Haver Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 I'll keep to Firefox. The style looks ugly with Vista (whereas Firefox looks better with Vista than IE7) - which is one of the reasons I don't use iTunes. I can't seem to remove the bookmark toolbar, either. And there's some odd spider button, too. Try shift-control-b. It's shift-command-b on OS X.
triforce_keeper Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 Meh. I don't like it, makes words look blurry on my pc aswell. Stick with my FireFox Oh and Emasher, spell checker isn't new XD Had it on FireFox ages ago!
Emasher Posted June 12, 2007 Author Posted June 12, 2007 Meh. I don't like it, makes words look blurry on my pc aswell. Stick with my FireFox Oh and Emasher, spell checker isn't new XD Had it on FireFox ages ago! actually i posted that so people who switched to firefox because of that could come back if they liked safari more the "weird spider button" is for reporting a but (as it is a beta version )
Wesley Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 I supposedly loads web pages faster than Firefox but it's not always about a those 3 seconds. I like Firefox as it is I don't need to switch.
conzer16 Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 I downloaded and installed this as I like Apple software - but it can't connect to the internet?? Dunno what's wrong! Firefox and IE connect without any trouble whatsoever!
KKOB Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 Safari is meant to load the pages faster but not load up itself faster, damn gotta read the fine print on this stuff. Since macs have the app running prety much anytime the computers on it'll be great for macs, but not soo good at first for windows users, suppose we better wait for the final release.
Wesley Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 Yeah it just got a lot of flack for not loading as fast as IE and no one ever said it would load up faster just that it loads web pages faster. Also: http://apple.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=07/06/12/0120230&from=rss
conzer16 Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 Got it sorted now >.< I like it! It's nice and sleek and loads the pages really fast! I'm posting using it now :p
Emasher Posted June 12, 2007 Author Posted June 12, 2007 Yeah it just got a lot of flack for not loading as fast as IE and no one ever said it would load up faster just that it loads web pages faster. Wesley Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 Alright, alright, just posting news about the God damn thread. Jesus, isn't that what a thread is about? Retard! EDIT: I am kidding, don't worry. Double EDIT: God the lack of respect on these forums...
McPhee Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 i don't find that funny (its a real spell checker) Thats because Mac users have no sense of humour. Why else would people buy off the strength of the Mitchell and Webb adds instead of laughing and carrying on with their lives? its a BETA there are bugs in betas As above
Sanchez Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 I don't get it. It's unstable (yes, it's a beta, but this is the most unstable beta software i've seen forever) There's tons of bugs, see above It's Ugly, holy shit is it that hard to read the windows gui handbook? There's no demand. IE, Firefox and Opera cover EVERY base If it's like apple's other windows software, it will be bulky and shit. Whatever, the only way you're going to seperate me from firefox is to give me... there is no way, I'm 100% happy with firefox.
Haver Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Thats because Mac users have no sense of humour. Why else would people buy off the strength of the Mitchell and Webb adds instead of laughing and carrying on with their lives? See, that's strange because both David Mitchell (UK PC) and John Hodgman (USA PC), both comedians, use Macs.
Emasher Posted June 13, 2007 Author Posted June 13, 2007 i've never had safari 3 beta crash. its the most stable beta i've seen
Marshmellow Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 i've never had safari 3 beta crash. its the most stable beta i've seen It's because two wrongs make a right.
Sanchez Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 i've never had safari 3 beta crash. its the most stable beta i've seen Denial. More annoyances: I can't middleclick tabs to close them? When I type things in it sometimes deletes what i've written this predictable URL things is quite obnoxious memory use is just the same as firefox UGH It just does NOT fit in, whose idea was it to keep osx themes and buttons in windows, it looks hideous

Either way it's just a beta. The UI is coherent with iTunes and with what you'll get on iPhone basically, and maybe that's the point. People will know how to use safari (which is the simplest and most elegant browser imo) and will be able to sync their bookmarks across to their phones. Mr sanchez, i think your very very used to firefox so stick with it and be happy. The beta definitely works pretty much perfectly on a mac, and i guess apple now only really have to update the UI for Leopard and sort out the windows bugs for the final release, probably in october alongside Leopard and OS Xs coherent plastic look.
CompSci Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Will safari allow customization (extensions and skins) alaa Firefox and to some extent IE7?
KKOB Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Will safari allow customization (extensions and skins) alaa Firefox and to some extent IE7? As far as i know. No.
Wesley Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 See, that's strange because both David Mitchell (UK PC) and John Hodgman (USA PC), both comedians, use Macs. Haha, he makes a good point. However, David Mitchell's own work (the Mitchell and Webb look) was awful.
CompSci Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 As far as i know. No. i guess i am staying with FF then ok been using it for 20mins, loads only 2sec faster then FF, but i assume if i remove all my extensions and themes from FF it load much faster(hehe), surfing been ok but safari just looks odd on windows as you can see from the image below, but will also asume the feeling will go once i get used to it
That Guy Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Denial. Bullshit. He's talking about Safari on Mac OS X, which I'm using and is working perfectly.
Marshmellow Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 If they added some Aero to it I think it would look better. *Prepares to be flamed*
That Guy Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 If they added some Aero to it I think it would look better. *Prepares to be flamed* I agree, I don't understand why they would put a Mac OS X design into Vista.
