  1. Theres to much tax revenue to be lost introducing a total ban on ciggarettes .Banning people from smoking in pubs and restruaunts etc, in my opinion, does not encourage a majority to smoke or even drink any less . The landlords of small pubs with regular smokers are the ones who get hit hardest financialy ,the government looses nothing. I find it very unsettling that some people just roll over and accept these new laws without question . We are currently being assaulted with a barrage of new laws ,most of which will have serious repercussions for our civil freedoms, by a government that is totaly obsessed with any form of social controll. A ban on smoking is only the tip of the iceberg.
  2. Mmm, just reading this made me reach for the packet and lighter .Its political correctness gone mad. Ive recently been in some of these smoke free pubs♣ and trust me ,THEY STINK. If there is no smoke there is the overpowering stench of sweat, dampness, stale drink from the carpets and seats, cheap perfumes and bad breath. If the government are truly concerned with our health why dont they just ban ciggarettes totaly ?. I know why they wont .
  3. Try sham 69 or the stranglers. the stranglers are by far the greatest band ever to come from manchester ,dont listen to those oasis simpletons. also try the velvet underground or lou reeds "new york" album, its quality. some have said the animals are good ,i agree, but i hear they have recently been taken to task over their lyrics for "house of the rising sun". apparantly theres NOT a house in new orleans . ooer sorry about that one.
  4. I have word from a higher authority that death is just the next stage in our evolution and there are many stages after that . Anyway, when i die i want my body stuffed by a taxidermist and passed round the family so ill never really be missed .A cheery grin will be permanently etched on my face and an arm held aloft in eternal waving . May i never fall into the hands of some sad necropheliac though.
  5. Playing the water temple in OOT, pure genius. The fading dark samus, at last. Jumping on the helicopter after beating alec treyvalian in oo agent. Replacing the master sword to the sound of the bells at the end, i wept. And collecting 120 dark souls to give them all back to legion , achievment.
  6. Games truly are the best cure .There is no better means of escaping the shit. Feeling extremes are essential.
  7. Then again , if your heads to far in the sand to talk , try listening to some quality music ,unlike the metal above. Have a nice "smoke" and listen to the moody blues or ravi shankar or pink floyd ,the velvet underground . Or , alternatively, try some mushrooms or LSD and blast yourself with the doors, david bowie or led zeppelin. Or even alcohol with the sex pistols, sham 69 ,the stranglers or iggy pop . As the majority know , there is always a chemical and musical solution .
  8. Being depressed is nothing new to me either man, as i like philosophy i tend to ponder my existence and reality regularly, maybe too regularly, and this can have some depressing AND beneficial effect on me (heavy stuff i know) but essential to finding real happiness and some form of contentment. Im open to discuss anything from the totaly mundane to the totaly arcane. its part of being a real human. RELAX and talk about it.
  9. I have owned in total 52 gamecube games , more or less from the same lists as everyone else apart from small number of really dodgy ones ie: reign of fire ,the simpsons road rage . There has also been some supposedly dodgy 3rd party games that ive quite enjoyed believe it or not . eg:Dead to rights ( i loved kicking "pinnacles"head in), robotech battlecry was also good, and ace golf was great. Can anyone tell me if doshin the giant is any good? , ive always meant to buy it but then bought something else instead . Im also curious if any of you have bought a supposed shitty game and became quite fond of it?.
  10. Masaki86 strikes a chord , long time gamers really are accustomed to paying extortionate prices .Developers of QUALITY games know hardcore gamers such as ourselves would pay over the odds for their titles .If nintendo asked for £70 for twilight princess i know most of us guys would pay it rather than wait for second hands eh!, maybe we should blame ourselves because we are the ones who pay it.Monopolyman also says something important ,sony & microsoft are offering more or less the same type of game as this current generation has already (it only looks better) WOW. Meanwhile , nintendo are offering a totaly new way to play them and laying down the gaunlet for developers to be more creative at the same time, they are constantly evolving the games industry to keep it fresh and i think it is worth paying them (sensible prices) to keep it that way. by the way "harribo" i was talking with god the other day and i asked him what team he supports . He grabbed me by the collar ,looked into my eyes and said " THE CELTIC , THE MIGHTY GLASGOW CELTIC".
  11. I also remember £70 for n64 turok, hell, i even payed the same for perfect dark(inluding expansion pack) which was a damn sight more worth it. All this talk about £50-£60 for an xbox360 or ps3 game is depressing . 3rd party developers will hopefully balk at the cost and jump on the revo bandwagon (if EA doesnt buy them out first). Im one of those lucky enough to afford this expensive addiction of mine but some are not so fortunate ,as some point out its a bit tight on current consoles never mind next gen.Nintendo have a chance to score big time but if they follow the path of greed as sony and microsoft seem destined for theyll blow it. Its expensive enough already and a price hike by nintendo would be as welcome as haemaroids at rodeo.
  12. HI all, im new and 32 ( god, i feel old on this forum). Ive played many many games in my time and i cannot emphasize enough the importance music plays in adding atmosphere . I feel, if its done well, it can go a long way to deciding if the game itself sticks in your mind . For me, the music in shadowman on n64 was definetley the most atmospheric music ive heard in many games .Singularly, the boss music in the metroid prime games ,particularly QUADRAXIS, is totaly outstanding, kenji yamamoto is a genius. As ive said, im totaly new to these forums and i hope ,as an old git , to put this (nintendos for kids) shit argument to bed. c ya soon.
