conzer16 Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 According to NoE themselves, Europe purchased 325,000 Wii concoles in only 2 days, with over 100,000 of these purchases in the UK alone, making Wii the fastest selling home video-games console ever. TLoZ:TP sold approximatley 240,000 copies, that means 3 out of every 4 people who bought a Wii also bought the latest instalment of the Zelda series and 50% of Wii hardware purchasers also bought Wii Play (with an extra Wii remote). There is also some encouraging news for those who haven't been able to get hold of a Wii yet as Nintendo say daily shipments are now arriving across Europe to replenish stock. Laurent Fischer, Marketing Director at NoE also said For those who were unable to buy Wii during the launch weekend, rest assured more stock is already on its way and we are doing everything possible to ensure that a steady supply of Wii units is shipped to stores across Europe throughout December and into 2007. Not to be outdone by the Wii, the DS sold a staggering 515,000 units across Europe last week. This is most any console across all formats has ever sold in a week and takes total sales of the DS in (what is perceived to be) Nintendo's worst treated major territory to over 8.5 million!!! Hamish Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Bravo Nintendo. Bravo. But I don't get it. We all know this, but my mates think that "Nintendo is going down the drain."
Samdecahedron Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Damn i just read this i was gonna post. Oh well. This is really good news for Nintendo, now it just needs to make sure people keep buying it, unlike a certain purple cube.
KKOB Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3155877 ^^^ 1up.com are saying 350,00o units in 2 days- very odd. AWESOME news though.
KKOB Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 oooooooo oooo oooooo My Japanese teacher, Shaw-sensei, is thinking of getting a DS Lite, i'm going to bring in Brain Training to let her try it out and hopfully persuade her into it. She's like 40 or more and is as sweet as anything so i hope she does get one anywho . . .
fanman Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Those DS sales are excessive. I want a wii though...!
Zyneth Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 What's with those ridiculously high DS sales? Perhaps DS Lites were bought by disappointed potential Wii customers.
fanman Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Potential wii owners have spent the week sulking. Well... at least I have done...
Dante Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Sony says: The Wall Street Journal (subscription required) has an article out that indirectly outlines Nintendo's comeback into the gaming world. Accordingly, U.S. retailers estimate that nearly 1.5 million Wiis will be sold before Christmas, about twice as many as the PS3. Nintendo explains that "Demand, as you can see from the reaction of consumers, has been greater than even we had hoped for." Sony's response? "We feel very confident that the PlayStation fan is going to wait until they can get a PlayStation 3...If they do pick up a Wii, it's as more of a novelty," says Sony spokesman Dave Karraker.
olilan Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 What's with those ridiculously high DS sales? It must be the Christmas effect - the DS Lite, at its price point, is perfectly placed for Christmas presents. Maybe that means they'll shift another half-million this week and next week!
Yoochem Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 325,000, and my Wii's NOT one of 'em... I really really hope I'll be able to get one before christmas! The shop I where I ordered one said it will be likely that I can get one next week, and I hope that's true. And to think that in other shops that I went to there was no chance of still getting a Wii this year
