I was in Game yesterday and they are taking deposits for Switch. I'm waiting until we know what skews are available. I ended up pre-ordering 3 Wii U's as they kept releasing better bundles prior to launch. It's mad to think I was pre-ordering a Wii U months before launch and yet we won't even know what we can order for Switch probably less than 60 days before release. -

You've got some balls still trying to claim you have insider knowledge after your previous humiliation. -
I also don't get the criticism of the CGI. 80% of the characters in Star Wars are people dressed up in rubber suits some of which look laughable and in Episodes 1-3 there were also lots of CGI characters, so why the big uproar now.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Wii U / Switch

I firmly believe Nintendo's problems are entrenched in the stigma that they make "kiddy" games/consoles. The N64 probably started this when they started launching pokemon consoles and certainly the purple design of the gamecube didn't help. When you look at the top selling games on PS4 Uncharted/Killzone/Bloodborne/Last of US/GTA/COD they are all adult orientated games. In stark contrast Wii U has Mario/Splatoon/Smash Bros/Yoshi/Donkey Kong/Mario Kart/Toad/Wii U Party all colourful and cartoonish. There are some great games in there, but for Switch to be a real success they need the 3rd party adult games as well. Kids are growing up faster and whereas in the PS2 generation 15 years olds wanted a playstation that has now become 10 year olds. -

@Ashley why is it that you only ever pull up @Ronnie when he generalises in favour of Nintendo, but you never do the same to anybody who does the same in favour of PS4? Just asking as I feel impartiality is pretty important if you are moderating this forum. -

I think we should all cool our heels with the sudden alarm at the possible lack of power at least until the reveal. Nvidia are just about the top boys when it comes to graphics chips for pc and some unexpected 3rd parties have declared support for Switch and they will have developed kits so for them to be on board you have to assume power and porting games is not a hinderence. -

Not really. @dazzybee has said he want's 3rd party support so he can ditch his PS4. @Sheikah has said he wouldn't buy 3rd party games on a Nintendo console because he'll buy the "superior" version on PS4. They are both coming from very different places. -

Nintendo build a console with ways to change/improve the ways you can play games and then give dev kits to the games companies to create games. It doesn't work the other way round otherwise EA might as well just make their own console. So you could say it's Nintendo's "fault" for not building a console that people want to make games for, but it's the games companies "choice" not to support it. What are the main reasons we hear for this? 1: They can't compete with Nintendo's in-house software. 2: Their games don't sell well on Nintendo consoles. 3: It's too much work to convert from one graphics engine to another. 4: ?????? It's being implied on here that 4: is The graphics are not as good on Nintendo's console, but I'm not sure I've ever heard that and it makes little sense. If the game sells then graphics won't be an issue and if these developers are so concerned about their artistic integrity that their game might not look as good then why would this integrity not make them want to create something new using the tools that Nintendo have given them rather than just change the kits and players roster, slap on a 17 badge and throw it out for sale. -

Well I definitely want 3rd party support for Switch in particular EA. Give me FIFA & PGA + Nintendo's games and I'll take that. I'll be very unhappy if EA don't support Switch but will have to settle for only being able to plays these games at home on my PS4. The amazing thing about the Switch is a HD console that you can carry around with you and play your favourite games anywhere. It will almost be a mute point if that tagline becomes "play your favourite Nintendo games anywhere". I am in no doubt that a major contributing factor to the Wii U's poor sales was the lack of 3rd party support. what does that mean? It's not Nintendo's choice if 3rd party publishers don't release games on their system. Nintendo build the console and publishers decide whether to support it or not. The reasons why publishers pull support are varied and yes some of these reasons lay with Nintendo but you can't just blame Nintendo lock, stock and barrel every time a publisher doesn't release a game on a Nintendo console. -
Chelsea will be without Costa and Kante in their next match so this will be a test. If they can win without them I would be inclined to think the title is on it's way to stamford bridge.

You don't need a mic built into the system for voice chat. Mics are in the headsets that you purchase. We all know that Nintendo don't deliver the same party chat experience as Sony and Microsoft but let's not pretend that those systems come equipped with technology that Nintendon't -

It's just dawned on me that Switch will lose one of the best features of the Wii U. Dual screen multiplayer on games like COD was brilliant on Wii U but I can't see how this can be done. Oh well 2 steps forward 1 step back -
I coach football on Thursday evenings which is why I have not been playing, however we are now on Christmas break so I'll be around for the next few weeks.

This has got apple written all over it. I stopped using all apple products a couple of years ago after iTunes blocked me from playing an album on laptop that I had downloaded from the CD because I wasn't logged into iTunes.

I was playing some Mario Kart online last night and really hope they bring in some kind of league system for this game on the Switch. The online races are great but other than a running points total there is no consequence to coming first or last. I love how in Ultimate Team the last game of the season can often mean you are playing to get promoted or avoid relegation and it really increases the intensity of the match. -

I'm in that camp. In fact just the other day I was wondering what games I would buy at launch as other than Zelda there is nothing I'm bothered about from what we know so far. I'm getting it purely for the portability. I sold my 3DS some time ago, so this is an upgrade to that more than anything. If they can get EA fully on board then this will become my all in one gaming unit. If not PS4 at home and Switch on the go. -

yep that's a very valid comment. I thought a HD Wii with a tablet controller would fly off the shelves. I still can't quite get my around how it failed so spectacularly. -

At this point I can't see how it can fail. We already know pretty much what it is and what it's main "gimmick" is. Whilst for me personally EA not supporting would be a kick in the guts, I'm still getting one. A HD portable console can surely only do 3DS numbers as a minimum. There may be some annoyances but nothing that's a deal breaker. Battery life might not be great but USB charging means you'll be able to top up the battery pretty much anywhere. It might not have voice chat but Kav aside I can't believe many people would not buy this just for that reason. can't wait to find out what the launch titles are and what bundles will be available. -
My name is Anders Christian so plenty of banter with the Chelsea boys about why I don't get a game.

I hope Chelsea don't go and blow £60 million on Bonucci in Jan. Our defence is sound and still have Terry and Zouma on the bench, no need to rock the boat.

Great thread. The Wii was the first and only Nintendo console I didn't buy day 1. I had just had my first child and only played games sporadically at that time. I played Wii sports round a friends house a few months after launch and like so many people was instantly hooked. I then endured agonizing weeks of trying to get hold of one as they were rarer than rocking horse shit. The Good = Motion Controls. Nintendo's first proper online console, Mario Kart online is how I found this place and special shout to EA for the brilliant Tiger Woods and Grand Slam Tennis games. The Bad = The fact that Nintendo didn't really follow up with Motion Controls the way EA did. Wii Sports was basically a tech demo and was crying out for a follow up with online etc. The Uglii = The fact that my Homebrew stopped working and now I can't play it anymore.

I have to disagree with the Wii U software comments. I had already sold my 360 by the time the Wii U was released so I didn't have the option of buying games on another console but I had over 20 games within a few months of release.
