Tough one, they could do the same as last year and have a big blow-out at E3, then release 9 months later, or just have another teaser trailer and then a deeper dive at their September and Jan/Feb Directs maybe. I think we'll see something though, unless they have something else lined up for Q4 they want to focus people's attention on...
-
They're making a sequel to one of the most beloved games of all time, let them take all the time they need! So yeah, fair enough, I think a lot of people predicted a delay to early 2023. Nice to get a few seconds of new footage! That's a step up from the usual twitter delay graphics. Interesting how he talks about the scope of the game increasing, which is a bit of a relief given it'll be 6 years since the original!

It's tying the retro stuff to the most expensive tier that annoys me. Over the course of the PS5 life that's 5, 6 hundred quid, and you don't even get to own them. Weird way to announce it overall, just some wordy blog-post short on details that matter like the library itself. Meh.
-
I wasn't expecting much and it still under-delivered. 100 quid a year for retro gaming? Yeah no thanks.

Good news! https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2022-03-28-kirby-and-the-forgotten-land-is-the-biggest-kirby-launch-in-uk-history-uk-boxed-charts

Thanks for this! I guess I always got the impression that Banjo Kazooie was basically "Nostalgia, The Game" and figured you just had to play it back in the day to fully appreciate it nowadays, in a modern context. But I'll give it a go, it's right there in my library anyway. The camera being a step down from Mario 64 doesn't fill me with confidence though haha.
-
That's just cutting to a different tune though, I'm talking about the same music seamlessly shifting instrumentation as you walk into different areas. I'll get hate for this and I should try it before judging but I get the impression those games haven't aged well.
-
Oh fair enough, I've not played it
-
Dear lord the Parade level theme tune is catchy. And I'll never get tired of the instrumentation changing between worlds but the same basic song staying the same. I think New Super Mario Bros started it, but I could be wrong. Or maybe Skyward Sword walking around the Skyloft bazaar?
-
Tbf, it's one of like 5 games that instantly take me back to my childhood so it's not all bad.
-
What. Have you done.

I've had the guitar riff from Treasure Road stuck in my head all day. Great.

This game's brilliant. Entering every stage reminds me of that magic feeling of stepping into a new one in Mario 3D World, maybe not quite to the same extent but close enough. Waddle Dee Town is a fun idea too

PS+ has been godawful for a few years now, so anything would be an improvement on the status quo... right?
-
GOTY. I'm only half joking...
-
I love the reason for it being set in a post-apocalyptic world. Coming up with the gameplay first and then fitting a story around it

Excellent!

Thanks so much, bombard away haha, I'll be in this thread posting pics constantly don't worry I was in two minds whether to go at all to be honest. Their 4-day livestream in 2019 was excellent so I was tempted to just enjoy it from the comfort of home, but in the end after the couple of years we've had, I thought why not. Flying (Han) solo to Celebration but I've a mate in LA for the rest of it. You'll have a great time watching the show though if it's up to the same standard as three years ago. No the schedule isn't out yet. It was only published a few weeks before the 2019 one so still a ways to go I think. I'm keeping my expectations in check tbh, I don't think this one will have quite the line-up as the previous one (Ep IX, Mando, Galaxy's Edge, Jedi Fallen Order etc) but hopefully it'll be decent. It's hard to predict what sort of panels there'll be. Lucasfilm Games and Andor panels seem like safe bets but beyond that I'm not sure. Feels like the films are a ways out, although they might announce one? Rumours of one being made in secret for release next year. Maybe general Disney+ and/or Animation panels? I think it's the anniversary of Ep II, so they'll prob do one on that too. Looking forward to finally seeing something from Andor. I'm also hoping for some behind the scenes type panels like Doug Chiang's brilliant one from 2019. A Rebels reunion would obv be the dream, but I guess it's more likely they'll have a Bad Batch one and show us the first episode of S2, if it's not out by then that is. Star Wars Explained and Force Center Podcast are saying they'll do some sort of meet and greet, which'll be fun. Huge fan of their wor, it's the only SW content i watch/listen to online tbh. Passionate but very level-headed, a rare mix with online fandom! I'm not too fussed about autographs or selfies, but I think Greg Grunberg is going to be there so I'll get my Snap Wexley bobblehead signed by him. Big fan. Likewise if Steve Blum is there I'll have to buy a Zeb action figure and get him to sign that. No real plans to buy any specific merch, I'll just see what's there. I'm going to book into the Droid builder (hmm, a BB or R5 model...) + lightsaber maker (green blade for sure) event things at Galaxy's Edge. Very pricey but silly to go all the way there and not do at least one of those. Hoping to ride Rise of the Resistance, it's apparently excellent, just need to be quick to get a virtual queue spot when they come online. As for LA in general, I'm not too sure what the plan is there, there'll be a day and a half of looking around so I'll do some research on stuff to do.

EDGE Magazine gave this an 8 Rest of the reviews should be out tomorrow.

The console design is the tackiest thing I've seen in a while, must have taken them about three minutes to put together. The furry controllers though... I quite like them as a novelty thing obviously
-
Well, I guess I'm heading to Star Wars Celebration! 10ish hour flight to LA, a couple of days to look around, four days at Celebration, and then a couple at Galaxy's Edge. Should be a decent experience! ...I hope

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga (5th April 2022)
Ronnie replied to Julius's topic in Other Consoles
Looks like the previews are very positive. The game definitely seems massively ambitious, with all the unlockable skills for the various classes and that galaxy map full of explorable planets. Tough decision for you to make @Julius, personally my dilemma is I can't decide which trilogy to start with -
Just platinum'd this. Really enjoyed the storyline, far more than the first game. Visuals were stunning. Companions were great, good idea to give them loyalty type missions (without the actual loyalty part). I thought the openworld was as samey as most other Sony/Ubisoft games, was hoping for something a bit more RDR2/BOTW/Elden Ring but seems not. Really enjoyed the cauldrons and tallnecks though, I like how each one feels pretty unique. Climbing I thought was terrible. There was no gameplay to most of it really, just hold up, so it was pretty tedious and boring. Overall though had a great time, mostly because of the storyline, visuals and cauldrons.
-
Fair enough, and you're right when I played the new tracks the visuals didn't really bother me. It was just then going back to the previous DLC tracks, which look stunning, makes me kind of wish for the same sort of polish. But different strokes etc At least the music is up to the same quality like you say!

No one has suggested they were in any way confused with my stance. People disagreed with it, or offered alternative viewpoints, sure, hence the very purpose of a discussion board, but no one was in any way confused. The only confusion in this thread arose from you putting words in my mouth and condescendingly telling me to "behave" for things I didn't say. 'JK Rowling has nothing to do with the Harry Potter franchise' is something that you said, not me.
