  1. First party Nintendo games are some of the best looking in the industry so I'm not sure what your point is. 3D World, MK8, Wind Waker HD, Pikmin 3, Captain Toad, Yoshi's Woolly World. None of these visuals are dated, most are timeless and beautiful. This, on the other hand...
  2. Yeah I didn't understand that suggestion either. Makes no sense. Galaxy didn't rely on nostalgia. Nor Sunshine. Odyssey certainly doesn't seem to. You could argue 3D World does a bit with the flagpole but regardless, the difference is the gameplay is top notch in all of those. Yooka-Laylee seems to rely on it exclusively. Dated visuals, dated gameplay, dated puzzles but it's getting hype because it feels like a beloved game from twenty years ago.
  3. Looks like we're not alone, the casino gameplay video is getting slaughtered on gaf.
  4. I completely agree with you. I've never seen the appeal throughout development and it's the reason why I'll probably ask for a refund. The collect-a-thon gameplay just seems so dated and I think basing your entire game on nostalgia and out of date mechanics is a bad move. 3D Mario this is not.
  5. This is a really great 4-5 minute discussion on IGN's NVC about Nintendo's short reveal to release timeframe for the Switch. They make a lot of great points about how it was a really clever strategy and how hardware doesn't need nine months to sell itself. The exception being Nintendo's continued silence about the online/Virtual console details. Jump to 47:42: I think this is the way to go for future consoles. Having to wait 9 months to a year between reveal > release for the Switch would have been such a buzzkill. Hell I can barely wait 25 days for it.
  6. FIFA on Switch will be FIFA 18, possible September launch
  7. Since always. ¥2,000-¥3,000 is £14-£21 at current exchanges rates = £1.16 - £1.75 a month. Please don't put words in my mouth and twist what I said to suit. As for high prices, the general reaction to Kimishima's comment about their online price seems very positive.
  8. Basically this, must have the patience of a saint having to work with (for) Japan.
  9. Reggie also suggested as much a few weeks ago
  10. Yeah I'll give it a miss and just wait another couple of weeks
  11. I think you're overthinking things. It's a brief little indicator of search engine interest compared to their last console, that's all. Yes there's margin for error, but in general interest in Switch is many times more than interest in Wii U at the time.
  12. It was never meant to be 100% accurate, watertight and infallible, just to give a general indicator. But ok...
  13. They're in a precarious position at the moment, and need to get back to healthy finances. It makes no difference how much profit they were making thirty years ago.
  14. You realise Nintendo made a huge loss last year right? At least in Q1 and Q2. The console gaming industry really isn't as lucrative as you think.
  15. No, it's a dying thing if companies don't make money.
  16. And you get to play an additional 60/120 games NES (and or) SNES games
  17. Yeah, hopefully there are a ton of mini games to at least provide some variety and replay value, 50+ would be good, but if it's a £40 game, 100 would be more appropriate.

  19. I had no idea PS4 didn't have external HDD support until now! I guess they wanted people who wanted more to upgrade to the 1TB model.
  20. I think it's going to help pay for their online, which is a huge expenditure as Sony, Microsoft and now Nintendo have realised. how does a rental have no value at all? You think you should be able to rent films and games for free?
  21. You said charging for online is nothing but a money making scheme. As for the games we get being rentals, sure, but are you suggesting there's no value in that either?
  22. So you're saying it costs Nintendo nothing to run an online infrastructure? Doesn't cost them anything, and they just make 100% profit on all this £1-2 a month gamers will be giving them? (and that's not even getting into the whole, we get free games in return, argument)
