  1. I'm sorry to hear that Hannah. :(

Is there at least a chance that your mum might not develop the disease?

Either way, my best wishes to the both of you and the rest of your family.

There are 3 genetic mutations which can cause this condition, and apparently only having one means you're probably just a carrier. Having 2 means either/or (ie you have faulty genes, might not have it now but go to develop it in later years), and 3 is nearly a definite. So there's more chance than not that she will, especially in females hitting their menopause as they don't bleed the excess iron out through normal female means lol

Thanks, gurl. I'm sorry to hear that about your mom. I hope you're both okay and I wish you all the best for the results.

Thank you sweetness. Always thinking about others even through your suffering. Love you mate xo

    Birmingham City

My mum would bloody love you, shes a big City fan lol  (probably the only one in ballymena lol)

I'm ringing tomorrow to find out my iron results, then another week for the dna results (ohh its like jeremy kyle). Part of me is thinking it being positive would make sense out of a lot of things happening in my life, and the other part doesn't want to have this condition.

I'm just scattered all over the bloody place at the moment, my heads up my arse.... drugs are spacing me out completely and i'm really feeling quite ill and sore at the moment :-( I've no formal diagnosis apart from having a lot of immune system involvement... just very frustrating when you're 29, supposedly at the prime of your life and you struggle to do anything. ::shrug:

  2. my mum has 2 out of 3 DNA deformities which causes hemachromatosis (not developed the disease yet) and it runs in families.

I was tested today.. 2 weeks wait for the results......... :shakehead

@Animal - love and hugs to you, can't imagine what you're going through :-(

  3. I'm a bit off the rails again. This time of the year fucks me up. My raynauds is on a rampage more than it ever was and my hands and feet are numb most of the time. The fact I can even type this is just evidence of my skills as a typist rather than physical ability. Unhappy Hannah gets herself into a spiral and can't get out of it :-(

  4. Tax is wick and the average person on the street is expected to know so much. You trust your employers HR / finance dept will sort these things out... ! Annnnd thats why im staying in my job forever and ever. No change no complications =P

Found out some bad n00s on the family front. My uncle has hemachromatosis (excess iron in the blood, can't process, ends up destroying most of your organs before its diagnosed) and apparently its strongly genetic. My mum got tested today. boos.

  5. That other girl sounded like a twat not worthy of your time :/ "more convenient for me" my hole. She just seriously inconvenienced you... If I was in that position and had forgotten (though, not likely) I would be utterly horrified and i'd drop the double booking just to honour that date.

With regards girl w/ boyfriend, yeaaa that's only gonna end up causing someone (if not everyone involved) pain.

And the profiles where they pull the same duckface pose close-up with different hair that is trying to avoid the topic of "this is my body" but ends up leaving me think "she's probably really fat" -- and normally I wouldn't judge a person that way, fact is I don't want a girlfriend that I'm not attracted to. Sorry world. But I'm sure plenty of left-swipers saw me and judged me, so it's all good.

You're allowed to like what you like. As a larger lady myself I certainly would rather be with someone who DID fancy me rather than someone who didn't, "settling" rather than being single. I don't like small skinny men and wouldn't ever consider dating one. If someone takes offense to not being attractive to someone its their problem.... build a bridgee~

  6. Got a compliment at the gym last week on my squat depth. Very pleased with that as so many people I see barely even bend their knees when squatting. I'm trying yet again to get properly back into the weights. Made it twice last week and once so far this week. I'll be able to get in hopefully 2 more this week. Struggling to find time as I'm training for a marathon in May too.

a LOT of people are extremely sloppy in terms of squat depth in my gym too.

i'm more dominant in my hams/glutes which might explain me coping better with olympic depth rather than just hitting parallel.

As an update, just weighed myself at the gym and I'm now 86.5kg (190.69lbs/13.62st). I don't know if I'm doing a slow cut or slow bulk or a recomposition because in the past six months my lifts have slowly gone up and my weight has dropped 1.5kg. Is that even a lot of weight to lose?

I would call it a recomp, 1.5kg isnt a significant weight to lose or gain /6months. But whatever the hell you're doing, dammit man, you're doing it right!

  7. Ikea's sammich bags are awesome and RIDICULOUSLY cheap. Last time I went to ikea I had intentions of spending £40 on a coupld of pieces of furniture... ended up spending over 100!

Not really a spendage as such but I put a bid of £61k on a house last night :yay:

Yesterday morning, I bidded 60 against their 59, then they came back with 60.5. Half increments means one thing only.... they're running out of money....yesss.

  8. I found the same thing on this page. If they have a mobility clause then she will have to move unless it is unreasonable. What is deemed reasonable can is up for debate and can be settled in a tribunal if it comes to that.

One extra point to note is:

"Employers don’t have to offer employees any compensation for relocating, unless it’s specified in their contract."

Pretty much this, and I'm nearly sure they won't consider 30 miles unreasonable.

Its happening a lot over here in the NHS as everything is being centralised. My ex got redeployed as his job was 40/50 miles difference, but that was only because they had a job for him closer than that distance. I don't know if you'd have that option in private sector.

My boss got redeployed, 40 miles ish, and he got protected travel for 3 years. But that's not compulsory for employers to do. Its all about whats in your contract & what your union can get for you (if they're in one)

  9. I decided to start doing Overhead Press with the barbell. Settled on 5x5 to start with (StrongLifts never led me astray when I'm starting something). What does everyone else OHP? I'm not really sure what a good benchmark is in terms of weight.

I ended up doing 5x5 at 50kg. Really focused on form, starting with my arms fully extended, down and up; one rep. I think I could have done a little more but didn't want to get ahead of myself.

I know a friend of mine at the gym can do that with 60kg for sets of 5, but hes one of the very dedicated spends his life at the gym types. I on the other hand would do well to do 5x5 with 40 lol

  10. I think with underuse vs overuse of muscles / flexibility vs strength there is ALWAYS going to be a fine balancing act and only when you really know your body its weaknesses and strengths will you be able to keep that steady.

That's why I love olympic lifting, its a perfect balance of usable real life strength, coordination and flexibility.

Yoga's great by the way, but its harder than you could ever imagine lol
