Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World
ghost_zero replied to jammy2211's topic in Nintendo Gaming
@Mokong X-C: I still can't get it to work. Tried various combinations with the Dark & Ligh elements - one time dark as major, one minor as light, then dark and light as minor and dark as major, ... EDIT: OK. I just found out what I was missing. You also need to have both (not just e.g. Emil) equipped with the Special Skill. -

Isn't a normal Unison attack in general for combining two or more characters attacks to one bigger attack? But I am not completely sure if we mean the same thing. However, it very likely has to do with the elemental grid - did you have both elements in it (Emil's and Marta's)? -

OK. That is true too but I guess we will see what comes out of it... Regarding this: Well you are correct here too but I meant more like replacing what happened in Dawn of the New World or remaking Dawn of the New World - and enhancing it to a main series game - but as said that is more than unlikely However, I think that Dawn of the New World is still a good game. However, it could have been way better though (e.g. especially regarding re-used dungeon designs). But well: A full Tales of game (preferable made from the Symphonia team) would be good too Btw. can anyone answer my question some posts above: -

Ah. OK. Maybe I over-read that part Strange however, at the first playthrough I normally read everything thoroughly. @pedrocasilva: Well: At least Namco said that the next main series will be on the Wii, didn't they? Btw.: You are right that is not a main series but I wouldn't call it spin-off either. If you ask me it is something between spin-off and main (Still would be nice to see a full Symphonia sequel though but that is very, very unlikely because normally Tales of games don't even get something like DtNW). Btw. regarding the story in Symphonia 1 - I thought it was a really nice story. Regarding RPGs which Europeans don't know: That is often also because we don't even get those titles Regarding Tales of not even the US did get nearly all titles, most were Japanese only - regarding that matter it never made sense to create such a game for the XBox 360 because Japan has no real existent userbase for the XBox 360 (but that you already mentioned). @Sheikah: Regarding battle system: I wonder: How would you change the battle-system? After all I think the battle system is nearly brilliant (however, I also love turn based RPG games, however Tales of is not a game series which should use a turn based battle system) - especially because you can also play the battles with friends. I mean small changes were even in the Tales of games (like Unison attacks a.s.o.). -

@Sheikah: I even prefer Legendia though over Final Fantasy XII (at least in my eyes) and Legendia really wasn't that great (though I somehow liked the story and maybe I am the only one but some music titles I think were great too but otherwise it wasn't good). I just mentioned this to state that the Final Fantasy series isn't/wasn't that good anymore either. Maybe with XIII it will get better again - who knows. -

Regarding Skits: As D_prodigy already mentioned ToS1 had it, Legendia had it too and I believe some others. However, it is true that Abyss didn't have it (at least I don't know of such a possibility) and I also think ToS Dawn of the New World doesn't have it (or at least I can't find it). -

Btw.: Is there a possibility somewhere in the game to replay watched skits? -

@The-chosen-one: When was the evolving possibility explained in the game? Because I only noticed it at the end of the game because I needed stronger monsters to defeat -

I have to say that I liked Dawn of the New World (not as much as ToS 1 but still). However, one of the major things I hated about this game was that the other (old ToS) chars couldn't really be leveled up and that you couldn't change their equipment either. Regarding the world map: Yeah would have been nice to have it, however I have to admit somehow I also liked it a bit to don't have it, especially when you needed to get from one point to another or one town to another because of the quest or something like this (there even was a skit sometime in that game which mentioned "quick-jump"). I think a combination of a normal/full world map and such a map (for quick jumping - AFTER you were once in that town/temple) would be a good idea. Somehow the games is long though. I mean if you think about the missing world map the game isn't that short because if it would have gotten a world map, it would be way longer to play through it. Regarding dungeons: Though they were remapped it was still fun to visit them, especially because some things changed - actually I find many of the puzzles in Dawn of the New World more complicated than most of ToS1 - OK, maybe that is because ToS1 I have played now more often or so - (but yeah new dungeons and some old dungeons would have been better). Not to mention that the ToS cast didn't really tell Marta and Emil what really happened in ToS 1. I mean I understand that the didn't tell them the world trees name because of their vow or so but not telling them what really happened is a bit strange after they got friends. Wonder if they will make a "real" sequel for that game later on - I highly doubt it though but... Btw. there is one thing I don't get about the end of the game: -
Is it even known if this game will make it to any country other than Japan (yet)?

Arc Rise Fantasia (Marvelous/Image Epoch)

Cool. Normally such games are games that don't make it outside of Japan that often. I wonder when that game will come out -

Is there even known if this game will even see an US release (I am not talking about release date but more about IF).? If so, will this game also see an European release? -
Is there already known how long it approximately takes to beat this game?

Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World
ghost_zero replied to jammy2211's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Well: We will see how the next "Tales of" will turn out on the Wii then... I hope that it will be a fully "Tales of" game (regarding world map and so). But I am still very interested in this game and will surely import it... -

@Emasher: I think you are right that the opening is more like an anime opening than a videogame but well... The content is more important than the opening -
I just hope this game comes out outside Japan, at least in the US - so I can import it OK. I could import the Japanese version too but I wouldn't understand anything, so that is not such a good idea, as one thing I really like about RPG games, is the story and without understanding anything, you don't get much from the story...
-
That might be because the game is afterall PS2 remake and the PS2 didn't have that great graphics... However, it is a rogue-like RPG and that is different from normal RPGs anyway. You either like them or not...
-
As I already stated: Especially with Baten Kaitos - I think if you like the game or not is very subjective.
-
Though for Baten Kaitos there is also the prequel. I prefered the original fighting system though over the changed one in Baten Kaitos Origins BUT I think the story was a bit better then the one of Baten Kaitos. If you ask me both had a good story though. However, regarding Gameplay and that you need to like it - otherwise I don't think that the game will be that great (it will still be good but not great or something like this). I however really liked it. Though I think I liked ToS the most. I thnk second is Skies of Arcadia though (because of the story and because you have so many "options" in that game). However, though Baten Kaitos and Baten Kaitos Origins follow afterwards - and there weren't much more RPGs for the GameCube - I still think it is one of the better RPGs (comparing it with all the RPGs I played, also on other consoles). But well: All that is - of course - extremely subjective.
-
That's not true. The fighting works perfectly. The difference is however that instead of how it was done in Zelda, you have to do it probably. It is not just shaking around BUT you have to time, e.g. move it from left to right and then WAIT until it got executed and then do it from the right to the left. It is more like really fighting a.s.o. However, for the rosaries I think it was a bit more like Zelda. And regarding the pointer there "..." said everything already. WHAT I disliked about Okami though, was the USE of the NUNCHAK for dodging. THAT just didn't work well. Well: I think it could work perfectly, if the Nunchak would have motion support like the controller itself. However, it might could have been done better with the current Nunchak though - I mean it still could be some sort of calculation problem currently (though I doubt it).

Arc Rise Fantasia (Marvelous/Image Epoch)
ghost_zero replied to pedrocasilva's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Is there already known if this game will get released outside Japan (best would be Europe but will it at least see an US release)? -
I just found out that there are more third party games I am interested in than I thought (it has only to do with this topic as I believe third party was a reason why there wasn't much from Nintendo themselves) - though probably none will get released in 2008 in Europe (if those even come to Europe) but there are games like "Arc Rise Fantasia", "Little King Story", "Fragile", "Fatal Frame 4", "Tales of Symphonia Dawn of the New World", "Oboro Muramasa Youtouden", "The Conduit", "Rune Factory Frontier" and maybe there are some more... Though I still don't know which games of those I will really buy or will really be worth buying BUT I am at least intersted in those...
-
I wonder if they could still include Wii Motion Plus in that game and if it would be of any use here (though I think probably not really needed for that game).
-
It should be after that bridge. There is a Dojo before though but from what I remember, it didn't let you learn double-jump (could be wrong though). Btw.: You already know/learned about the mermaid wells/coins to travel through the world faster?
-
@Gizmo: Regarding attacking look at my first post on this page - there I explained how it works with other tings than rosaries: http://www.n-europe.com/forum/showpost.php?p=800797&postcount=415 Regarding the double jump, you can learn it by the second dojo. It is in the field after that big bridge (the field that leads to the capital) - I believe at least it was there, the only thing I can say for sure is: It is on an island and you have to swim there. Btw. that field is the coast I meant. @Tales: There is a third Dojo later in the game too.
