I never knew it was a slasher flick! Ag! I don't blame you, but I think that with certain posts there's immediately the thought "ah, O_W's not gonna like this..." I do credit you for not relenting in your mission to convert the world it's just that it's very, very hard to be atuned to the Universal Score Scale. Give it a couple of years or a couple of re-watches and people will reflect on their own scores and alter them. In fact, surely that's a point? People rate films based on their enjoyment the first time round. I wonder if they'd rate them similarly on a rewatch or three?

haha I remember that! As I've said, I'm glad people turned up. Everyone was decent and chilled out all day. Frisbee knocked a few cars and nearly assassinated a few near-by bystanders, but was very fun. We played manhunt, and I managed to graze my face after running into a tree ¬_¬ Raining and Darksnowman were at the station while I was still at home! I started running down my road when I saw odwin driving up and past me, looking very lost and confused, so I ran back and saw him park outside our flat. Then I went streaming off to the station to meet the two irish crazeees, where we proceeded to get forumite after forumite texting/calling us saying "er, i'm by the fountain, where are you guys?" People did leave comparatively early, with most guys gone around 5, but it was cool to have Dan back at ours - he even sang on rock band! - and I had to go sleep at about 2 or perhaps earlier, as I was way too drunk to stay awake! Shall have to do it again, for sure.

Fear not murray - most bosses are idiots and much rather overlook their own stupidity. You got a contract? Working an extra bunch of hours than agreed isn't cool. - Today is meet-up day! DUN DA DA DUNNN!! Weather looks alright. Let's do this..

I think that this thread is all about opinions, to be honest. It's surely supposed to be a place where forumers can come to see recommended films to watch or avoid, based on hopefully some decent reasoning on teh user's part. I do actually tend to listen to certain posters more than others, but that's not to do with how they rate things, or how accurate they are to The True Value of the movie - it's in regards to how close their opinion is to mine. I think this thread should be treated as thus -- but that shouldn't discount discussions about the movie. Seriously O_W - I think we all get the point. Well, I certainly do. Perhaps we should just ban using a form of scoring, and instead ask people to review movies wall-of-text styleé. That way their post will be subjective, regardless of the movie. Plus, like, teh topic title says "in your own opinion" sooo...

yussir, it is over! CLOSED! Finito. etcetera. Kinda utterly failed to upload any of my own images, which I am fairly gutted about. Some last-minute entries from shorty and letty, perhaps planned on both parts. I will begin counting properly... er... proabbly monday :P Meet-up tomorrow then some drinkies with uni mates teh day after. Srry But well done everyone! The next BISH will hopefully be around xmas, but keep an eye out for a couple of smaller games to come in the future. SO yeah -- feel free to submit any more you have now -- but be aware that they will not be counted.

You mean you're getting on the train at 9:52 and will be in sheffield at 11:45? Ok, cool. I will be waiting by the fountain outside the front of the station with, I believe, Odwin! Hopefully Dan will be there early too

I'll be giving this a three-quarter-assed attempt! See how long I can last before i start tearing myself apart for writing so rubbish.

First thing's first: You should take the time to double-space your paragraphs :P Just an aesthetical thing, though. So what's he found that's fun and new to keep him going? Up to the point of meeting her, nothing? You obviously want to make the impression that this town, that his life is monotonous and unchanging. What would be interesting would be to relate to the audience some of the specific-to-his-life details that he finds dull that we might find curious or interesting, even if only in a voyeuristic way -- like the houses he walks past; perhaps comment on some detail on a certain house, or describe the other people he walks past or observes every morning (shop-owners, old people waiting for the bus that's always late, old man that always feeds the birds on the same bench, always looking glum, a fish pond that always seems to have a shoe floating in it, a plastic bag caught in a tree...) -- think about your own walk to school or whatever, and think about the recurring objects/events that you take for granted now. I remember my walk to school had certain characters that me and my friends expanded upon; we imagined their whole lives, gave them reasons for all of their actions, etc. No town is utterly void of history or status; all towns are proud of some giant rock, or bent church spire, or famous resident (living or deceased), or whatever - tourists find them quirky, odd, while the residents again just take it for granted. I have no idea what themes you are going to write about, or what's going on at all, but it does remind me of several anime-things; ichigo's "meh, women" approach, and FLCL's "everything is the same forever!," and of course, Haruhi Suzumiya's "quirky girl" essence I know nothing about the boy's character yet besides he isn't phased too much by odd instances (like finding a girl talking to herself) and is confident enough to say "c'mon, let's go" even though he doesn't know her. As always, I look forward to reading more

I think next year we should ban anyone who doesn't talk like a pirate on pirate day.

Blooo! ... mine's going to be mega-faded blue as I was too lazy to go get more dye today. Haha - you can juggle two in a three-ball rhythm, just hold on the third beat. Good for giving your arms some time to 'memorise' the movements needed. Keep it up! Every now and then you'll realise "woah -- I've actually IMPROVED!!" Homework is always a dread. I've learned that my first assignment is due in, what, nine weeks time? Already I'm groaning and moaning about it. Why aren't your parents letting you go? You're already at least 16, right?

Warandchaos: yeah sorry i've got a bunch of numbers from people. I'll add them in tonight and text you when I do Shiekah; awesome, thanks for telling us I'll be there from about 11:30 for probably an hour or so, depending on what times tell me to be there for. The weather looks like it won't be super-hot-sunny, but shouldn't be raining either. Don't just come in a t-shirt! We'll be sitting on grass. Feel free to bring a blanket if you want. I'll probably bring one or two just to be safe.

good stuff I believe shorty's "chinese dolls" required, what, 10 or so of them? I know that shorty, nami have more to upload tonight, and I'll whack on my incidental snap-ups. Wish I actually went bish hunting at some point, could've scored a crapload.

Five hours? I had that a few times, and I only lived 20 mins away. I'd read a book, sit around watching people walking past. Remember though; you're likely to have some coursemates who also have a mahoosive gap - so befriend them and find a pub :P Very true! There are always people looking for an extra room-mate thanks to someone dropping out or whatever. Seriously check it out! lol! Well I was mostly the same, except my mum had a friend of hers drive (the hundreds of miles!) to my halls about a week before I moved in, truck-loaded with boxes of books, dvds, kitchen equiptment, etc. On the day I just had a single suitcase, and me mam and I got the train up. It's weird during fresher's week. You walk around town and all you can see is a bunch of 20-ish year olds looking slightly sheepish as they are led around by their parent(s).

RE: Lighter Note; Yay! Juggling ftw. What do you mean 'better'? Like, you can juggle three instead of two, or you can keep three going for like a minute? *e-hug*

Cube lives in sheffield so really ought to, moogle sent me his phone number so i imagine him and strider are Probably Defo Defos.

Nobody's said when their train will arrive yet. We shouldn't want to be waiting indefinitely for arrivals, so it's likely that people may have to make their own ways to the park if they don't suggest just how long people should wait for them at the station.

Happy burth day Nintendohnut! ... Oh, and i suppose for chuck too... sorry we didn't make you a thread yesterday, Nintendohnut. I feel very guilty

ok guys! The dealine is tomorrow (today) at midnight, so get your entries in. I have to warn you that it'll take me a few days to add up all the points, but I guarentee the results will be in before the 2008 forum awards are!

From Creswell to Sheffield is about an hour and a half, with one change. Won't cost more than a tenner without a railcard! Remember there are people coming [ii]]by plane[/i] for the cost of about a hundred quid, and will only be staying for about four hours...

You got me! That's exactly why I've been suffering at the game. Reloading past checkpoints rather than starting again with less health/schtuff. I didn't think to question whether the enemies would have more health or not. I'll give it another go

Castle Crashers. I have an unhealthy desire to complete the game with all the characters, and level them up to the max. Rainbow Six Vegas 2. Shorty and I used to lose our sanity with realistic difficulty on the original. All new maps and a kinky exp system means I'm eager to play the game -- but it's been a while since I've had to play a game so strategically, and where death isn't a problem (braid, castle crashers multi, gears of war, etc..) so I'm geting peeved at my own inadequacy frequently. F.E.A.R. is promising so far. I like the story-driven element, but I don't think I can get into it enough. Same with Bioshock, which I've tried several times to get into, but my own crapness prevents me from enjoying it enough.

The Rock Society (if it still runs...) is usually a sound investment if you're unsure of what to join but want to try making new friends. I'd recommend going at least once, and that way everyone'll be new there so no cliques will have formed, and if you don't like it you can just never go again. You'll probably never see them again either.
-
Why do you need a lift to the station? Bard came to london for the weekend and never told his parents where he was or what he was doing :P You can leave a note then dissapear for a few hours maybe?

Trying to sort out some sort of schedule for uni; I think I have to read at least 3 novels and a shitload of poetry a week, as well as study some text books for critical theory and working on my creative writing portfolio. Problems I've encountered (considering I've only been awake 40 mins); - Two of my modules aren't on the blackboard site - Can't find out who my portfolio supervisor is because of the format they've saved the information as - why not just freakin' post it on the site? Or .doc? Bah. - ... ok, that's it. Two problems. But hey! That's plenty. Not sure who I'm supposed to email to sort it all out. Well that's my attempt at doing something productive today -- off to the computer games!

Enrolling for the lols. I remember going with shorty to enrol, getting to the front of the queue and realising I'd left the forms back at the halls! They were only enrolling 'til 4pm, and it was 3:10... so I ran home grabbed it, got back to the uni at like 3:40 and found that they had CLOSED the freakin' enrollment early. Motherbastards. So yeah, I just went to my coursedesk and told them, and they sorted it. Only they didn't sort it as they forgot to SIGN the form, and thus I didn't get my loan for about a month-or-so after all that. Sigh. ... But yeah enrolling is ridiculously easy. So's the first week of uni as they just tell you what they'll be doing the rest of the weeks. As for freshers? My first week I didn't do much of the BIG stuff - went to the union, went out with my hallmates... I'd say that many of the 'friends' you make in the first week won't last. I'm in a juggling society - we're supposed to be putting on a show during fresher's week, but we'll see :P Last year as far as I knew there was no chess society, so I might just have to try and start one up. Good luck everyone! It's been a hard two years for me so far for so many reasons, but ultimately they've provided much new experience and enjoyment. My only advice is don't spend too much money! It's all that I regret...
