I'll go against logic with this one

Recommended Posts

I dont see where all the hype for Day of disaster and Hammertime is coming from

If they werent Nintendo games we all would of dismissed them long ago

I'm not hyping them, I'm just saying they are New IPs, dunno if they're actually going to be good or anything but Pit Jr. said there are none, I quickly corrected him

Plus I cant believe you people are moaning about visuals...my god I thought we were past this

I'm 'moaning' about visuals because I don't like spending money on a new console that has last generation visuals (if that!). Wii's graphics are truly shocking.

To each their own. Personally I wouldnt care if it had N64 graphics as long as it had fun games. Besides, you're taking it way out of proportion. The visuals are blatantly better than Cube Visuals for th most part. Yes some 3rd Party games are shocking (Far Cry for example) but they're still getting used to the hardware and they did only receive final development systems in June for release 6 months later. Not bad really

yeah thats my view on it, it's not like we are moaning cos the graphics aren't as good as the 360, we are moaning cos they aren't even as good as even the PS2!!!!

Why is it so difficult to have fun games with innovation etc AND next generation visuals though? Best of both worlds.

Blatantly better than Cube visuals? What like WarioWare, Rayman, Far Cry and Monkey Ball?

No way, I'm convinced they're worse than the majority of GC games.

No it's not, Wii visuals are probably on par with the PSP. How embarrassing is that.

They are, and Nintendo actually ENCOURAGES this.

Yes Wario Ware, Rayman & Monkey Ball do look a fair bit better than their Cube counterparts.

Wario Ware is crisper and still manages to keep the Retro feel (I cannot believe you're actually moaning about Wario Ware visuals...do you know how ridiculous that is).

Rayman being a MiniGame game has good visuals. All the MiniGames are seperately done with great effects and models, specially in the Bunny Hunt games. It's going for a cartoony look...oish. MUMMY...SCOOBY DOO LOOKS LIKE A CARTOON AND NOT LIKE A REALISTIC DOG WITH FUR AND SHARP TEETH. WHY ISNT HE BITING SHAGGY AND GIVING HIM RABIES? WAAAAA

Same with Monkey Ball. Clearer graphics, more colourful but going for a different Artisitc style that the cube games. The graphics are crisper and a bit cel shaded. Just because you dont like the new style doesnt make it worse than those graphics. Notice the levels tend to be a lot bigger in the Wii game as well.

Far Cry...I just cannot defend that. Don't think anyone can lol

They are, and Nintendo actually ENCOURAGES this.

Sure they are? Source please?

Hey it's all well and good syaing we're past visuals now. We probably are mostly. But what about other people?

Most of my mates won't buy a wii because it isn't as good looking as the 360/Ps3. That's not my opinion, it's the opinion of a lot of people who aren't nintendo fans already.

My main problem is that there are party games uhhhrrrrvrywhere. You can't turn your head in the wii universe without seeing a party game. I'm almost certain this will shift in time, with more solid/traditional games being released once Nintendo's new market are sucked in. But it's a bit gay we have to wait so long for the non-gamers to catch up.

I do have confidence in Nintendo's overall success this time round though. It's all well and good building an amazing machine with incredible graphics. You'll get a huge audience through that. But I'm sure that 'visuals-based' gamers are in the minority, compared to non-gamers who Nintendo are specificly targetting at the moment.

It's a case of compromise. Party games and underperforming graphics for a while. But an absolutely huge fan base by the end of that.

It's just a shame nintendo's loyal fans have to take a back seat for a while.

What about Starfox Adventures on the Cube? Resident Evil? Those were stunning games.

Raving Rabbids... fair enough they're cartoony (does Nintendo have the balls to try something non cartoony?) but that doesn't mean the graphics are great. Look at the crowd scenes in the colloseum, they're not actually moving, they're just switching between different images for each body position! It looks a very unpolished game that could have easily been on the GC.

WarioWare... whatever lol - Course that couldn't have been done on the GC

Monkey Ball, again... nothing wrong with the style, all I was saying was it could have been done on the GC.

But it's a bit gay we have to wait so long for the non-gamers to catch up.

Nice maturity there. But on the whole I agree with you.

The truth is, I have mates that were like that, saying about how the Wii has crap visuals and they wont buy one. They then came round my house, played the games and didnt complain about the visuals ONCE, they even said the visuals were good and worked well with the games.

I don't see what your problem is... why can't we have fun innovation and next generation visuals?

I'm sorry, you're asking if Nintendo has the balls to do something non cartoony when talking about Rayman? Forgive me but who published it, who developed it and notice the other consoles its on?

And Nintendo doing stuff Non-Cartoony;

  • Metroid Prime
  • Day of Disaster
  • ZELDA: TP
  • Project Hammer

And so forth

Hiroshi Yamauchi:

-Nintendo has no plans to release a so-called ‘next-generation’ videogame console at the next year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas. We will rather make a new proposal that uses the GameCube at its core.

QFT!

Gamers don’t just want beautiful graphics, sounds and epic stories

Not QFT!

Those are things called EXAMPLES hence the "And so forth". I'm not going to bloody sit and list all of them. Stop taking everything at face value and start reading

I'm actually writing a research paper for "Gameplay VS Graphics? Which sells more to the consumer?" and have got some interesting results so far...this topic is actually interesting :p

The graphics whoreage is going a little bit too far for the time being....I cant say I have seen any of the next gen consoles produce anything stunning visually, its unfair to level the arguement solely at the Wii.

Again I suppose it comes down to what you expect from a game and console, but for 'bang for your buck' factor I would say PS3 and 360 are trailing a lot more relatively in the graphic stakes.

To be honest, i am a complete graphics whore.

Total, utter, graphics whore. I drooled over Gears of War and i'm not going to deny that.

Yet, i was playing Wario Ware earlier and enjoying it far far more. Okay, so they're totally different games, but the graphics in Wario Ware are simplistic yet utterly fantastic.

Nintendo aren't gunna push graphics like they did with the 'Cube. Whats the point? It increases budgets, they are trying to push out cheap and casual games whilst trying their best to cater for our market.

EDIT: Also... (as much as i hate to use caps.) THE THINGS BEEN OUT FOR ONE FREAKING MONTH.

For once, i have to agree with Serebii.

No, not stunning at all

Of course it's more important for games to be fun, but next gen visuals such as these enhance the experience.

Lazy ports of PS2 games, do not.

Now are those actual in game graphics or pre-made renders? A Lot of companies release the pre-made renders out before the games come out and many end up falling flat compared to it. Such as Motorstorm on the PS3

And that Gears one looks touched up.

Obviously you've never played either game. I have and they are stunning like that. Hence why I know they're in game.

So you'd be complaining if Wii had the PS3 or 360's power with the added bonus of the current innovation?
