would have been so much better.... But still a good game which I enjoyed very much, and will play again.

EDIT:

Ok i went and made an extra save last night just before going to the final dungeon, i tend to do that in RPGs, anyway went messing on it and decided to visit some towns see if anything changes, went to Iselia and "something" happened...after that go to Flanor and something else happens....won't give any details but it's a goody not to be missed.

I had one but used it to make a weapon i think, was the only one i got in the whole game... i wonder if there is only one then... was highly annoying i had all other materials for every statue except the stone.... now I know how Ed and Al Elric felt :heh:

Additionally or corrections - From what I know it is this way:

Actually, only one of those things alone, won't change the outcome.

Only more together will change it. There is something like a good ending counter that needs to be below or equal 9 or something like this.

If you e.g. sear alligance to Loyd the counter will "only" go up by 5.

Regarding the temple re-entry you would get one point more per entry.

Regarding the lightning: I don't know for sure how many you would get after it exceeds 14.

Regarding point 3: Didn't know of that, are you sure that is part of it too?

Regarding point 4: Wasn't it actually a bit obvious that you would need to get defeated by them? After all: story like it seemed that this was what he wanted to do.

Btw.: The fight after fighting the woman and man (lol - actually I think if you only read this you could pick the wrong fight - just to make sure it is after the fight you think that would be that last fight and not before :) ) - yes there is one more - it doesn't change much to the ending if you lose or win. Just the dialog directly after the fight is a different for a short amount of time - afterwards it is the same.

Anyway: I got the good ending on my first playthrough without knowing that there are more ending - I only found out before the last fight - where it would have actually been too late to do anything differently :)

I thought it would be one of those "impossible" to win fights because of Emils convo with Tenbrea in Luin. Like the fight with Lloyd at Lumens Core and the fight with Ricther at Cape Fortress both impossible to win cause it's part of the story, i figured this fight was the same... even after knocking out Marta I thought, well there's no way I'll beat Lloyd, and I didn't want to go out without a fight :heh:

Not willing to give this news its own thread.

Some more news has been released concerning the next main title within Bandai Namco's Tales series for the Nintendo Wii.

Earlier this year 360 owners saw the release of Tales of Vesperia which is the latest title with Bandai Namco's Tales series. Yesterday it had been revealed that although Tales of Vesperia is an Xbox 360 exclusive the next title within the main Tales series, which is set to be a Nintendo Wii exclusive, will closely relate to Tales of Vesperia.

Whether this will be a wise move or not by Bandai Namco considering most Wii owners won't own a 360 and a Wii, especially within Japan, many could be faced with confusion in the game's story.

Cubed3 reads slightly differently

....the new mainline Tales that will appear on Wii was revealed, showing the game to be fully 3D and having a feel similar to the latest release 'Tales of Vesperia' on the Xbox 360.

Seconded: Cubed3

All news have sprouted from this:

- No one really had anything to say besides that it's 3D and the feel (look) felt like Vesperia's, so it's either cel-shaded (same engine?) or continues the cartoony look of the series.

besides from the only image we have, it's clearly not related with ToV, I bet it's not even a fujishima game at that (I bet it's Inomata's from the stature/style), let alone Team Symohonia's.
