  1. No one cares about rugby league. Union is far better and more popular. Sevens is (funnily enough) played with teams of seven. 14 minute matches, 7 minutes each half. Same basic rules as rugby. For obvious reasons, the pace is a lot faster. Players need to be hugely fit, and whilst rugby union is a game for all shapes and sizes, Sevens you have to be more of an all round athlete, big, strong and QUICK. The playing field tends to be a lot more level, that's why you get 'smaller' rugby nations like Kenya, Ivory Coast, Russia, Portugal etc doing well and standing toe to toe with the big boys (not always, but often). Personally, I'm not a big fan of Sevens, but I can appreciate how popular it is, and how it's a far better fit for the Olympics than Union.
  2. Sevens is pretty much its own sport these days, the skills required are totally different. I'd love to see crowds like these at 5 a side football or ping pong matches: Hong Kong Sevens: Dubai Sevens: Let alone in rugby hotbeds like the UK, Australia, NZ, SA etc. The full version of rugby could never be an Olympic sport anyway, not with the recovery times needed between matches. You'd never fit in enough games sadly.
  3. Are all Animal Crossing games like the one shown yesterday? If so I have to say I'm amazed they're so popular, especially with blokes, and anyone over the age of 8. What's the fascination?
  4. "The Year of Luigi" so basically, no 3D Mario game this year?
  5. Must be great being able to print money with hardly any effort, or in Nintendo's case, making more NSMB levels
  6. I thought we were going to get a new Zelda game when he mentioned Link. But no, a Zelda Miiverse channel.
  7. I'm amazed that Animal Crossing games are popular to anyone but 8 year old girls
  8. Jesus how many role playing games are Nintendo going to release zzzzzzzzz
  9. Does seem to be quite short sadly, with one play through at least. Reminds me a little of Abe's Odyssey on the Playstation.
  10. Surprised there hasn't been more chat about this. Downloaded it yesterday and absolutely LOVE it so far. Lovely graphics, great dark humour, decent puzzles and the narration is simply brilliant. Sadly feel like I'm getting close to the end having arrived at the third character's segment now. According to reviews the ending is a bit anticlimactic, which seems a big shame. I started off with the Adventurer, Knight and Time Traveller. Bit disappointed to go from the Adventurer's segment to the Time Traveller's one straight away, I'd have thought there'd be a decent 30-60 minutes of regular puzzling in between. Anyone else playing this? Thoughts?
  11. Sevens is hugely popular around the world, nations from all over the world compete. For instance, Kenya nearly beat England in the final of the Dubai Sevens recently. The embarrassment is synchronised swimming, beach volleyball or table tennis being part of the Olympics.
  12. Hope we hear Zelda news but not holding my breath.
  13. They're fantastic! I haven't touched a demo since the PS1 days, back then playing a demo of my most anticipated game ever Wipeout 2097 was like Christmas had come early. Plus Tekken 2 etc... Good times. Such a pleasure being able to download demos and try games out again. Loving the eShop, and well the whole Wii U OS really, so well implemented (apart from loading times). Just wish the eShop would discount games to fit in with retail copies.
  14. I was actually referring to this popular larf
  15. I hope they do homage to Sega Rally's "GAME OVER YEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHHH!"
  16. As someone who once had a Playstation 1 and loved the demo disks that came with the official magazine, I'm a bit in love with being able to download demos from the eshop It's what's made me want to purchase the Cave, (which I've just done) and Rayman Legends (thankfully after I heard about the delay)
  17. The demo I thought was alright, but nothing particularly amazing. Is it really worth picking up? Especially since I know NONE of the characters except Sonic and Tails.
  18. It was all a bit generic and lame IMO
  19. The foot being over the line is fine, it has to be touching the ground to be in touch. The television match official clearly made the right decision, if he hadn't there would have been huge controversy. A ref would never give a huge decision like that because 'the game was crap' and nothing was happening anyway.
  20. Outstanding win for England, just as significant as the one against the All Blacks. For such a young and inexperienced team, Lancaster is getting them to play like 100 cap pros. Compelling game, even if not the most attractive. Healy will rightly be banned for a couple of months, dirty bastard. Regarding Wales, North's foot certainly wasn't in touch when he scored vs France, correct decision and great play from him. (although I'm not a fan of the man)
  21. Subtle background colours to distinguish different consoles/handhelds topics would be great. The current 3DS logo is barely noticeable as such, the red handheld icon in Redshell's post would be much better IMO.
  22. So you save 50 quid and finally end up playing it two years later. How tight can you be? If you're going to buy a console eventually, why not just buy it at launch. Makes no difference except for the slight saving on your wallet, and you get to enjoy it from day 1.
