Rockstar Table Tennis coming to the Wii?!

I for one would love this and in the Rockstar thread ages back said this was the one game I really wanted to see.

There isn't much to go on yet only this blog post:

Nintendo editor Matt Casamassina has hinted at some additional third party support for Wii. On IGN´s Wii-k in Review, dated last Friday, he pours some water on the rumour mill.

We were talking to some publishers today during lunch. And they were saying, you know, we have got some really original new IPs for Wii that we cannot talk about. But we are definitely pushing Wii. We are really into Wii. (...)

There used to be this fighting franchise, it came to GameCube. It will be coming to Wii but it won´t be a fighting game anymore. Now it is going to be some kind of crazy-ass adventure game.

The quotes are at 21:55 and 29:55 into the podcast, respectively. The fighting game mentioned in the latter is also said to have been a third party title and reasonably successful on the platform. Guesses may include ´Viewtiful Joe´, ´Soul Calibur´ and, my personal favourite, ´Bloody Roar: Primal Fury´.

EDIT In, fact, I can add a little rumour myself. Expect Rockstar´s ´Table Tennis´ to come out on the Wii. I have been told that it is likely to be the first Rockstar title heading to Wii.

Now this does seem a bit odd to me, as I thought we were seeing Manhunt 2 end of June/July so for this to be the first game to hit the Wii from Rockstar seems abit unlikely when it hasn't yet been announced...I mean you do have to question anyone who prefers Bloody Roar to Soul Calibur...

I think it could work well on the Wii. It's not so good on the Xbox, it gets really frustrating though.

Would surely lose that on the Wii though?! The Wiimote controls would help?!

One thing about this, is the small tight environments will surely allow for great graphics and animations and a real chance to push the Wii hardware as much as they can, if we got a version as close as possible to the 360 in 480p I'd be very happy!

Fricking go home Matt.

Being named Matt myself I take that personally. You go home.

I don't really like Matt Cassisimananna either. Halo DS ololol

This is almost as offensive as the time TheNerdChildren said all Matts are dicks.

Don't worry, from my experience, it's all Andrews that are dicks.

I'll go with Andrews lol! There was this lad at school called Andrew who pushed me into a tree and ripped my new trousers so I jumped up whacked him in the face and broke his nose, I got detention for two weeks, and it didn't help that the day before in assembly we got told that fighting didn't solve anything...

I have a cousin called Andrew.

He's in jail for stabbing someone.

Heh heh. I have unwittingly created a hate war against anyone called Andrew.

Anyway, about them table tennises. I could see this happening, kinda as Wii is ideal but it would be a different Table Tennis game, catered to Wii.

Table Tennis for Wii would be great. Unfortunately, I seriously doubt that will happen - Falafelkid's blog is notorious for making things up.

Plus, Manhunt 2 is looking to be the first Rockstar title on Wii anyway.

You know, a Virtua Tennis Wii would rock. :)

That all depends on whether Sega actually uses the little intelligence they have left.
