Nintendo Switch - Happy Switchmas Everyone!

I do feel there's been an upswing in trend in 'nobody asked for this' game from Nintendo though. They make equally baffling decisions on game series they do choose to release and support, as those they don't sometimes. But yeah hopefully. I very much hope this is the console it finally happens. Also though, just a few days ago Nintendo didn't rule out a handheld successor, and clarifying the Switch as very much a home console. As baffling as it seems giving the Switches potential and Nintendo's recent internal reshuffling - we may see them back developing across two consoles yet. -

And yet Nintendo put out games like Federation Force. Is that supposedly 'testing the water' for another Metroid?... Federation Force - didn't sell, bombed, and did significant damage to both the Metroid franchise and Nintendo's seal of quality. Mario Tennis Wii U - didn't sell, bombed and did damage to the brand. Animal Crossing: Board Game Bollocks - didn't sell, bombed and did damage to the brand. M&L: Paper Jam... yep. All these are example of doing exactly what you just stated they shouldn't do. You're telling me that amongst all this we couldn't get a 1080, WaveRace, Excitebike, Advance Wars, F-Zero too? -

That game was sent out to die I thought - It didn't have multiplayer... Sure you could race your friends ghosts, but they'd have had a sale from me if it had splitscreen/online. -

OMG I'd die. F-Zero-X is perfection for me. The tracks and music are the best in the series for me. -

They all sell over half a million copies. There are countless games still getting sequels that sell half a millions copies. An extra 500,000 consoles sold is a significant % for the Wii U. -

Is it? Arguably it costs you your user base in the long run. -

It's 100% not my choice as it happens. If it was they'd have happened by now. Nintendo has enough money to fall back on. They make a profit off everything they manufacture. There was no eShop title to test the water for Splatoon... a completely unproven concept. Not taking risks is cowardice. For every Uncharted 4 there should be a Tearaway. For Every 30 million unit selling Mario Kart there should be a WaveRace. Throw your loyal consumer base a bone. -

Sounds lame. -
Yeh as a conceptual video it did ok - but then one shot of a swipe on the screen, or switching from playing a game to watching a movie/listening to music, would have been so simple to include.
-
Specs are fine, system specs change between reveal and launch... But showing the screen and not confirming if it's a touch screen... not confirming any other Media playback outside of cartridges... does it have Gyro sensors? It's strange there's no forward facing camera on the thing in this day and age... Or will there be come launch? Clarify the things you're showing, or don't show it at all. Why a half reveal?

I think you can get away with Mii moving forward as just being a spin on Me. Amiibo are every bit a part of the Wii/Mii brand, and they're moving forward with those. -
As long as Will Smith is DLC with a track based in and around the Bel-Air mansion, I'm in.
-
I just think the fact we don't know what features the console has is crazy/annoying. 'Here are some of the Switches basic features...' 'What?... you want to know it's other basic features?... Uhh, uhh, uhhhhh... don't be greedy, you wait for those'. F you.

I've been thinking about the Vita. The Switch handheld look very much like one; not quite as elegant IMO. Sony could add a bigger cartridge slot to a new model of Vita, which would come with a docking station... What else does it need to do?... Yes the controllers can't come off the end of the Vita, but then that's probably the least appealing aspect of the Switch anyway. -

It's very strange that Ubisoft of all companies would be taking a risk on a new Snowboarding/Sports game with Steep. Far bigger risk than a new 1080 would be... but the difference is, Ubisoft may well put a great/cool media campaign behind it. Nintendo never advertises outside of it's core games. EDIT: Beaten to it :p -

Everytime these games get mentioned I just think of how great the Gamecube's line up was, and that I should just buy some back. Blue Storm Avalanche Burnout 2 Battalion Wars GX I'd love a Pilotwings Resort sequel on Switch. And yeah Excitebike > Truck. Urgh, it's so frustrating thinking of games we'd like to see on Nintendo's console all the time, and them never coming to fruition. -
Could just be Switch Pokémon Go. Or a remake of two games that haven't been updated yet. Or a Switch version of Sun & Moon. Maybe Pokémon Snap 2 on the Sun & Moon islands.

Whilst Mii was born out of Wii, I don't think they're considered synonymous with one another. Mii's can continue without anyone associating Switch-Nintendo with the Nintendo of the last two consoles. I like Mii's. Tbh Miiverse could replace Animal Crossing in terms of what it could become, but I think fans like the Animal Crossing world too much for that to happen. But an expanded Mii verse Nintendo Land could be nice. Again, doubt it will happen. -

I don't know for sure, but with the PlayStation D-Pad you can at least roll around it with your thumb and the buttons lean into one another. This is just 4 solid buttons like ABXY right? -

No no no... I'd buy that in a heartbeat. Yeah the lack of a D-pad is concerning. We've had D-Pads since the NES. You shouldn't have to buy a Pro Controller. -

Let's face it, the Switch controller alone is quite an ugly controller. None of those concepts look particularly appealing. -
I don't believe people know if they'll buy it or not yet... I don't. It's a nice product, but I'm worried what Mario will turn out to be, Zelda is no longer the system seller it once was for me, and we've seen nothing else. I need to see games for the thing. A sizzle reel/vision of intent for the Switch was much needed IMO. Too may people have been burned and need reassuring. Also... those controllers be crazy tiny, and I'm not sure how well that button 'D-Pad' functions. We've had D-Pads on controllers since the NES. The Pro Controller is an additional expense. Touch controls should have been confirmed by now or not. The Vita has back and front touch controls. Does this have any? I'd like to know the possibilities. Can you watch movies on the thing?

... Nintendo move away from that. Unwanted peripherals is where Nintendo make their money :p
