Darkspine S Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 It would make sence to porn....I mean port it.* *I actually wrote porn by accident so left it in:heh: Not your only spelling mistake.
pedrocasilva Posted May 12, 2007 Posted May 12, 2007 You know, a Virtua Tennis Wii would rock. (there was no thread for this one, so...) I can now say... They're definetly thinking about it... This is a old spanish interview (march 2007), and it points for stuff not revealed at the time, like ghost squad comming and such; anyway... it got overlooked because it wasn't in English. Here it goes: RG: After Wii Sports, Electronic Arts is already adapting their sports games for Wii. Our readers request a Virtua Tennis [Wii]. What does SEGA have to tell them in that front?José Herráez:: At the moment, no version of Virtua Tennis for Wii is planned. The dev team of the title, AM3, is considering the idea, but we don't have anything to confirm at this time. Fonte: http://www.revogamers.net/articulos-109-Entrevista:-10-cuestiones-a-SEGA-España-2-.html (translation might not be always 100% accurate but I tried) That was before Virtua Tennis 3 shipped worldwide, so... who knows, they might (already) be working in a Wii version as we speak.
Atomic Boo Posted May 12, 2007 Posted May 12, 2007 *puts wii-play on* *starts playing table tennis* sorry what? I was thinking, games like Wii Play and Wii sports may have put a lot of pressure on publishers to make a good sports game based on just one thing. They've set a high standard with most of them and Rockstar (and other developers) will have to make something special to gratify a purchase of a non-compilation of sport games. It doesn't help that table tennis is quite a simple concept for a game, so even if it is better than the Wii Play version it may still get bad reviews because it isnt enough of an improvement.
mcj metroid Posted May 12, 2007 Posted May 12, 2007 i would really say virtua tennis will eventually come but honestly i'm dying for a proper tennis game. i honestly can't see why not
Hellfire Posted May 12, 2007 Posted May 12, 2007 Not releasing VT 3/4 wtvr on Wii is probably one of the stupidest things that can be done.
blender Posted May 12, 2007 Posted May 12, 2007 but do people really expect waggle to be implemented in these 'simulation' racket games. I'm a bit skeptical but would love to see what they can do. As a pointer control, it could be interesting too like wii play
Hellfire Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 So you're saying that pressing a button is better aproach to simulation than "waggle"?
blender Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 So you're saying that pressing a button is better aproach to simulation than "waggle"? i'm need a different approach to wiisports. shakey or waggle that are mainly done on timings and are fine for wiitennis and zelda. waggly is for party games and I dont imagine for a second that it will be tecnicallay possible to simulate a battery. but pointy is a mechanic for higher accuracy and response as in wii play. to be honest, i'd rather knobly an analogue stick and pointy where i want it to go, then trigerry for power. maybe at the last second a bitof waggly on the nunchunk for spin.
Cube Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 but do people really expect waggle to be implemented in these 'simulation' racket games. I'm a bit skeptical but would love to see what they can do. As a pointer control, it could be interesting too like wii play Wii Sports Tennis was waggle for simplicity - with mor eeffort by the developer, more realistic tennis controlls (i.e. Direction you move Remote = Direction you swing). Plus the Nunchuck can also be used (the wire is long enough).
DCK Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 The Wiimote's point is to involve movement in games, not to create a 100% simulation of movement for in game. Though it's possible in some situations (and 80% is possible in most situations) it's not the point. The point is that waggling is more fun and accesible than pressing a button.

Indeed, IMO ultra realism in a somes sports competition games on Wii would imply that only a slim ammount of people would take good results from it or require too much coordination and timing, that's precisely where a game ends and a simulator starts. The most important thing is that the game is fun, but, not forgiving to the point of being too easy, and it still has something to be achieved/pulled for those that invest more time into it (or, in Wii's case, play/played the game in real life). That said... Those "simulators" could also happen in the future if the userbase grows steadily, I for one would be in line for a 1:1 drum simulator (not related to sports but...), in the way I envision it... it would be pretty much like a electronic drums with a really big library for equipment customization and much cheaper (while taking up less space). I'm not talking about a game with unlockables and such, more like a drum aplication for the Wiimote who simulates the real thing; I'd buy that.
