having Resident Evil, Street Fighter and Monster Hunter as Nintendo exclusives would shift consoles although maybe not enough to claw back $500 million
-
But they both also seen a huge downturn in numbers now that the core fans have purchased one, exactly the same as Wii U did. But you can discount hardware sales anyway. I bet EA don't need to sell a huge number of of FIFA to make it profitable, especially if they just update FIFA 13, I would imagine we are talking tens of thousands rather than hundreds of thousands. There are circa 6 million Wii U's sitting in living rooms, if MK8 can shift over 1 millions units in a weekend then there is clearly a big game buying market just sitting there waiting to be tapped into.

blue shells are rare online, in fact most of the powerful items are. But you can put your mortgage on the fact that if you've won the first 3 races in a GP then last lap of the last GP is hammer time. I get hit with lightning bolts frequently online, but can count on 1 had the times I've had one. The item boxes just seem to be loaded mostly with mushrooms and coins.

blaming hardware sales just doesn't work with the EA argument. 1: PS4 and XB1 are at similar sales levels and yet EA have built a new game engine for these. 2: It's not that difficult or costly to convert to Wii U from either last gen or this gen. 3: They could just use the FIFA 13 engine and release a leagacy edition. 4: FIFA sells, so they are turning down revenue. There is more to it without a doubt. It may be that FIFA 13 sold badly on Wii U (does anybody know numbers) but if they release a version every other year i refuse to believe this would not be a money maker for EA.

I could almost live with that if it was not the cartoon version that Wii gets. Who is going to buy and play Wii Fifa 15 on Wii U, just upate the team rosters on 13

i joined your group last night only for a disconnect in the lobby I do share Kav & Zechs frustrations to a point, but the fact the same players invariably win most of the races means that skill does ultimately prevail. I have got item raped on many a race and never recovered but I have also seen this happen to the best guys in the league and they get back in front, so when push comes to shove they are obviously just better racers. The only thing that baffles me is just how they are so fast? The tracks are pretty wide and you can seem to race a perfect lap without overtaking anybody, but the top guys can seem to overtake numerous people in the space of half a lap. So I just assume these guys know how to set up a kart better or there is some extra mechanic in play other than power sliding that I'm just completely unaware of. I think once the league gets put into rank order then most of these frustrations will cease to exist because players of a similar skill won't have the ability to open up a big lead like the top guns.

I can't believe nintendo even allow it. Surely they should be saying to EA put games on wii u or fuck off completely
-
What! no more H-O-T online? How do you unlock those 3 items?
-
FIFA 13 was a launch game. Lacked ultimate team but did have some unique if somewhat pointless gamepad functionality and off screen play.
-
1: Does this mean it will be the cartoony version? 2: Does this this mean it won't have online? 3: I can't believe EA would lose money on porting this to Wii U, surely FIFA sells? 4: EA, for once just relase a full version of FIFA with ultimate team at the same time as the other consoles and you might just suprise yourselves and have a big selling Wii U game on your hands. It's a World Cup years for christs sake, everybody will be even more football mad for the next month.

Wii Sports was the most important game last gen for shifting so many Wii consoles, Wii Sports Club retail release is right around the corner, with online and "hd" graphics and Nintendo don't even mention it at the biggest gaming event of the year. They even made a joke about the drought?!
-
so far i have found it all a bit tedious for Wii U. a few games on show but sadly they were pretty much all either a 2d cutesy platformer or a slash/shoot em up. Only really splatoon did anything new different. I already have loads of Wii U games so just give me FIFA and Tiger and I'll be a happy bunny.
-
Don't get me wrong, I understand 3rd parties not making certain games for Wii U as they more than likely won't shift enough units to make it viable, but if the game has already been made and is just sitting there, that's just dead money, so stick on the eshop and try to recoup some dosh. Also, the EA thing, surely as Wii U did not get FIFA 14 and with Mario Kart 8 and Smash shifting consoles again, FIFA 15 would be a cash cow for EA? How many copies would FIFA 15 need to sell on Wii U to make it profitable?
-
it's not their job, but they are basically saying we are waiting for Nintendo to release really good games that will sell consoles and we'll piggyback onto those sales. I'm saying make a game that will sell consoles by itself, not some half arsed party game cash in. But I'm also saying if Mario Kart can sell over 1 million copies in a weekend then the amount of consoles is not an issue. A great game will sell, so if Ubisoft really thought they had a great Wii U game they would release it. The Wii U is crying out for games so and good game would shift units and even if they don't want to incur production costs of discs, boxes etc (understandable) the just put it on the eshop.
-
reagarding ubisoft, if this secret game was any good then release it and help sell consoles. we are waiting for smash to sell more wii u's, that's kind of defeatist, plus how many consoles is enough, i'm sure they would be happy with mk8 numbers, so userbase is a bit misleading, plus they are fully supporting ps4 and xb1 which right now are at similar numbers.

Play Nintendo - Announcing Nintendo @ E3 2014
Clownferret replied to Serebii's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Have not watched any footage but from what I've read on here, Nintendo are just 1st party and Sony are just 3rd party, so unless Nintendo drop a sports bomb, looks like I'll be getting a White (did i read that correct?) PS4 for my FIFA and Tiger fix (will Tiger on PS4 be move compatible or have they dropped it?) Hope for the best but plan for the worst and all that. Honestly, I think we'll see Smash, Zelda, Bayonetta, X, Wii Sports Club and very little else. I really want 90's Arcade Racer to be confirmed. -
General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion

Has anybody seen the PS3 adverts? Why are Sony advertising the PS3 instead of the PS4? I wondered if it was to do with FIFA World Cup being on PS3 but generally bemused. I can't remember the last time I saw a Wii or 360 ad. -
i think everybody starts with 3 coins.
-
i think if they reversed the starting grid order (1st place in race starts at the back) then it would be brilliant, but as it is, it's far too easy for the best racers to stay in front for numerous races. I'm a little bit torn in that as a rule i prefer a game where the best players will win, skill should ultimately prevail, but this does feel a bit like the players at the back get constantly shafted making it even easier for the better players to win.
-
the only real problem i've experienced online is joining friends, which is a right royal pain in the arse. you can just sit there watching race after race waiting for a space to become available, it really needs patching/fixing. i have concerns for the league, the item system in mk8 does seem to make races less random and the best players will invariably win. this could make the league boring fairly quickly, but hopefully once the groups get split it will make for some epic nights.
-
Mario kart has always been a bit weird in that it tries to make races even by giving players at the back the best weapons but then contradicts itself by putting the winner at the front of the grid. For the handicap system to work the winner should start at the back. In this version it really makes a difference, if you come last in an online race you are screwed as you will then start at the back probably miss the first set of items and then you are doomed.
-
yeah I get that, I'm not that bothered either personally as I can play 13 on Wii U, but the bigger picture is less games on Wii U means less choice.
-
you can't underestimate the importance of FIFA, yes it probably peaked at 12, but not having it on Wii U will turn a lot of potential buyers away. Nintendo are fools if they don't do a deal with EA or Konami and get at least one football sim on the system.
-
1st lap feels like a time trial on most gp races. But that 3rd lap is evil. I thought it was going to be easy to get 3 stars having read comments on here, but no way Jose, MK still bends you over a barrel like no other game.
-
weapons are way weaker this time around. I think I've had 1 Bullet Bill and 2 Blue Shells in total. You just seem to get shells and mushrooms mostly. I joined the banana themed GP last night midway through, so didn't know what was going on. At first I thought why do I keep getting bananas, but by the 2nd lap when the track was literally littered with the blasted things I cottoned on.
