DazzeL Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 oooo, where did you pick this up as cheap as £14.99 from Owen? Cheapest I've found so far is £17.99 at Gameplay.
Hero-of-Time Posted January 19, 2008 Author Posted January 19, 2008 My copy arrived today from play.com, dont know when I will play it as Zack and Wiki is getting all my time. I havent even tried NiGHTS yet!
Owen Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 oooo, where did you pick this up as cheap as £14.99 from Owen? Cheapest I've found so far is £17.99 at Gameplay. £19.99 on GAME, then i took £5 loyalty points of and it came to £14.99! Should have stated that earlier, sorry! You don't need to preorder alot to get a fiver in points, so i thought that was pretty good! and the game is well worth £15!
flameboy Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 So how long does a standard level last for? I'm still tempted to get this the most out of fridays big 4. But I'm not sure if I sit and for hours all of the time. I mean if you get a medal first time on a level does it stop you or does it keep going.
Cookyman Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 ordered mine from play.com and was expecting it Friday as it was despatched on Wednesday but it didn't arrive. I thought no big deal it will come on Saturday but it didn't - ah well roll on Monday really looking forward to this title.

Compare that to my family guy: blue harvest which out tomorrow and turned up 1st thing friday morning...I hate how inconsistent Play.com have become...

Length of the levels depends on how good you are , in theory they are endless but on average you can probably get 15-20 minutes (sometimes more) on them. Even after securing the Gold medals you just continue till all your lives are gone , and finding different drones (tactics) to re-approach the levels means you can try to beat your best scores. Then you have the attraction of the online scoreboards , so if you are one of those whose hankers for the retro days of high-score tables then this is where the longevity lies. With 57 levels (64 is you link with the DS version) then there should be plenty of shelf-life with this. I certainly recommend it.
flameboy Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 hmmm...what time do shops shut on a sunday? is it 4 or 5? gotta go drop my girlfriend off at train station at 4.30..might get it afterwards...
Cookyman Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Woohoo arrived today eventually from play.com. Got it. Played it. Loved it. Fantastic retro goodness - a great game!: peace:
flameboy Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Despite vowing to not get this..I caved in and bought it and god I am so glad...everyone get this now! I pray of you, such a bargain!
DazzeL Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Can anyone confirm whether this works with a GC pad or not?
Cookyman Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Can anyone confirm whether this works with a GC pad or not? It works with the classic controller not the GC pad.
flameboy Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 It doesnt support gamecube... works beautifully with the classic controller though. I wasnt going to try the nunchuk and remote option but I did and it works pretty well if you have no other options...there are odd moments when you dont feel completely in control but still feels good..

Yeah the nunchuck wiimote option is ok but theres so much going on its far easier with the classic controller. From the few responses on this thread I have a feeling this game is being overlooked by n-europe members - thats a shame as It's a cracking game.

Strangely , I have been using the Nunchuk and Wii-mote option since I first got this and have got reasonably used to them , but you are quite right about moments when control feels lacking. The problem is , when I did try the classic controller I really struggled because I was so used to the Wii-mote option so I was put off , but I really need to adapt because I am sure that my scores will improve once I get them sussed.

Yeah it is a shame, thought more people would have picked this up seem as it is so cheap Strangely , I have been using the Nunchuk and Wii-mote option since I first got this and have got reasonably used to them , but you are quite right about moments when control feels lacking. Yeah when I say it feels lacking I mean kind of loose and that you dont always feel in control so much, like if you are surrounding by enemies and try to work your way out and carve some space, it is so much harder with the wiimote, rather than with the classic where you can just slam both sticks in the same direction... Which drones do people use? I mostly use Sweep and Ram...
Hero-of-Time Posted January 25, 2008 Author Posted January 25, 2008 Yeah it is a shame, thought more people would have picked this up seem as it is so cheap I still havent had the time to play this yet, it arrived and went straight on the shelf. I did my part and bought it though
darksnowman Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 The price of this is very attractive, but I ordered Zack and Wiki out of last weekends grand slam release. I couldn't get all four, and I didn't think I could justify getting even two. Maybe this will be one for the summer drought.
DazzeL Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 I pretty much would have got this already if it wasn't for the fact that I don't have a classic controller - makes it £14 more expensive!
flameboy Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 I pretty much would have got this already if it wasn't for the fact that I don't have a classic controller - makes it £14 more expensive! yeah but I'm sure you would adapt to other control scheme.
DazzeL Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Thats fair but the main draw for me is the high score leaderboards - that's the sort of thing that will keep me coming back trying to improve my rank etc and from what I hear wii-mote and nunchuck are no use to this end.

I actually find it boring compared to the main galaxies levels...
