Shino Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 thanks and thats a prime reason why football is more well watched and popular. It's Simple. And fun....
motion Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 thanks and thats a prime reason why football is more well watched and popular. It's Simple. Yeah, what's complicated about watching 22 pansies running about kicking a ball, pretending to be mortally injured when they touch each other? And fun.... Less fun than rugby.
Guest Stefkov Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 American Football is like shit personified then dumped on a plate. Don't even get me started... Why not elaborate? I don't see what's to hate about the sport. I realy don't wanna hear the whole, they're pansies because they wear padding so the tackles are softer. They wear padding so the tackles are harder. People break their legs, arms etc in the games. There's more aggresivness, pushing and shoving everywhere. Then tactics come into play. Trying to open spaces and such. Rugby's just pass it off to the guy next to you and let him run into a wall of 400 pounds. Which he'll then fall over, they'll all get off him then it'll get passed on for the next guy to try the same thing. Apart from that, elaborate your point please.: peace:
KKOB Posted June 9, 2007 Author Posted June 9, 2007 And fun.... No, just simple . . . also handily describes a large proportion of it's fans.
conzer16 Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 thanks and thats a prime reason why football is more well watched and popular. It's Simple. Yeah you're probably right. It is a much simpler set of rules - the only toughie being the perennially iffy offside rule - whereas rugby has a multitude of rules that apply in different parts of the pitch for different types of plays and using a different group of players etc etc etc Edit: Motion your arguments are very brunt and "in your face". You're not endearing rugby to anybody's heart here! Just for the record - I love soccer as much as rugby and even though I chose to vote for rugby i do indeed love soccer! You all know I support Leeds ffs!
motion Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 More fun than rugby. Afraid not No, just simple . . . also handily describes a large proportion of it's fans. LMAO brilliant.
KKOB Posted June 9, 2007 Author Posted June 9, 2007 More fun than rugby. hence your vote. Remember this is about preference really, not so much about trying to prove which sport is better.
Daft Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 thanks and thats a prime reason why football is more well watched and popular. It's Simple. Yea and thats why it isnt an elitist game and is generally accepted by the whole world! *inner voice* "You idiot! Why did you just say that, your just gonna piss people off..."
Blue_Ninja0 Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 hence your vote. Remember this is about preference really, not so much about trying to prove which sport is better. That about sums it up.
motion Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 Hmmm, let's see after a quick seach on BBC Sport: Football, I found these two articles from YESTERDAY, after 10 seconds of scanning... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/6735761.stm - Corruption http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/internationals/6733867.stm - Spectator attacking the referee No doubt tomorrow will bring reports of stabbings and attacks using nailed baseball bats. Or another racist or homophobic comment from one of the pro football pansies.
Shino Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 Yeah, what's complicated about watching 22 pansies running about kicking a ball, pretending to be mortally injured when they touch each other? Less fun than rugby. Thats your preference. And honestly I'm offended when you categorize everything and everone related with football as homophobe racists. Do you choose a minority for everything in your life?
KKOB Posted June 9, 2007 Author Posted June 9, 2007 Thats your preference. And honestly I'm offended when you categorize everything and everone related with football as homophobe racists. Do you choose a minority for everything in your life? He didn't choose to be gay. No more so than a black man chose to be black. No one says to him, 'oo, its your own fault' though. I suppose preference in which sport you enjoy watching is the same, some people actually like that colin mccrae racing thing, off road, all muddy, whats it called?!

Or another racist or homophobic comment from one of the pro football pansies. This is entertaining to read! Football = 1, Rugby = 0 *inner voice* Dammit! Just keep your gob shut...

Do you choose a minority for everything in your life? Never catagorised EVERYONE as that at all. But most pro football teams are filled with pansies.
Shino Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 He didn't choose to be gay. The fuck I care. I didn't choose to be a homophobe racist.

KKOB Posted June 9, 2007 Author Posted June 9, 2007 The fuck I care. I didn't choose to be a homophobe racist. True . . . wait Wrestling? :p You dirty perv ya!
Problematique Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 Hmm. Imo when it comes to various incarnations of football: Rugby Union >> American Football > Gaelic Football > Rugby League >> Football I've played rugby now every year for 12 years. Naturally it's my sport of choice. I just can't get excited over football. Plus there's too much in it which pisses me off no end. Don't even let me get started on the diving. I've seen a couple of entertaining matches, sure. But it's never drawn me as much as the above sports (in both watching and playing). Gaelic football is what normal football should be, if only for the contact (tackles must not involve arms :p ie shoulder charging. Some of my biggest tackles ever have come in Gaelic Football)

That my friend is the sport of Hurling!!! But if I was examine your ranking of Football, I personally would have to edit it slightly Gaelic Football >> Rugby Union ≈ Soccer > Aussie Rules > American Football > Rugby League
Problematique Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 Hurling is a little too silly for my taste :p but yeah, Gaelic football is a hell of a lot of fun. I've only played it a few times but it's pretty easy to pick up. Aussie Rules is just Gaelic Football x silly :p I've never played it but I've watched it a bit. It's slightly mental. American football is great once you understand it (which takes a lot of time...) but I'm at the stage now where I really appreciate the more technical side...

Many an afternoon has been lost watching this sport, and the amount of money my grandad bets on the games is extreme!!! but then again he ain't exactly poor lol

Aussie rules is quite different to Gaelic actually! Different shape ball Different pitch dimensions Different tackling rules Different positions etc AFL is professional, GAA is amateur In fact every year there is a International Compromised Rules Tournament held alternately in Ireland/Australia using a hybrid of the two games! Imagine a Rugby/Soccer hybrid :p I was about to mention hurling! Many an afternoon has been lost watching this sport, and the amount of money my grandad bets on the games is extreme!!! but then again he ain't exactly poor lol Would this be your Wexford Grandad!? Ask him who he's backing in the Wexford/Louth football game on Sunday! It's a tight call!
