Nintendo Switch - Happy Switchmas Everyone!
Clownferret replied to Serebii's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Exactly! people keep moaning about Nintendo putting in motion controls and HD rumble because they won't be used much but how many games actually use analogue trigger... not many is the answer. Has anybody seen any good deals/bundles for Switch yet? -

I think that's just down to if you have 3 kids and just need one extra for multiplayer. -

I do wonder if Nintendo's ultra secrecy stance on Switch included 3rd parties and they didn't send out dev kits until late in the day. It baffles me how so many games won't be ready at launch, especially games that are basically ports. Anyway, my main gripe is mostly the complete lack of software at launch and we know there are plenty of games on the horizon so all in all I'm back in. I've got a 4 hour flight and 2 hour transfer for my snowboarding trip the week after Switch is released so I'll be putting the battery through it's paces. -

Are there any more events/directs announced prior to launch? There seems to still be a lot of stuff we don't know and I would assume we will get full system specs, a proper look at the OS etc. -

So having had a chance to reflect on the launch my main concerns are the launch line up which abysmal. But that said there are a number of games we know are in production and many more we saw clips of, so at the moment I'm expecting that between now and launch more of these will be officially announced. Otherwise it just seems Nintendo are thinking Zelda is all we need. The price is disappointing but this may well change and in truth it's probably only £40 more than we were expecting. However I can't believe there is no pack in game and I can't believe 1-2 Switch is a retail game. At the very least they need to pack in a joycon in with this. We simply don't know enough about the online to be getting our knickers in twist just yet. I do wonder in the voice chat app is because of the portability of Switch. So if you're out and about with your Switch but don't have wifi you can still party chat using the app and in fact thinking about it if that is the case it's actually a very clever idea. Really not happy about paid online an if FIFA is gimped and missing UT I will blow my top. The console itself seems to be a brilliant piece of kit but THAT LAUNCH LINE UP. I will say this though. Everybody is/was very quick to defend PS4 for similar problems "launch line up doesn't matter" "paid online gets free games" so let's cool our heels a bit at least until we at least know the facts are. -

What does that mean? Do those versions have UT? -

Having now read through the pages of this thread since the presentation, I'm bewildered by some of the comments. Granted I was doing something else whilst watching the video so I may have missed some points but it seems like everybody is jumping to a lot of conclusions on here. -

They can't be analog because there is no way the shoulder buttons on the joycons are. -

Watching the presentation now... love the release date, I'm on a ski trip March 15th so being able to take this with me is a big bonus. 1:The joycons are a brilliant piece of tech. I thought they looked really basic on the first reveal, but the shoulder buttons and camera etc are really impressive. Hats off to Nintendo for once again showing they are the kings of creating controllers. 2: 1-2 Switch and Arms cannot seriously be retail games, These HAVE to be pack in with the hope they sell systems the way Wii Sports did. I simply can't see these selling unless they come packaged with a joycon a'la Wii Play. 3: Mario is Mario. Will sell millions of copies and be the pinnacle of the game style. 4: Xenoblade and Dragons Quest whilst not appealing to me personally, I imagine these games have a core audience and will shift consoles. Very much aimed at the Japanese market. 5:Skyrim will sell a handful of copies. 6: Grasshopper? WTF. 7: EA... FIFA. Yes IF it has Ultimate Team. Why wouldn't they add this feature it generates extra revenue with very little work required if they are already patching across from over version. I spend most of gaming time on Fifa at present so this big news for me and as long as it has UT I don't really care if this is the only version of Fifa we get. 8: Zelda is Zelda. Had to be launch it's been in production FOREVER 9: Price. OUCH! That is steep. I paid £300 for Wii U which was packed with Zombi U and a pro controller. Hopefully retailers will put together some decent bundles. 10: Really not happy about a paid online subscription. I don't think this will be Sony/Microsoft levels of cost. I'd be stunned if it's more than £20 per year. -

Game are limiting pre orders to 1 per person. I prefer ordered 3 Wii U's so they must be thinking there will be stock issues -

Annoyingly from the rumours there is pretty much nothing I want to play from the launch line up. I've still got to play 3D Mario on Wii U and I can also get Zelda on Wii U. Hoping some GC VC will be live at launch. Still day 1 but not sure what I'll be playing. Hopefully there will be some surprise games announced. -

For some reason I always thought it was Thursday. Gutted now I've got to wait and extra day. -

Hang on when is this? Japan is ahead of us so it can't be Thursday in Japan and Friday in UK. I always thought it was Thursday morning. Can anybody clarify I don't want to get up to 4am twice in a row. -
he just hatched a new pokemon so that explains it.

My sons iPhone is now showing 248 pokemon spaces in the pokedex, My android only shows 178 so does this mean they are about to launch gen 2? And when will bloody trading start?

It's part of the system and a very expensive part at that. If Nintendo did make Switch as powerful as PS4, what would everybody say... "it's too expensive" Do people really want an exact replica of the PS4? What would be the point? -
Nintendo Switch - Happy Switchmas Everyone!
Clownferret replied to Serebii's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Of course they have. Every comment like "I'll get the PS4 version as it's got better graphics" "If it's not cheaper than the PS4 I won't buy it" "If it doesn't have party chat I won't buy it" are saying exactly that. People want everything the other consoles have plus all the extra Nintendo stuff but cheaper. I just raised it because as yet I haven't seen anybody saying "unless PS4 let's me take my games with me I'm buying the Switch/version" -

If you've got a wifi connection then you're not exactly out and about and I can't believe anybody is going to be using party chat whilst sitting on a train. I'm not saying it doesn't matter if Nintendo don't get 3rd parties, that couldn't be further from the truth. I'm questioning the logic on here of people who have said they will buy these games on the other console anyway but then continue to complain about what features the Switch may or may not have. I'm not letting them off the hook, I'll be furious if I can't play Fifa on the Switch. But as I've just said there is too much nonsense on here along the lines of "if Switch can't do everything a PS4 can plus better and be cheaper too then it's not worth buying and if the games aren't exactly the same as the PS4 versions they are not worth buying. -

In the ideal world of course. But Nintendo are sacrificing a powerful graphics chip to enable them to provide a screen. People seem to expect Nintendo to release the most powerful console with free online and a tablet controller, cheaper than the opposition and then slag them off when they don't do it. -

Well for the majority of people depending on your circumstance the Switch is either an upgrade to your Wii U or 3DS. If you're in the "I'm buying all my games on my other home console" then it stands to reason that you'll be using the Switch more as your portable device. -

Clownferret replied to Serebii's topic in Nintendo Gaming
The majority of people on here are clearly going to still buy 3rd party games on their non Nintendo console, which makes the Switch very much their portable gaming device. In which case voice chat and social features are not so much of an issue as you won't be using them when out and about. I really don't get the logic of people wanting versions of games that are excactly the same as PS4/XB1, just buy those games on those systems if you already own them. Nintendo are offering a new and unique system which offers some really great benefits to gamers. But it's always the same old "I'm not buying the Switch version as the graphics won't be as good" Why not "Switch" the argument around and say I am buying the Switch version because of the things that game can't do on another console. My point is each console offers a certain amount of uniqueness but it always seems on here that whatever the benefits offered by Sony and Microsoft are always used as the most important features. -

I get friend lists although don't you generally play against strangers in FIFA (certainly in ultimate team you do) the rest is gobbledygook to me. Controls? It's FIFA the controls are the same for all the consoles, network infrastructure...really? Graphics is the point of the discussion. Would you choose a better graphics tethered to your TV or inferior graphics that you can take on the go. -

The option has not been then before. Halo isn't an example as it's exclusive to Xbox. What are your reasons to buy FIFA on Xbox rather than Switch assuming they are like for like with game modes? -
Nintendo Switch - Happy Switchmas Everyone!
Clownferret replied to Serebii's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Literally nobody is going to buy Switch because they are looking for an upgrade on their PS4. It's two main selling points are being an HD handheld, so a huge advance on the 3DS and it's portability as a console, so the ability to play current gen games anywhere. The choice people will have to make when buying their next FIFA/COD etc is do I want the better looking PS4 version that is tethered to my tv or a graphically inferior version that I can play anytime, any place, anywhere. I don't think you can say one is better than the other it's a lifestyle choice.
