  1. You should add Alan Wake, Too Human, Tales of Vesperia, Forza (the third should be well underway by now) and Left4Dead to the 360 list (assuming 360/PC exclusives count) and God Of War III, Tekken 6, Wipeout HD, Grand Turismo 5 and White Knight Chronicles to the PS3. Also, Peter Jackson's Halo game is called Halo: Chronicles
  2. Who told you it was Banjo 3? Im pretty sure Rare haven't said it is, just the fans. You hyped yourselves up, so if you're disappointed then it's your own fault.
  3. Live 8 only took up half of Hyde Park, and Wireless is nowhere near that size! There will be plenty of room for us as well Live 8 went from the east end of the park all the way up to West Carriage Drive and down Exhibition Road. I'll try and find out where Wireless is held and how much of the park it takes up, there will defnitely be room for us as well though. EDIT: Here's a map of Live 8
  4. So really you're all complaining at yourselves. You're annoyed at yourselves for assuming that this game would be Banjo Kazooie 3, when in fact it probably isn't (afaik BK3 hasn't been mentioned at all). The moral of the story? Stop speculating. You lot have built yourselves up for a fall and are now blaming it on a game that, in all honesty, looks fantastic! Hold yourselves safe in the knowledge that BK3 probably will happen one day, and just enjoy this game for what it is! Neither was Star Fox Adventures, but that game gets slagged off constantly. Odd really, Sunshine wasn't any better than it, yet that game gets excused constantly...
  5. How long do you have? And can you buy/sell during the game? If you've got a short amount of time then you want to invest in companies that are likely to make big announcements before the time on you're game is up. Look for big exhibisions, or companies that haven't released their financial results yet for this year (as long as you know they did well).
  6. As has been said, it's all about the games really. The rest barely matters, if a console doesn't have the games you want to play then you won't enjoy it to the same extent. It's more important than Blu-Ray, more important than reliability, more important than a crappy controller or online service. whoawhoawhoawhoa! Mostly good post, but this bit is crap. Microsoft's support centres in the UK have a very good reputation. Not that we're treated the same as the US though, they have a better marketplace than us
  7. This thread is literally jammed with amateur dramatics! Give the game a bloody chance! It's not like the lords of everything (aka Nintendo) have never made a game with one of their franchises that makes you go "wtf?" to start with. Yes, it looks like a dramatic change, but it could turn out to be a very good game. So far this thread is mostly speculative bullshit based on very, very little info...
  8. First, this game looks fantastic! I really love the style of everything! As for the vehicle thing, if Rare manage to successfully integrate vehicles in to a platform game then it could be something really special. That coconut collecting bit is very platformery, so i keep my hopes up!
  9. Son of a gun! Well, if we're still doing it that weekend then im booking tickets for Morrissey on the Friday Morrissey Beck The Wombats Guillmots Dirty Pretty Things Lightspeed Champion For £45. Can't argue with that! (Especially given it NEVER sells out and they start flogging the tickets for £20-is at the end of June. It happens every year!)
  10. Hmm, not as bad as i was expecting. Think im 100% going now (finances depending), get there early and camp in Black
  11. I wouldn't buy that one, you want to bag yourself something that you can upgrade cheaply. A computer with DDR memory and an AGP graphics card is gonna cost you considerably more than one with DDR2 memory and a PCIe graphics card!
  12. Im still very tempted to go, even more so now i've started listening to some of the bands on Myspace. Stone Gods, Fall Of Troy, Army of Freshmen and Mexicolas are brilliant! Not to mention Skindred! No idea how i've managed to overlook these guys for years! At the end of the day it's about the music, and tbh im liking this years line-up more and more with each band i start listening to (only crappy one so far was Sons Of Albion, no idea how anyone could actually like them!). Having the camp site that far away from the arena isn't that big a deal, in the 5 years i've been doing the festivals i've popped back to my tent during the day twice (once was to put my tent up). A couple of miles in the morning and the same again in the evening certainly isn't going to spoil my enjoyment of the festival. Then again, it'll only take one more problem for me to lose all enthusiasm.
  13. Are you prepared to build? If so: AMD Sempron Dual 2100 Processor Asus M2A-VM Motherboard 1GB MicronMajor DDR2 PC-6400 RAM Seagate 80GB Hard Drive LG DVD Drive Asus TM-250 Case (inc 300W power supply) Total: £161.99 Then you just need to find a monitor. Based on that i would say no to that deal from your mate, his spec isn't as good as the above and the parts are 2nd hand...
  14. Woohoo The first was really good, so looking forward to this
  15. I still think that will surface at some point in the next few years, probably in line with the next Xbox/Windows 7 combo. I'd also expect Live to go free, paid for by the marketplace and advertising. Then again, maybe you're right. Maybe it won't happen. It just seems like too sensible an idea to forget about...
  16. Im not sure how successfull it will be either, but it will be Microsoft's next step. They're really trying to push the video marketplace as it is (and it might be successfull if they dropped the points system and accepted Maestro), the next step will be a quieter, more reliable machine with media integrated even deeper in to the console's functionality. It's the natural next step, and tbh they're the only company that look like they can pull off that sort of device in the next few years. What remains to be seen is whether or not the general public will buy in to such a device. As for useability, i'd expect the next Xbox will launch some time after Windows 7. Assuming it delivers what it promises then it should be fairly easy to hook the next Xbox up to a PC.
  17. So... to go, or not to go? One of my mates is using Download to celebrate his 21st Birthday so he's now trying to get me to go. I can't decide! Already got V and Reading booked and 3 big festivals in one year is mad! On the plus side there's a few bands i want to see that i can't see anywhere else, it'll be a good laugh with much drinkings etc. On the downside it's £150 + travel + expenses (so basically £300--£350) and i've seen most of the bands i want to see before. Gah! On a side note, the site map will be up in the next few days. They've had to change the layout due to complaints about the state the track was left in. It's gonna be nearly a 2 mile walk from camping to the main stage
  18. SSD cartridges won't happen, WAY too soon. They'll still be too expensive to be used as cartridges! As for where i think things are going: Microsoft Increased focus on games consoles as multimedia devices, as a result they'll be ensuring that the next console will be quieter and more reliable than the 360. Possible dropping of the Xbox brand to try and distance themselves from the gaming market (and the crappy 360 reliability problems). Microsoft's next console won't be a radical improvement in graphical power, just an incremental improvement over the 360. The CPU and GPU will be on the same piece of silicon and they'll be running a large capacity SSD instead of a Hard Drive. Optical media will be less prominant, they'll either go download only (removing the DVD drive completely) or they'll use an optical drive to rip games and DVDs (if the law changes in the US) to the SSD. 1080p will be the standard resolution, with downscaled 720p, 480p and 480i modes available. Possible support for 1440p (and higher) resolutions. Nintendo Similar focus to this generation, essentially the same system but with minor improvements. Motion sensing is refined, graphics improved, Hard Drive as standard. The console is still sold cheap and contains no multimedia functions. The console is similar in power to the PS3 (with a better GPU) and fully capable of High Defenition resolutions. Possibly a dropping of optical media in favour of SD cards (ala the DS) and radical improvements to the online service. Sony Not sure here. Blu-Ray will likely remain their chosen media so they'll be looking at keeping the machine as a damn good media player. Specs wise i see them launching the most powerfull machine for the 2nd generation running. It's also a pretty good bet that the PS4 will see the launch of Home :p Of course, all consoles will be integrating some sort of motion control for the next generaton. It'll vary from console to console though, and probably not be the main for of control of Sony or Microsoft.
  19. It's definitely not specs, i just checked and i can run TF2 with everything maxed out and get 40-60fps (but that's on Jailbreak, not tested an official map). If i can get that your comp should have no bother: AMD BE-2300 oc'd to 2.4GHz ATi Radeon x1950XTX 2GB PC2-6400
  20. And check model numbers, not just brands. Every brand has they're cheapo supermarket budget models, you REALLY don't want to confuse a Sony KDL-S3000 with a Sony KDL-U3000 (the latter being crap).
  21. It's CoD5 coming to Wii and PS2. They didn't phrase it very well, they are saying that CoD5 will launch on all 4 platforms that CoD4 launched on (i.e. Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Nintendo DS) as well as Wii and PS2.
  22. OK boys, you've had longer than you were supposed to. One last chance to arrange the match, this time you stick to it or you're out. Agree a time to play, if one team doesn't show then they forfiet and the other team go through. No excuses, not even for girlfriends/internet problems etc. So yeah, basically arrange the next one carefully because it's your last chance (and you're only getting this one because Rez's net screwed up)
  23. Looks good to me, sign me up! When are you going btw? 4th, 5th and 6th? Or just the 5th and 6th? Depends how much notice you give them. Tell them a couple of weeks in advance and they are usually fine. If you leave it until the day though then they'll charge the full whack and the rest of us will be paying for your empty place... Oh and my train stops at Euston too, so no bother meeting you there. We're probably on the same train tbh, Manchester to London.
  24. The 360, PS3 and PC user bases combined are far, far larger than the Wii's, it simply wouldn't be worth IW's time to port it to Wii alone. That is without considering the percentage of the Wii's user base that would actually buy Call Of Duty 4 on Wii (so remove everyone who isn't interested in the game and everyone who bought it on another platform). So why not make a PS2 port as well? Time. Activision wanted Infinity Ward to churn out a Call Of Duty game every year, Infinity Ward said they couldn't do it. They NEED a 2 year gap, they aren't the sort of studio to rush things. There is no way they would be able to make two builds of a Call Of Duty game at the same time and still release within 2 years! The only way Call Of Duty 4 would ever find it's way to Wii and PS2 is if another developer handled the port, otherwise it isn't going to happen. Infinity Ward can't spare the time. Maybe Activision will have Treyarch port it :p It's also for PS2 though, right? So the Wii will be getting an enhanced PS2 version (as usual). Handling the CoD4 engine does not mean it can handle CoD4 quality visuals.
  25. um yeah, im kind of late but, Happy Birthday!...
