  1. Here's the video he sent me: Maybe someone can help Darren. Personally, I think his PS4 is broken or he had the vacuum hose round his cock at the time. I don't know which is more likely. I love the idea of voice search, much better than folders which encourage anal retentiveness in the best of us.
  2. It's some time ago but I recall my old insurer NOT covering digital purchases and not all insurances will cover you for damage/loss outside home; it's probably worth checking. And no insurance will be able to replace hours and hours of saves; back ups should be a prerequisite to modern consoles with HDD. It's moronic not to have this on Wii U not because the competition have it but because people spend hours on games and don't wish to loose this data.
  3. Are you referring to cloud saves? If that's the case you're quite insane; nowadays cloud saves are essential. Should a console pack in - you want your saves automatically backed up.
  4. Out of interest, would people prefer folders, a search facility, algorithm to estimate what you're likely to play? Folders just seem limiting, quite archaic in my opinion. Thoughts?
  5. @Guy @liger05 Seriously, I wasn't being serious as I had seriously hoped this would illustrate: Since you're going to argue all day about what a "proper account" is i'll provide some assistance. To me an "account" (in this instance) simply requires a log in with a user name and password, I think at the most fundamental level, that's what a computer account is, right? Nintendo have a "proper" account, that's indisputable. Is it comparative to the competition? Does it meet expectations? Hell no! There are some insane omissions to Nintendo's implementation; a system transfer should be able to be done without both consoles (lost, faulty) - this should include cloud save data and if necessary restrictions be put in place to ensure games are not inappropriately shared. NNID should be able to be split from one console, installed on another. Logging in elsewhere should enable me to track my stats across devices and upload them to an online profile (this was promised with the N64 Memory Pak and still hasn't materialised!). Families should be able to share digital games on individual (portable) devices. All this takes time and effort in an area where Nintendo historically shows very little interest. It's maddening and I can't personally see this changing, a blanket restriction like we have requires little effort, is cheaper and (for the market Nintendo are still trying to reach) easy to understand.
  6. What are they missing? A unified friend list, cloud saves (essential!). The idea of signing in elsewhere is something Nintendo are just not going to implement, such a move would destroy them financially; people signing in on friends consoles to share purchases, people would spend their time walking to friends house rather than playing/buying games. Being able to sign in elsewhere, logging my playtime and even saves should be enabled by now. I'll never complete that waddlewing level at home, (with "what-do-i-do wobbly fingers @lindsey") yet i competed it (spectacularly) with @dazzybee on his machine. Sure. Turn your Wii U on. Sure. Leave the house, call back and ask Ma to format the Wii U.
  7. To be fair, NFC could easily be integrated into a new Pro style controller or portal included in a Gamepad-less SKU. If they chose to drop it, they'd look at alternative ways to support Amiibo or whatever. They are committed to GamePad but I think there will come a time when they do drop the GamePad for a significant price reduction.
  8. Thank fuck for cloud back up for saves, eh? Oh, wait a minute...
  9. Revealed here. First trailer Out 27 September, Japan.
  10. I dont have a hat but if I did i'd be willing to bet my hat that this continues as a basis for fully fledged loyalty scheme.
  11. I don't think it's quite as simple as blaming Iwata, I think its cultural. Japanese gamers do seem to be less interested in online gaming, I think that's reflected within Nintendo. For a multinational, it's an absurdly Japanese-centric company with very little understanding of western (gaming) attitudes. Any leader after Iwata would have difficulty in shifting the company to embrace online. I'm happy to see Iwata keep his position. If he had lost the presidency, I think it would have proved to be demotivating across the company, illustrating that those short term profiteering investors hopping on the Wii bandwagon run the show. Iwata is a great leader and clearly well respected across the organisation but he needs to ensure he and the top ranks really learn from the failings of Wii U and 3DS.
  12. @Pestneb I'm not sure how they'll convince me!
  13. How much content is there in the welcome edition? Enough for an 8 year old? Any significant drawbacks to the welcome edition?
  14. Does it fix the really irritating Promo tag on the Wii U menu? This drives me insane.
  15. In the past i've had Talktalk, BT, Orange and more recently Sky. Talktalk is OK, cheap and cheerful but the only way to get decent customer service is to escalate to the CEO office. Orange is fine, nothing spectacular. BT and Sky are excellent (if only for reliable access to their wifi hotspots). The key thing to do before choosing any broadband provider is to check if the exchange has been LLU unbundled (check out samknows). If their not unbundled you're simply on BT's wholesale service (which seems, but shouldn't be a poorer service). If your ISP has an LLU connection at your local exchange the whole product/service is provided by them.
  16. Well I think that's a rather thumbist thing to say.
  17. Fantastic- they're streaming using YouTube. At least in Japan. UStream was so shoddy, barely watchable.
  18. The 3DS implementation is a joke. Having a back up on the same media as the original is mental. There was talk of cloud saves at some point... wonder if this is still coming?
  19. Different subject, for those who have one how long is your WiiU extended battery lasting?
  20. I think it's pretty variable but there were some speed improvements in the recent update. It still feels clunky and slow. I think the problem is that it feels slow, rather than actually being slow. Perhaps they need to hide loadd by adding some slick loading animations and trick us into believing its faster.
  21. It would be if they'd remove the daily 10 coin limit. I easily wank enough to earn 100+ coins per day but Nintendo set another arbitrary limit. Rejig the whole thing, 1 coin per 500 steps but have no limit on coins.
  22. It's not as if they didn't have good reason. Some of it was, of course, down to the lack of new software at launch, they didn't support the launch lineup. A large part of the problem is some really sloppy launch preparations and subsequent work from Nintendo. I don't think we can blame a business - one which is reliant on the success of another - for taking decisions to ensure profitability and it's own survival.
  23. Power? Future proofing? Joining people who have purchased a PS4? Better social features? To irritate people on message boards?
  24. I feel like I should be excited by the prospect of this but it just feels a bit odd. I suppose free is free.
  25. @dazzybee and I will be online at 9pm if people want a hammering.
