david.dakota Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 IGN are reporting that Japanese dveeloper g-rev.com have an updated release schedule which includes those magic words NiGHTS follow up. You'll find IGN's report http://uk.wii.ign.com/articles/753/753174p1.html. It certainly gives credence to those rumours that will not cease - that Wii will be home to a new NiGHTS game. Fingers crossed.
Goron_3 Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 This rumours been around for a while i think. I never got to play the original but the more games the Wii gets, the better.
That Guy Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Well, that would involve Sega doing something the fans actually want, so unlikely.
raven_blade2006 Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Well, that would involve Sega doing something the fans actually want, so unlikely. You have a good point there.
Hellfire Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 But can SEGA handle it? Maybe it would be better if they could just release it on the VC
Hero-of-Time Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Again the rumour has been around for ages and again I also doubt Segas ability to make a decent game. All they really have to do is to give the first game a graphical makeover and keep everything else the same ( apart from the control method ) and they will have a winner.
James McGeachie Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 But can SEGA handle it? Maybe it would be better if they could just release it on the VC Don't think it's possible. As far as I'm aware they've yet to successfully emulate the game anytime they've tried, Saturn emulation is just that difficult.
solitanze Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Expect a sequel to Billy Hatcher & The Giant Egg instead.
Zechs Merquise Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Well, that would involve Sega doing something the fans actually want, so unlikely. Like making a decent Sonic game in 3D? Expect a sequel to Billy Hatcher & The Giant Egg instead. HAHAHA, I love your posts. On a serious note though, why have sega let so many of their killer series die? How about an Alex Kid game?
solitanze Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 House Of The Dead Wii is a must. Light gun style play courtesy of the Wii gun peripheral shown at E3 or even without it, just using the Wii remote. Perceived as a mature title. Will draw people in and will provide the foundation for considerable reputation repair for both Sega and Nintendo.

Now that is a great idea, how about HotD one, two and three in a great compilation, all true to the arcade on the Wii. I think Namco should do the same with Time Crisis. That would be spectacular, so would Virtua Cop, after all, Wii is the first console which doesn't need a lightgun, hence with no extra peripherals needed to play these games would be far more accessible.

I'd also like to see any of the two games you just mentioned as well. Rather entertaining. Sucked up a lot of my loose change at the arcades these games did.
daftada Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Have you played HotD 4 yet? That would be so suited to Wii, you have to shake your weapon to shake off zombies. If Nights came to Wii how do you think it would be best controllled? Personally i'd go with a Kirby cursed canvas method, with the wii remote tracing your path and maybe using the analogue to rotate the world left nd right.
That Guy Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Like making a decent Sonic game in 3D? Like making a decent 3d Sonic, like making a Nights sequel, like making the next in the series of Shenmue, like making a Panzer Dragoon game, how about a new Jet Set Radio? Like doing something that isn't Shenmue Online and Sonic the Hedgehog.
Zechs Merquise Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Have you played HotD 4 yet? That would be so suited to Wii, you have to shake your weapon to shake off zombies. Yeah that would be good. I would love to see the first re-made though as it was my fave in the series. I liked the second too. I have barely played 3 or 4. However to have 4 as a Wii exclusive would be cool. Maybe have the first as an unlockable bonus! Like making a decent 3d Sonic, like making a Nights sequel, like making the next in the series of Shenmue, like making a Panzer Dragoon game, how about a new Jet Set Radio? Any of the above!
DCK Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Like making a decent 3d Sonic, like making a Nights sequel, like making the next in the series of Shenmue, like making a Panzer Dragoon game, how about a new Jet Set Radio? Each of the games you mention give so many ideas with the Wiimote Now Sega needs to hire some quality people, because their franchises are begging for it.
That Guy Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Regardless of the Wii, Sega should get their arse's i gear and get some good games out for once.
pedrocasilva Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Don't think it's possible. As far as I'm aware they've yet to successfully emulate the game anytime they've tried, Saturn emulation is just that difficult.A port of Nights to the PC was supposed to happen, so I guess they could port it if they wanted, also a lot of saturn games were ported to the DC (including Nights 2; eventually canceled, and Shenmue); Sega incidentally adapted DC/Naomi boards dev tools for easy porting over for Gamecube/Triforce boards. It's possible... but if they were to port it they might aswell make a new one. Expect a sequel to Billy Hatcher & The Giant Egg instead.Underated game; besides Yuji Naka has left the building.
triforce_keeper Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Underated game; besides Yuji Naka has left the building. QFT! I loved billy hatcher for some reason.
pedrocasilva Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Sega's Poll: Vote here: -> http://www.sega.com/home.php
SimonM7 Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 What a hopelessly limited poll. - NiGHTS - huh? - what!? - bacon. - whoppie! I can wear a shoe as a hat! Would've been about as obvious.
pedrocasilva Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Streets of Rage was a well known franchise, aswell as virtua cop (although I don't remember it being that popular). Also, it's pretty obvious that they are most likely reffering to wii as Samba de Amigo and virtua cop could only be done on wii without any extra add-ons... But yeah, if they had NiGHTS and Panzer Dragon in the options I'd be like... "well... I want both, equally" This doesn't happen with this poll though.
SimonM7 Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Well they're prolly not sitting there waiting for green light on pursuing a revival of one of their past franchises based on a poll, so it's fairly pointless in that regard. That's why the selections just seem rather uninspired to me considering much more oft-mentioned series worthy of sequels. Space Channel isn't on there, Jet Set Radio, Shenmue, Comix Zone, Panzer Dragoon Saga. If we're talking wet revival dreams they seem curiously avoided in writing that poll.
Gaijin von Snikbah Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 This is great. Nights leading by far is also great.
gaggle64 Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Virtua Cop -> Samba di Amigo -> Nights -> Flicky -> Streets of Rage. That is all.
