Well that's an awesome surprise! (and a stark reminder of how we would normally have gotten a surprise Direct to go along with it...) The SMM stage is amazing BTW! Way too much fun! (Too fun for the For Glory players :p )
-
Well, the jump shots alone should really shake up the game (you best be careful with those cheeky lobs!) But yeah, they really haven't shown much about it at all... I do expect that they are holding back a lot about it, cause we really haven't seen anything at all outside of the standard singles/doubles mode on the grass court and I'm pretty sure that it's gonna have more than one court...

US date got announced (Nov 20). Looks like we also have a final box art design as well... MUCH better (also has the Nintendo Network logo, so if you had any doubts about it lacking online play, that's that sorted)

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Wii U / Switch
Dcubed replied to darkjak's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I'm not. We're not gonna hear anything till E3 2016. Pretty sure about that... -
About time they finally released some new footage!! There's a Shadow Battle style mode!? Why the hell have they only just announced this now!!?! Looks dumb as hell and awesome! Oh and don't worry, @Glen\-i will be the only one who I throw down those holes
-
It is indeed. On the other hand though, Starfox Zero being pushed back is a blessing for them. If they can get it out in November, they'll be pretty well placed as far as Wii U titles go

TBH, outside of the Dragon Quest games, the 3DS has had an exceptionally good localisation record. Almost nothing of significance actually ended up being left behind (I'm assuming that Rhythm Heaven 3DS, Band Bros P, Monster Hunter X, Monster Hunter Stories and the remaining Yokai Watch & LBX games will end up coming out either next year or shortly afterwards). Again, outside of anything DQ related, it's pretty much just EX Troopers, Gaist Crusher, Hero Bank and The Great Ace Attorney as the major games that ended up failing to cross the pond (oh and the Puyo Puyo games as less major titles of course ). Who would ever want to!? Reyn's voice overs were hilarious and brilliant (actually, all of the English voices were exceptionally brilliant. I'd never choose the JPN voices over them!)

That description has about as much effort put into it as Nicalis' European releases in general

I do play my 3DS a lot less these days, but it's really because it's going through its twilight phase now. It's that weird, awkward time where not much is coming out and you feel less enthusiastic about the good games that are still coming out for it, even though you would normally be more excited for them. The platform lacks a buzz around it right now as all eyes turn to its not-too-far-off successor... ... Speaking of which! http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1117781 Nintendo Selects just got announced for 3DS! You know when you're coming to the end of a Nintendo console/handheld's lifecycle when Player's Choice/Nintendo Selects gets started (strange that the initial set includes ALBW and not OoT 3D BTW )
-
Holy crap! Nicalis actually finally remembered that Europe exists!!! Too late now though. I went ahead and got it on Steam ages ago during the sale. Not buying it again at this point now.

Medabots: Metabee/Medabots: Rokusho this week.

Nah, we're talking about the original Wii game. FAST Racing Neo is the sequel that's due to come out later this year.

Yeah, it is really tough! The rubber banding is just crazy, especially on the highest difficulty! All I can suggest is to just practice and to stick with the Faia VM and the DT Bozuton when you unlock it. The other cars aren't worth bothering with :p

You know what's annoying? When you're trying to make a set of 4 levels (World 2-1 to 2-4) and you keep coming up with too many good ideas to put into early levels so that you have to keep taking them out (putting them into their own respective new levels) and making these early levels over and over again... I've had to make my 2-4 level three times now! I'm never gonna end up releasing anything new at this rate!
-
Well I'm looking forward to it at least While it may not be the best timing for yet another 2D platformer this late into a generation that has had a flood of them throughout, it does look like a lot of fun with that typical Chibi Robo charm. Plus it's always awesome whenever a cute little guy like Chibi gets to really show the world what a badass he really is. Oh hey, psst... NOE! You know that it's not too late to change the name to Chibi Robo: The Badass Robot right?

I already use the 1up mushrooms as Star Coins myself :p

Bingo. The retailers set whatever price they want, but the standard RRP of Wii U games is and has always been £49.99 in the UK. Has been that way ever since launch, even if nobody other than B&M GAME have had the balls to charge that much for them. It's only in the last year or so that Nintendo has started releasing Wii U games at variable RRP prices around the world (These games are all cheaper than the standard $59.99 price in the US as well)
-
The reason why it's £50 on the Nintendo Store (and the eShop) is because that's the standard RRP for Wii U retail titles (MM and YWW were released at lower than full price RRP). Every other online store will charge £34.99-39.99 for it though as no 3rd party store ever really sells games for RRP (likewise, if you want the digital version for cheaper, you can get a download code from GAME for the same price as the physical version at retail - so probably £39.99)
-
Don't worry, that drove me mental too :p

Think about the kinds of puzzles you solve and the environments you traverse in Zelda games. Things like hookshot grappling points, pickups like hearts/rupees/whatever, platforms that you can jump/climb onto or vines that you can climb (as opposed to vines that are purely decorative) just wouldn't stand out to the player with a realistic art style being used, as everything sort of blends together. Well Zelda Wii U is a clear example of how they go about designing a Zelda game with a "realistic" look (the main character is obviously celshaded and the game is heavily stylised, but it certainly features relatively realistic looking landmass)... To lazily repeat myself from when the E3 2014 trailer was announced :p Even singular rocks in Twilight Princess stand out as being something that you can specifically interact with, despite that having a somewhat realistic (albeit still heavily stylised) art style. Visual gameplay clarity is Nintendo's number 1 priority when it comes to art/graphic design; which is why they never really go for a photo-realistic look; even with hardware that is contemporary in spec for the time. I mean, there's nothing stopping them from making a game that looks like The Witcher 3, but it doesn't fit with their Gameplay First philosophy because "noisy" visual design can obscure the field of play. This also applies to non-realistic games as well. Take the New Super Mario Bros games as an example. Ever notice how they never use foreground decorations in the levels? Or how the backgrounds are always muted in colour (or with a light depth of field applied) and relatively simple (some might even say boring looking) in terms of design? That's not them being lazy, it's entirely intentional because they want the player's focus to be on the actual platforms/enemies that they can jump on. With something like Rayman Origins/Legends, games where the beautiful art is the big focus, there are loads of times where you find yourself jumping onto parts of the background that you think are interactive, but actually aren't. In Mario? That never happens because they've removed all the visual "clutter" that can obscure the view of the action. It's neat seeing old classics rendered in this way; they guy clearly has some crazy talent! It's just not something that Nintendo would ever actually attempt themselves because it compromises the playability of their games.

Cool little update! http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1115986 Looks like they're getting the person who VA'd the announcer in F-Zero GX to be the announcer for FRN! YEAH!!! THE FINAL LAP!
-
I think I'm gonna give the limited edition version a miss. The only thing I'm even remotely interested in would be the art book and since it's not gonna be a full size one, it's not worth an extra £20 to me (especially when I'm gonna be buying two copies anyway!)
-
Ha ha! Brilliant idea for a leaderboard! Gutted that I didn't think of it! Great stuff all round and some great levels by all! : peace:
-
Looks cool, but Nintendo would never actually make a game that looks like that (no matter their hardware spec) because it's not really clear what is interactive and what is not. With a super realistic look like that, all the details sort of blur together. It's the same reason why Nintendo use unrealistic shadows in Super Mario 3D World, despite having semi-realistic lighting... Notice how the shadows of the characters are still rendered below them? It's completely unrealistic but it's necessary in order to always make it clear where the player is going to land when jumping.

Didn't get time to play anymore in the end, oh well :p The Air path is quicker
