Cube Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 In certain cases, yes, Metroid Pinball for the DS for instance. Why Europe got Metroid Pinball 18 Months later than the US Yea, I can't see translation as the problem with Metroid Prime Pinball. It was developed in the UK.
Teppo Holmqvist Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 Yea, I can't see translation as the problem with Metroid Prime Pinball. It was developed in the UK. I think that was some obscure patent problem. I know that Twisted had problems with mercury and case's design.
Shino Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 Twisted detected movements, a rumble pak shouldn't be any problems, every cellphone has one.
Teppo Holmqvist Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 Twisted detected movements, a rumble pak shouldn't be any problems, every cellphone has one. The problem was that mercury is poisonous substance, and EU doesn't allow it in "toys". Just imagine what could have happened if blender would have swallowed the cart!
jammy2211 Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 If Microsoft can manage it there is no reason Nintendo can't. So yes they must not want to. Microsoft develope games in English, have their developement studio's set up in America where it is much easier to find translators to hire, and have a much smaller amount of first party games to translate. It's not fair to compare Microsoft to Sony or Nintendo, if they were producing as many games as Nintendo do then they wouldn't be able to stop delays.
Noodleman Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 So Super Paper Mario wasn't developed in America then?
Cube Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 The problem was that mercury is poisonous substance, and EU doesn't allow it in "toys". Just imagine what could have happened if blender would have swallowed the cart! We got one of those tilt cartridges in 2005 with Yoshi's Universal Gravitation, no problems there. In fact, we got it 2 months before the US. And before WarioWare Twisted was out in the US.
Gizmo Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 Theres also Kirby Tilt N Tumble on the GBC, I got that on holiday in America and it never saw release over here.
jammy2211 Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 So Super Paper Mario wasn't developed in America then? No, it wasn't, like every Nintendo game ever made....
Noodleman Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 No, it wasn't, like every Nintendo game ever made.... My mistake I thought it was made by NST, who are most definatly American.
jammy2211 Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 My mistake I thought it was made by NST, who are most definatly American. ahh yeah, I always get confused on that one. I had the idea it was a Japan based company making games for the American market. Dang Nabbit, oh well.
Cube Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 My mistake I thought it was made by NST, who are most definatly American. I wonder what NST are working on now...
jammy2211 Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 I wonder what NST are working on now... I have a feeling it will be 1080 using the balance board. If it's a mini-game compilation I will be VERY angry.
Jasper Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 I have a feeling it will be 1080 using the balance board. If it's a mini-game compilation I will be VERY angry. Welcome to Nintendo 'Quick Cash for Crap Games' formula, wich will shorten the games and keep the prices. You'll pay just as much for the old rehash of minigames as you would have payed for a new Zelda, three years ago. Mostly because Miyamoto has lost faith in games that last longer than an hour. Here's the upside, though: games that last only that short, have less to translate and should be in our stores earlier. Jej!
Teppo Holmqvist Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 Welcome to Nintendo 'Quick Cash for Crap Games' formula, wich will shorten the games and keep the prices. Gamefaqs, that way -> It is quite fun that crap like this is spewed on daily basis especially when there is nothing to support this claim. Except that Wii Fit is tool of satan, yadda yadda. I wonder what NST are working on now... Nintendo should really get rid of NST. Seriously, they are easily worst internal team. I mean: * 1080° Avalanche * Bionic Commando Elite Forces * Crystalis * Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis * Mario vs. Donkey Kong * Metroid Prime: Hunters * Nintendo Puzzle Collection * Pokémon Puzzle League * Ridge Racer 64 * Ridge Racer DS * Wave Race: Blue Storm Their input has been always pretty dire with only exceptions being Mario vs. Donkey Kong, Wave Race: Blue Storm and Nintendo Puzzle Collection.

No really, wich of these games is bad? 1080 are great games, Mario vs. Donkey Kong are Supper, the Puzzle collection is fine, Pokémon Puzzle league is awesome, but pokémon, Ridge Racer 64 was sublime and Wave Racewwas ace (although not my kind of game). They're one of the few studios that made some realistic game experiences at Nintendo, so what's your problem?

NST only made second 1080 game, which wasn't great. Pokemon Puzzle League was maybe good, but it was just Panel de Pon (which is IntSys's game) with new skin. Never liked Ridge Racer 64, or second Mario vs. Donkey Kong.
Kurtle Squad Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 We got one of those tilt cartridges in 2005 with Yoshi's Universal Gravitation, no problems there. In fact, we got it 2 months before the US. And before WarioWare Twisted was out in the US. That probably doesn't use Mercury...Especially since it apparently handles like crap.
Tellyn Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 What gets me is that the Yanks started complaining on GoNintendo about the N-Europe rumour that Smash Bros would come out this year in the US but Europe would get Mario Kart. THEY WERE COMPLAINING. Saying that it was hardly fair and such. Oh if I could meet them...
Cube Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 They've also been complaining about Strikers. and Mercury Meltdown Revolution.
