Yeah, that should be fine. So, 8pm, join to watch (and stream) Dean and Glen killing each other, then after we'll fight to the death, using turtles. ghosts, bombs, rocks... and whatever Shy Guys are. That sounds about right... Also, I'm here posting this now, meaning I've read all the posts, so I should be joining... on time, though I can be deliberately late if you like, for continuity. Cue Luigi's laugh... "Heh-heh-heh-heh-heh... heh-haha!" -

I have a Framemeister, and decent as it is... my advice would be to go for one of the other scalers, due to the price and ease of use. But I would definitely say that a scaler is a worthwhile investement for anyone wanting to play more than one retro console with older video connections on a newer TV.

If GAME are no longer accepting trade-ins of used games, this will likely mean that people will just trade their games into places like CEX or their local retro gaming shop, if they have one in their area, so the second-hand gaming market will still continue, it'll just be more "underground" in a sense... ***Pssssst! hey buddy, wanna buy some USED games?*** Definitely still keep trading your games in though if you do, show that there's still a demand for used games, which there definitely is. I've been buying a fair few used games over the past few months, mainly by offering a rate which is somewhere inbetween reasonable, and the general resale price so that a profit can still be made, while also making sure that I offer more than CEX... which isn't difficult in some cases when they only offer pennies for some titles, but for example, if a game will sell for around £5 then... I'll generally offer £2 if I'm confident that I can sell it again, maybe less on titles I'm unsure of, or shovelware, as they are more of a risk. I'll definitely be doing what I can to keep pre-owned games going at my local business, though I have bought quite a few in the past few weeks, so I may need to be a little bit more selective, but it's not often that I'll actually turn games down. If anyone is interested, I'll share more when the shop is looking a bit more organised, I;m just doing what I can every day at the moment.

People are still buying Switches though, even second-hand... generally people want them to be cheaper, but the cheapest they seem to go for with a dock is £150+ - £200 or so. If I was selling one, it'd be £225 + for sure though, depending on condition. Putting the price of the Switch down to £200 or less would prbably be a good move, though... Nintendo don't have to, the Switch is still selling well. As for the games, Mario Kart 8 DX, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Super Mario... anything, and Minecraft are the games which get asked for most.

Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack: N64 & SEGA Mega Drive (& GBA!!)
S.C.G replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Yep, and when I joined... the first thing I said was "Oh sweet, F-Zer...oh..." Just wait until next week, you'll be playing Goldeneye, with proximity mines, and I'll join just as one of you is passing by an area safely... then, screen red. "Da na na naaa newm!" "Oh sweet, Golden... I... didn't know that would happen..." -

Oh no, don't say that... I was going to pass it up, and maybe pick it up later, now I'm thinking of buying it 'just in case' to play at an 'unspecified date' between now and never. Edit - I ordered it... happy? Good!

All-new PlayStation Plus: Premium / Deluxe | Extra | Essential
S.C.G replied to Julius's topic in Other Consoles
Though I've recently bought a PS5, I'm glad that I won't be buying into the online memberships for it, or the Xbox consoles again any time soon. NSO is justified, as I genuinely play the console online every week, and I play some of the games which get added, but PS Plus? There's nothing for me... Even less with Xbox, as I don't want Games Pass, because I like physical games. (even if they are glorified unlock keys for the content at this point, you can still sell them... well, until their value quickly depreciates... partly due to Games Pass) -
I've currently got twenty (soon to be twenty-one) sealed games for the PS5, and the console out of the box but not connected, which has been that way for a few months now. For me, it's not the justifying of the console purchase, but finding the time to set it up properly to play it. Tekken 8 may finally be the game which will make me want to set it up. Oh... @Hero-of-Time I seem to remember you were asking which games I;d got for the system, though I likely didn't say at the time (busy) but here goes... Alex Kidd in Miracle World Devil May Cry 5 Special Edtion Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragon Hades Initial Drift: Twilight Rivals Edition NFS Unbound Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 R-Type Final 3 Evolved Raiden III x Mikado Maniax Raiden IV x Mikado remix Sonic Frontiers Sonic Origins Plus Sonic Superstars Soph Star (limited release) Stray Street Fighter 6 Tactics Ogre: Reborn Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredders Revenge Tekken 8 (soon...) The King of Fighters XV Vengeful Guardian:Moonrider So, just a few games really. I think that justifies the purchase of the console, once I legitimately start playing a game on it.

Thank you. I'm grateful for everyone's comments. Yes, it is a great shame, as Luke was an amazing guy, and he's certainly missed every day... I'm forever grateful to his daughter Becca for reopening Faceless Monkey, and to the rest of his family and friends for helping with the reopening, plus the continued running of the store. Becca kept the place going for over a year, all the while through what has been a challenging time... and even putting it into words doesn't do justice to the love that has gone into the place. It's a special shop for sure, where magic happens every day, and I'm grateful to be continuing with the legacy by now keeping the shop open, just as Luke and Becca did. I remember the place originally from when it was in another location, in another market located in Pool, as my brothers and I would have fond memories of going there to visit Luke and buy all kinds of games, comics, toys, Pokémon cards etc from him at the weekend. The whole story will likely require a feature in itself... one that I'm not even promising to write, but if and when I do, it will surely be substantial and could even run into a decicated local retro gaming shop article... we shall see, but for now I'm focusing on keeping the shop running every day. If anyone is interested, the shop is located in Truro within Cornwall at the Pannier Market and you can always check out the Faceless Monkey page on Facebook, as there's more I could say, but I've already said everything there, and you can keep up to date with what's going on, though... as with everything, on the site here, and on the shop page, it all takes time, so posts will be sporadic, but when there's something worth posting, and when I get the time, both here and Faceless Monkey page will be updated. Also, if anyone is ever in the area, and happens to be in Cornwall ever, for any reason, definitely visit the place and see for yourself, and mention N-Europe for a discount of course. Even if not, if you see anything posted on the page, and you'd seriously like to buy, then message the account on there, or message here and I can post items if required, there just isn't an online shop, and I want to keep it that way, as the physical shop is the main attraction. Anyway, time to get some sleep before getting back to the shop again in a few hours. (Opening hours - 11am 4pm on Monday - Saturday) Each new day is different, and I really love being there, but I've got to keep at it, as I'm working towards its continued success every single day.

eBay voucher code... JANJOY15 15% off, £15 minimum spend, max £75 discount per redemption, limited to three redemptions, ends on Jan 10th, at 11:59pm UK time, selected sellers only. Can be used on Switch games, and other platforms, including pre-orders. You could use it on the upcoming Tekken 8 as while the pre-order price is already cheaper than some places, with the code it's £50.11 exactly. The soon ro be released, Another Code: Recollection is available, making it £39.91 which seems to be a good price for the game. While I'm tempted by Another Code, I shouldn't really be buying any new games, and I've played the AC games before, so Tekken 8 it is... hoping that it'll be the game I set up my PS5 for.

I'll see about getting on earlier in time for the custom matches when I can, I do enjoy them, it just depends on how the day goes. It'd be good if I can get online from 7:30pm though, as then all the excellent custom stages would be part of the stream.

Yep, I can confirm this... I sold my copy of HeartGold almost a year ago for around £180, and even that had very slight wear and/or light creasing to the outer box, even though it was mostly just stored on a shelf, or as part of a display. A similar condition copy just sold for £220... it could well have been the same one. The value of such games will likely only ever go up, I just checked and one seller, is selling each individual part of the complete game sets for various prices, which probably adds up to even more than £200 + for a complete copy... they are selling just the outer boxes though in very good condition for £30... which seems like a very good deal, if that's all you needed to complete a copy of the game. It's all the other bits, the trays... inserts etc, that's what also seems to make up a lot of the value with collectors. They are very good remakes too from what I remember, Nintendo could do well if they were to re-release them in any form.

£70 - £85 is around the general price for a copy of Pokémon Heart Gold, in its plastic DS box, with manuals etc. With everything... including the foiled outer cardboard box, the Poké walker, and the belt clip, it can cost anywhere from £150 - £200 depending on condition. I'd say you got a good deal.

Site News: Happy New Year! - - - - - Yep, it's the time of year again... This years post is a little different, but it's a celebration of life, and a reminder to just enjoy the moment. And there's some game related stuff in there too, plus it explains a bit of what has been going on with the site. Anyway, all the best, here's to 2024 and living in the moment, whatever that means for you, be it playing games or just enjoying life. (and if you have any fond memories to share, about old games/stores, and/or involving family or people you know or knew... please do, if you like)

It's great to see a lot of posts in the Retro Discussion over the past few months or so, be it about game experiences, retro deals, the analogue pocket (which is fantastic btw... yes I did buy one second-hand online, yes it's see-through green, more on that later) or just some cool articles and retrospectives, which are few and far between these days. Anyway, see you on the next page.
