  1. "Negatives: the world map wasn't a hub world." How about the actual gameplay? Platforming perfection, like only Nintendo can pull off. So much variety in each and every level. Not that it really matters anymore, as it is one person's opinion, but Ashley reviewed 3D World based on what it wasn't, not what it was, and IMO that's not the way to go about reviewing games. Basically "it's halfway between 2D and 3D" and "It's not Galaxy 3, so if you're fine with that, cool". 8/10. Games should be judged on their own merits.
  2. For an 8/10 game it sure is amazing. So much fun, the perfect platforming experience IMO, more so than even Galaxy.
  3. Fair enough though I never understand why some people sell their consoles when more often than not they just buy it again down the line. Just keep it !
  4. I never said it looked good, I said I was looking forward to it.
  5. I assume it means GAME just haven't updated their price yet. Why would other online retailers lower their price to £25 just for the hell of it.
  6. Correction, nothing that you find interesting. Personally I'm looking forward to Starfox, Yoshi, Kirby, Mario Maker, Splatoon, Project Giant Robot, Xenoblade, MK DLC AAAAND Zelda + whatever else Nintendo announce for 2015.
  7. Why not buy a Wii U now and spend the next six months playing some of its great games? Expect Zelda in November/December though.
  8. Budget price = smaller game. I was hoping this would be a full priced release filled with content and a long meaty single player. Obviously that doesn't mean a budget release can't be amazing (see Captain Toad), but it tempers my expectations in terms of content a little bit.
  9. Gutted really, I was hoping this would be a full priced release.
  10. Wish they'd just give us a sequel to Steamworld Dig
  11. That Yoshi amiibo looks enormous in the above youtube screen cap!
  12. Frankly, a tenner for an awesome little Toad figurine is more than enough for me. This is just bonus content.
  13. Does the Hot Blaster come with voice chat? If it doesn't I'm not buying this game
  14. A vitally important statement to make for the seventh time, just in case H-o-T needed to know that. I know youre the most insular poster on here (look it up) but links to Irish retailers and prices in Euros don't help 95% of people on this site.
  15. Bad example, Minecraft is one game. No need to read so much into it. I obviously didn't mean every single successful franchise is cookie cut.
  16. All successful games do, look at COD and Assassin's Creed, the same game released every year. Nintendo at least try and mix up the formula every so often.
  17. Critically acclaimed games, trying to innovate with each generation, watertight polish and bug-free titles and a diverse line up of genres. That's to be applauded. Huge iterative AAA games with budgets in the hundreds of millions that all offer similar (and buggy) experiences, whilst barely making a profit, if at all, on the other hand....
  18. Apologies for derailing this wonderful thread and the usual moaning about everything Nintendo do. Let's get back to the hate. I can't believe you think gaf is as negative as this place, they LOVE Nintendo over there.
  19. What are you talking about? I never suggested their games are as big as the AAAs. That was my point. WTF ? Modern gaming = the gaming industry as it currently stands. I did, I listed a number of genres the Wii U caters to. And I mean actual variety, not the difference between action shooter, action RPG shooter, first person co-op shooter and cinematic third person shooter with quicktime events.
  20. Apologies, I forgot Destiny, another shooter. And Infamous, another 3rd person action game. And Rainbow Six and Overwatch on the way. You can accuse the Wii U of a lot of things, but a lack of diversity isn't one of them.
  21. This conversation is all that is wrong with the PS4... shooters, 3rd person action games and more shooters! Oh and every game releasing broken or buggy.
  22. I handpicked the biggest AAA games on PS4, without even mentioning yet more shooters like COD, Killzone, Battlefield and Far Cry and then handpicked the biggest games on Wii U.
  23. You carry on scraping the bottom of that barrel for differentiations. Now do the same for NintendoLand, Donkey Kong, Pikmin, Wonderful 101, Wind Waker, 3D World, Bayonetta, Mario Kart, Hyrule Warriors, Captain Toad, Smash Bros. With X, Mario Maker and Starfox on the way. THAT is variety. So not quite... Funny how the Wii U had 4 GOTY contenders last year. What a shit system.
  24. Needs more of this diverse range of genres and styles...
