Eddage Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 I was wandering how many of you guys have ordered from http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk? My parents are thinking about buying a new computer and I told them about this place. I looked on the website for them and saw that it was very cheap, however I am a little worried about reliability/credibility since it is so cheap! I know a few of you guys have ordered from them so just wanted to know if you had any problems or if everything was fine. I have read some pretty dodgy reviews on the interent (mostly based around faulty parts and customer service) so just wanted to make sure before diving in at the deep end! Cheers for any advice!
Meik Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 I bought a PC from them at the start of the year. They update the website every step of the way so you know what's going on (payment recieved, in production, in testing etc). Took them a week to build my PC, they shipped at 2pm and then I recieved it the next day. Extremely well packaged in a custom box. Great machine which I have had no problems with whatsoever. Can't comment on the customer services as I never needed to contact them. The graphics card I ordered with the machine only comes with 2 DVI ports, so I was worried I would have to buy a converter for my VGA cable - they included two converters in the box. I recommend them 100%.
The fish Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 I've never actually bought a PC from them (decided on a 360 instead), but I made a few custom ones, and they are stupidly cheap for what they are... I believe Fresh just got a PC from them, and I think he likes it.
Ten10 Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 never brought from them before but I can recommend http://www.misco.co.uk They always have good deals on equipment
The-Ironflame Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 I bought this machine I'm on last May and it's been fine. Since then they've changed their logo and cases which look much better than mine now . I'm not sure how good they are now but what I got was a good solid machine for a decent price. Besides my PSU and GFX card being brands I've never heard they used some well known brands such as Lite-on, Western Digital and Asus. (The PSU is very stable still) Also the memory in mine is elixir branded which is suprisingly fast still nowadays they use Corsair branded memory though It must be hard to find a good decent PC retailer which gives good all round service and that don't overcharge..
Shorty Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 My PC came from them. They were excellent apart from 2 aspects: 1. sloooow delivery. The status of your order will hang in "pre-production" for about 2 weeks, making you very wary and doubtful. It may eventually arrive within the pre-determined time, but it's still quite long. 2. my network card didn't work at all. In fact, it caused the whole PC to hang. Fortunately I had a USB wireless adapter that I could use to get online to email them about it. To which they replied within 24 hours with an acknowledgement of the problem, an apology and a driver that worked perfectly Otherwise the PC they sent me has been excellent. I got a conroe when they were brand new, a 7600GT that has been able to run everything on full specs until the very recent Rainbow Six: Vegas, zillions of GB HD space, 2GB of fast corsair RAM, an excellently put together system with great cooling, nice drive racks, well organised cabling etc. etc. - its just a very good computer
The-Ironflame Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 Seems as though the PSU's they use are FSP branded. I don't any other good companies but it's a good idea to look into them, alot of opinions will vary for PC E-tailers. P.S R6 Vegas is badly optimised for most machines, it's not even designed for dual cores! Recommended cpu spec is for 3ghz single core..
Fresh Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 While the delivery takes awhile PCspecialist is fucking brilliant. I love my new PC and it plays like a beast. 10/10

Recommended cpu spec is for 3ghz single core..Yeah but I figured that's just bad analysis from the app that checks your specs, I haven't had any problems in that department while running the game.
triforce_keeper Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 I bought a pc from them last year, great company and really good value. Only down side is the time it takes to arrive.
Eddage Posted February 8, 2007 Author Posted February 8, 2007 Cheers for the replies guys, its sounding good! Anyone else bought a PC from them?

Shorty Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 whats the cable mangenment(sp) like in them? is it really messy like dells or do they take there time? It's awesome. The inside is very well organised and cooled, cables are all wrapped together. Very well put together PC.
Fresh Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 I will add one thing, My PC got delivered with a EU power cable not a UK one, I'm using one from my old Dell right now.

My monitor came with both EU and UK cables, for example, but one was packaged seperately.
Fresh Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Well mine only came with 2 power cables, I'll check the boxes again later.
