  1. I refuse to watch it. I don't see why you'd spoil it for yourself. trailers are bad enough. in other news: Star Trek got 5 stars in the guardian from Bradshaw. Practically unheard of- the guy seems to have a default star ceiling of 2 for any film with the ardor to have a big cgi budget. I think he liked Cloverfield though, going back a bit.
  2. that's about as experimental / math rock as a fart in a bag. it's...not offensive, though. S'alright.
  3. The onion did a fantastic report on Star Trek. Absolutely hilarious.
  4. The Bourne Ultimatum Daft as you like super thriller but never less than absolutely gripping. The action is simply astonishing- particularly as it rarely lets up, and never gets boring. It's an assured finale to the series in slower moments too. Matt Damon is quietly impressive; he really carries off the air of Bourne being at once the unwilling fugitive and the lethal weapon in the same scene. Some of it is truly absurd (particularly the CIA's ability to hack any CCTV camera/phone/mobile signal in seconds as they choose) but when the direction and pace is so tight, who gives a shit? 10
  5. that still good then? it was awesome when I was buying trades.
  6. let me guess....he's a reporter again, isn't he?
  7. urgh. that sounds awful. And to think they took him so far with The Avengers and Civil War...
  8. he's...what? everything I hear about spiderman atm sounds shit.
  9. I haven't followed Spiderman in ages. It would make sense though.
  10. They changed engine something like 4 or 5 times. such a bunch of shit. did they make anything in all this time? Who in god's name funded this debacle, and with what?
  11. well isn't his 'dark reign' shtick this year's summer hoe down? I suppose he'll be gone by the end of the season. edit: I'd like to see Stark take him down. It'd be fitting, seeing as Norman usurped him in the first place after Secret Invasion.
  12. how in Gods name is Steve Rodgers back?
  13. Just grabbed Invincible Iron Man #13 today. Enjoyable as ever. I'm liking the way they're stripping the tech backwards every issue- it's quite the turn around; after intimately showing stark at the peak of his powers in the first arc of the series, the only way was down, really. The one thing I don't like is the colourists way of doing faces. The whole series has been rendered in a , generally, pretty sexy 'painted' look but when it comes to faces the technique seems to loose the finer details. Something isn't quite right when Normon Osbourne and Tony stark both look about 25.
  14. I have that issue. wowza.
  15. well I'd disagree, but it is a terrible first album to get in to. It's just not an easy album. but then, Mogwai are a band that brings to mind the discussion we had the other day about how we listen to music. Mogwai make albums, not songs. They become more rewarding when you make that distinction and consider each track a small piece of a whole.
  16. scrubs! Basically what Ashley said. It bordered on cheesy but...ah it was good. I really liked the final fantasy.
  17. still my favourite picture of me ever.
  18. that's crazy impressive. I imagine it's only the start mind, but still...wow.
  19. I might have to delete the posts.
  20. "woah. I know kung fu!" are you implying you've not seen Total Recall?
  21. oooh! my turn! Ok go for: Young Team. It's their first album and it's very interesting. All built around one central musical motif, it's a nice introduction to the various styles the band have gone on to expand on in their later work. Includes Mogwai Fear Satan which is arguably the best fifteen minutes of anything. ever. Mr Beast. One of their recent albums, and their heaviest to date. Has some absolutely monster riffs in. get this if you like bass lines you could damage concrete with. The Hawk Is Howling Sequel to, and more refined sibling of, Mr Beast. This is their latest album and it's very, very good. Happy Songs for Happy People. Irony lol. Mogwai at their most downbeat and introspective. This one is very slow and...meditative. It's very good though, if you're in the mood for some seriously intense thinking man's post rock.
