WTF! I thought Switch was categorically not a hybrid

City are the one team I'm concerned about.

In a few weeks when I'm playing Zelda at 33000 feet I won't be thinking of all the things Switch can't do that my PS4 can.

I think the premise of the Wii U was brilliant, but the game pad was for intents and purposes tethered to the console and the Switch has resolved this. My only gripe is the frankly dismal launch line up. I'm intrigued after that comment about a lot of 3Rd party games waiting to be announced.

The 3 Gamecube games that are rumoured to be ported to VC are Mario Sunshine (seems a bit daft considering we have a new Mario game coming to Swith) Luigis Ghost House (makes sense as there were rumours of this being a Switch game so probably Chinese whispers and it wad this all along) and Smash Bros. Would be great if they announced just before launch that these will be available day 1.

Because I can very much see a Wii U situation where after the first few million sales it falls off a cliff and then they either do a 3DS and drop the price or a Wii U where they just let it die. I've just found an article where apparently 3 different sources have confirmed GC VC is a thing and there are 3 games ready. Fingers crossed.

Once again it's starting to feel like us early adopters are going to get fisted by Nintendo. They must be aware of such rumours and REALLY need to confirm a whole lot of information before this thing goes on sale . I can very much see this dropping £50 and being bundled with 1-2 Switch within 6 months.

I've asked this before but not yet seen a definitive answer. Is Gamecube Virtual Console official or just a rumour?

So with a little over 20 days until launch are there any whispers of a direct or stream to fill in the blanks or is it really going to be a case of just buying it and hoping for the best.

definite n-Europe 4 player mash up nights on the cards with this Puyotetris game. Just gutted this won't be out in time for my Ski trip. I will be basically recreating the Switch reveal for this trip. Bit of Switch at the airport, then on tablet mode on the plane, 2 hours on the mini bus in handheld mode. I'm even contemplating putting in my rucksack and having some Zelda on the slopes with a cold beer and bowl of soup. With 8 hours in the air and 4+ hours in a mini bus I should have Zelda nearly completed by the time I get back so at least I'll get a good trade in price.

Oh he'll yeah! I love both of these games. 4 player tetras on N64 wereally some of my favourite gaming moments. Before I get too excited at possibilities is this online?

Yes the game is just a few quid more expensive at retail, there is no subscription service. So people who buy more games and therefore use the online system more, will pay more towards it. Good point about resold games. I guess something similar to what Microsoft were suggesting, whereby if a disc is registered to a new NNID they have to pay the additional fee to Nintendo to access the online part of the game.

Absolutely. A game like Zelda that is a single player game with no on-line functionality would not incur the cost, but games like Mario Kart, Splatoon, COD & FIFA which have a large on-line functionality would incur the charge. The more games you buy the more you contribute towards the online costs. There is always going to be the odd person who doesn't play online but you can't base a system around anomalies you have to base it on the majority. It's much fairer than charging everybody the same regardless of how much they use the service.

I'm with @Glen\-i all the way with this. What they should do is charge an extra couple of quid for their games to compensate for the cost of running servers. It's unfair that someone who owns 20 + games pays the same online cost as someone who only owns a couple of games. But I despise the practice and no amount of "free games" will change that.

To confirm. Game are sold out or coloured console, still limited availablility for the grey one. I don't know if that is just my local store or Game UK. Also Game online and in-store are two separate entities so stock issues will be different.

with the tagline "anytime, anyplace, anywhere" they should have called this the Nintendo Martini. Only me and Cookyman will probably get that :'-(

Just been to Game and pre ordered with Zelda. The guy said the coloured Switch was already sold out but they still had some grey units available. He also said Zelda will be sold out come launch day, so in effect everybody who is buying a Switch will be buying Zelda. On the day I think I'll get two coloured joycons, charging grip, screen protector & case. That's some serious coinage!!!!!

Imagine 4 of you sitting at a table on a train and having a multiplayer Mario kart match. The raucousNess will certainly attract some attention, though not necessarily all good. The eight player multi screen multiplayer is brilliant. Will be like the old days all sitting round a room full of pc's playing Quake. This console is starting to feel like Nintendo wanting to bring motion gaming to the handheld market. But it also is like a mash up of Wii/WiiU/3DS taking all the best bits from each console. Hopefully ordering mine today, I do quite like the idea of going a buying one at midnight (never done that before) but worried I might not get one. Is that likely?

I should really sort out my pre order before it sells out.
