It's on it's way. Smash Bros. Pokemon Battle Arena, Crystal Chronicles and Battalion Wars 2 will be the first games to feature online modes. Be patient my son.

After nearly a decade of being denied online gaming while the service has been available, we'll finally get the chance to play a multitude of games online on a Nintendo HOME CONSOLE (PORTABLES EXCLUDED).

Not too many Nintendo franchises are really suited for online play (I can only think of Mario spin-offs, Battalion Wars and awesome Pikmin deathmatches) so hopefully the online capabilities of the Wii will inspire Ninty into creating some new ideas.

I think all franchises are suited to online, perhaps not the core series, but much like mario spin offs - and by that I mean looking at wario and dk, which are related to mario (however loosely) and are now able to stand on their own merits.

Metroid universe could be very interesting, as could Hyrule, F-zero could be awesome if done properly (I imagine that won't be until the Wii's successor, but we may get a glimmer of whats to come this gen).

Starfox could also be expanded, again, not necessarily as the core characters, but in that universe.

then obviously you have all that you have already mentioned. If the wii is as successful as it is promising to be, then perhaps we won't have to rely on Nintendo.

Yeah, I guess you're right. I don't think the big 3 (Mario, Zelda and Metroid) are really suited for online play, or multiplayer even. They are single player games.

Now I think of it, I'd like Nintendo to revive Star Fox into a Battlefield-like game. That would be an instant buy.

you dont think metroid is suited to online play?
They'd have to turn it into a true FPS (and not the gameplay we got in MP2 multiplayer) and I don't see why Nintendo would have to reissue Metroid Prime Hunters for that. New franchise please.

Also, I don't really like Metroid's setting for multiplayer games, but that's just me I guess.
