Xpert 11 Season 15: On Your Talent Agent's Secret Service
jayseven replied to Haden's topic in General Chit Chat
Lol charlie :P Yeah lucked with that -- but you used bruise so it's fair! I think I've got a strong home advantage this season, so I'm confident I'll survive. Waiting on a couple of hopeful transfers, one 17 4 and the other 18 4, both forwards. Wanted a strong-skilled player to just slide into the side, but I didn't want to have an oldie, and the young strong ones seem to have a reputation of not being able to gel with my team. Just going to have to wait 5 seasons for my boys to mature! I'm expecting a win against fish next week, tbh. -
Putting words in my mouth!

Never said they were. What's with all the scripting going on here?
-
These days? Around 6-7pm with dinner then onwards. A beer or two with lunch (out) is fine. If I've had an epic night out and bought cans on the way home, I'd probably have half a can leftover that I'll have in the morning to curb the hangover. Special occasions, like hanging with old-skool mates and we only have THAT DAY... we'll drink from asap until ttyl.

I never said it was a one-off. Yes I know she likes to put fake penises down her trousers. Yes, uhhuh, yes. The majority of westerners understand that gay-bashing is trollish. DADT is considered old and archaic, even by people running teh armiez. She points this out. She wins at life! I've always hated rallies because it's one person shouting things at a bunch of people that they already agree with. I don't see this as an act of kindness. Or a good deed. Because I care so little about it. But just enough to make these posts! I prefer my activists less bothered about aesthetics and prefer those who want actual social reform. I don't care for the army.

Trying to send out PMs to people who haven't sent me a PM yet, but Internet. Is. Painfully. Slow. Patience, satanites! -
Jimbob; you look like the sort of person who has a very scary ANGRY face.
-
Happy birthday paj! It's not all over just yet. Don't forget, as easy as it is, just how little of life you've taken in. Don't stop pondering. P.S. Chair took 12 minutes to post this?! Disgraceful.

So the fact that she was dressing in mockery of the beurocratic route of argument is in favour of her seriousness? I thought she looked ridiculous, and she spent so long posing for pictures that it just reeked of stupidity. She's just hooked upon the right thing at the right time, because we all know how stupid the DADT 'rule' is. I just don't think her heart is in it at all. She lucked upon an easy target to increase her profile, tbh.

I am laid back, but I have a very short fuse for wattlers. Unfortunately the first few times I encounter such ramblers I just let it slide, so they think I'm their best friend... then I snap! And tell them how they are Doing It Wrong.

After what you've said; I'm surprised it's only 12! So I'm guessing the societies fair is in a couple of weeks? Dude, like, totally wait till that before you make up your mind. You're saying that, essentially, you have an interest in all of them, which suggests you have an ambition that you hope they can help you achieve. It's not 'til you ask their stall (usually committee members!) proper questions that you'll know whether they can deliver for you. But from the off, I'd say the 'japanese' society is not going to provide. When you go around the fair have certain questions in your mind; - How often do you meet? - What do you do? - Can I come along just to see what it's like? AND! - What did you do last year? Good societies will rave about certain occasions, disorganised ones may complain about the union not supporting them with what they wanted to do. Follow up with; - So can you do it this year? And if they say "hopefully" then AVOID. Because the 'problems' are internal to the society and not the union's fault. Anyway, you'll quickly evaluate which societies are more open to beginners (as you are) than others. They all claim to love them, but ultimately may not cater for them. Just be open about the fact that you want to develop your interests, and see how they sell it to you. And yeah - I don't think there's much point doing dance, rock climbing and gymnastics. The latter, especially, is probably for those who can rather than those who are interested. Besides, it's far too much to do all these at once. You will be physically drained from any one of them each week.

Break them down into categories. Which are you considering because you've always wanted to try; which ones reflect your current hobbies or interests that you actually feel competent at? I'd suggest going for the one that you feel most defines you, that you feel comfortable at doing. I went for juggling and those people ended up being my core social circle. I tried teh Rock Society and they just went to the glam/mullet-rock pubs and clubs and wore black and talked about obscure rubbish. Similarly, some of those will be more demanding than others, time-wise. At Hallam, there's Mario Kart society where people turn up and play mario kart for two hours (srsly), then there's a Drama society where they meet up twice a week to practice and rehearse actual plays that they will perform in front of actual people. Then there's Jugglesock. We just met up at pubs and parks and drank and threw things. For some banal reason I've actually been sitting here for like 10 mins trying to work out which of those societies would be best, but really I'd probably not join any of them. Most important is I have no idea what any of them involve (and I don't know you :P). Have you been to/will there be a Society's fair?

or Limpo-training, a course taken at circus university with Dr. House as the lecturer. ... Gizmo that's awsumz! Always wanted to do that. Have to admit that's the first trampolining video I've seen online that hasn't ended in some horrendous-looking FAIL.
-
A lot of societies do 'trial' runs, or, depending on the society, the choice to pay per session. If you get friendly enough with the people, or join a 'mailing list' (facebook page) then you can probably go to all the social occasions (pub, etc) without ever being a member :P But 12 is seriously too many, anyway.
-
Haha :P I watched all 5 seasons in, like, a couple of weeks or something stupid - but the last episode... I put off for ages. Couldn't bring myself to believe it was all over. SNIFFLE.

Yeah, it cut my arm up a bit. The dude with the fish also drew blood from the scaley fins!

Why are people withdrawing votes?

I'm not blaming you, just the misfortune I had. Cancer of the Internet. -
RE: OP (and none of this hilarious 'Q' stuff. I thought it was all about 'taking off the shackles of labels and, like, liberation, dude?'): You have nothing to lose. You can probably turn up before you're allowed to join and have a 'taster' session. Hallam's society probably disbanded because it wasn't a society with any proper funding/membership, just literally a bunch of people meeting up at the same time each week. The funding aspect is different uni-to-uni (and steph; doug's working at the union now so he's changing how it works - LGBT would get more support now), which therefore affects the actual role of the society. So yeah. FFS go along :P You'll meet people with something in common with you.

TBF in most old mafia games, the town mayor had a double-vote, too, so really we can't do much but just analyse rummy's voting pattern to see if we can conclude one way or the other. Shrug! I'm not really bothered one way or the other with this. I think not lynching and allowing another night to occur will give us proportionately more information than the lynch, because I think it's clear from teh write-up that there are two mafias.

still annoys me that this was locked 30 mins before I signed in for that day -- I knew the anagram one (3 pts!!1!) and the gamerscore. BUT! The effort you went through to do the quiz and mark 'em was no small feat. Was great fun -
Didn't know where else to put this. Two years ago a student-food website asked my juggling society to do a skit. what is the best food to juggle? They only just got round to uploading it. Not quite as embarassing as I remember it. (I'm the one on the left, looking hungover and shit)

I enjoyed being lucario, it really messed with the write-ups and gave me a feeling that I had an extra importance in the game - was great! ... Then I died. I came back as mafia but then the info of the night before became unusable -- diageo didn't really alter my last targets :P I did think that it was a bit iffy, though; I was under teh impression that anyone targetting my targets would end up targetting the other target (can never say taht well), but in the post that I was killed in, it appeared that my targets also carried out each other's targetting, too... BLEH TOO CONFUSING! I really think we had a good chance of framing eenuh :P But I didn't pursue it enough, really. Coming back as wario was a bit tricky as everyone knew I was evil, and internet connection woes made it tricky to discuss with my team enough... And yeah, we were a bit dicked by the day phase being re-opened.
