Wesley Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 I know the music thread got closed so I don't know if this is... maybe... trimming the bum hair too close to the hole? But, who here is seeing The Who? On their little never-ending-until-another-band-member-dies tour? I'm off this Saturday but I don't even listen to them that much. Just to see what the fuss is about and to have a bit of fun. Anyone else been/going? P.S. If you're going to post saying, "The Who suck." Then just don't and maybe you'll save yourself some valuable time in your life.
Platty Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 I have tickets for them at Wembley on 26th June. Saw them twice last year. I love The Who and can't believe I actually got to see them let alone 3 times!!
Mr. Bananagrabber Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Seeing them tommorrow with my dad. Yeah, i'm going to a concert with my dad. But I don't care, it's The fucking Who.
Blackfox Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 I'm going to the KC Stadium tomorrow too. Got two tickets for £40. Not bad. I'm hoping its amazing.
Oxigen_Waste Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Damn... I was going to see them here in Portugal, but chickened out at the last minute and ended up regreting it. =S Tommy... is god incarcerated in musical form.
Wesley Posted May 25, 2007 Author Posted May 25, 2007 I'm going to the KC Stadium tomorrow too. Got two tickets for £40. Not bad. I'm hoping its amazing. Hey I might bump into you. The Stadium only holds about 7 people so I'm sure I'll bump into you.
Charlie Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Yet again another band I want to see don't bother coming up to Scotland. Scotland are notorious for having great crowds.
Mr. Bananagrabber Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 Yeah, so they were excellent. I can't believe they're over 60, they had so much energy on stage and they were performing so well. Oddly, one of the best parts of the show was the CGI and video clips used in the background, especially during Who Are You and the Elvis montage during Good Looking Boy was brilliant as well. I'll probably write a more detailed review after I get up (I'll have to go to sleep first :P), I'm still really pumped from the concert.
Platty Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 Is it the "who are you" video where it's the train journey in black and white? I love that video.
Wesley Posted May 26, 2007 Author Posted May 26, 2007 I should be setting off to see them in a minute or two now. I don't even like them that much. It's more friend rock. http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/page/news/41772-sufjan-pens-essay-on-friend-rock
Blackfox Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 I'm setting off in about an hour. Ordinary Boys supporting means that I'm in no rush.
welsh_gamer Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 The Who are in my Top 5 favourite bands, and I only have 2 of their CDs : The Ultimate Collection and Endless Wire. Will buy some of their earlier albums soon. I do adore Endless Wire, even tho around 40% of it, is just a repeat of the first half of the album. Enjoy the concert!
Mr. Bananagrabber Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 Is it the "who are you" video where it's the train journey in black and white? I love that video. Yes. It's fecking brilliant.
Wesley Posted May 26, 2007 Author Posted May 26, 2007 Okay I just got back and all I can say is wow... I have never really took much interest in The Who but I bloody wish I had done. Absolutely amazing...
Blackfox Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 They were great. Especially since theyre as old as my grandparents. GOod show.
Wesley Posted May 27, 2007 Author Posted May 27, 2007 There were some crazy people there. And a lot of walking about... I've never been to a stadium gig but is that normal? There was a constant stream of people walking away and then to the stage.
Oli1983uk Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 The Who was ment to be playing on Jools Holland this week but cos the show is being film tomorrow which is a bank holiday, The Who has told the BBC to stuff it and they are not working on a bank holiday.
Mr. Bananagrabber Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 You know after the show, when they advertise you can buy a DVD and a CD of the show, does anyone remember the website you have to visit to do so? Cheers.
Wesley Posted May 28, 2007 Author Posted May 28, 2007 Yeah it was here: http://themusic.com/ Although it wasn't what I expected... I can't seem to find the single Hull gig...
Mr. Bananagrabber Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 Yeah it was here: http://themusic.com/ Although it wasn't what I expected... I can't seem to find the single Hull gig... Thanks man, it says the CD's will be avaliable 2-4 weeks after each gig
Wesley Posted May 28, 2007 Author Posted May 28, 2007 Oh... I see. I'm planning to buy it for my girlfriend's dad because he took us and paid for out tickets and, although I tried, wouldn't take any money.
