I think they were referring to american slave-trade. They weren't exactly depicted as humans, educated and worthy of your money for a good, honest days work were they.

Does anyone know that Enid Blyton had golliwog characters in her books of Noddy, and they were the evil characters that stole his car and caused other mischief. The term 'wog' also became a racial slur. I mean, heck, I would not want anyone to refer to me as a Golliwog. And the defence for thatcher is looking a little creaky after reading this: Carol Thatcher repeatedly described a black tennis player as a golliwog, despite being challenged by those gathered after the filming of a BBC show, sources said last night. As the BBC announced that it had received more than 2,200 complaints about its decision to sack Thatcher as a contributor to The One Show, it was alleged that she had also used the terms “golliwog frog” and “halfgolliwog” to refer to the player, who is of French-African origin. The former Prime Minister’s daughter was dropped as a roving reporter for the BBC’s early-evening programme after The Times disclosed that she had caused consternation by using the word “golliwog” at the informal get-together, a week yesterday. Related Links * How a chivalrous hero became a symbol of racism * What is wrong with calling someone a golliwog? * The worrying G-word is Greenroom Thatcher’s spokeswoman has said that she used the word as a joke in what she saw as a private conversation, and offered a “fulsome apology” when challenged by the corporation. Last night, however, sources said that the journalist, who is understood to be leaving the country today for a month-long speaking tour, repeatedly referred to the player as a golliwog. It is claimed that at the gathering of 12 people in the green room, Thatcher, along with Adrian Chiles, the show’s host, and Jo Brand, who had appeared as a guest, talked about the Australian Open tennis tournament. Thatcher, who had been drinking, her spokeswoman admitted, is alleged to have referred to “the golliwog frog”, thought to be a reference to the French player Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who has a white French mother and a black Congolese father. As some rolled their eyes and others challenged Thatcher about her use of the word, she is said to have responded, “well, he’s half-golliwog”, prompting Brand to leave the room in disgust. It is understood that Thatcher then said: “Now I’m in trouble, just like Prince Harry.” The prince apologised after referring to an Asian colleague as “our little Paki friend” on a video. Baroness Thatcher is understood to be upset. A friend is reported as telling The Daily Telegraph: “Lady Thatcher feels sad for Carol, who has been hurt by all the accusations. But she thinks the whole row is a load of nonsense.” On BBC2’s Newsnight last night, Will Young, the pop singer, said the BBC panicked in axing Thatcher. “I don’t think it’s the right decision. I feel sorry for the BBC because there’s a culture of timidity,” he said. The player’s mother, Evelyne Tsonga, said that her son was “deeply hurt and upset”. Mrs Tsonga, a teacher from Coulaines, near Le Mans, in France, said that her son was “absolutely astonished” by the attack. A statement on The One Show website said that Thatcher’s language “caused instant offence”. It added: “Jo questioned Carol about it at the time but, contrary to some recent press reports, neither she nor Adrian contacted the press.” The BBC had faced a growing backlash over its stance, with Thatcher’s spokeswoman claiming that there was a vendetta against the journalist because of her mother. Jay Hunt, controller of BBC One, said: “This is not her working in a private space and she was not in the pub with her friends. She was sitting in a BBC green room on BBC premises surrounded by a diverse production team on The One Show speaking to a BBC-booked guest, a BBC-booked celebrity and in the presence of a senior production worker from Comic Relief. In those circumstances she was effectively operating in a workplace.” Linky Link

There is actually a long story about chocolate, which I heard/read, can't remember, in that Tony Yaa was supposed to star in it, but he had a falling out with the director. Tis a rumour, but some of the choreography is amazing in this, and some of the moves so bone breaking, at the end you get to see how many of the actors went to hospital and what the broke in particular. I think one of them broke their back! Tis an awesome film. Should of got it on blu ray though... Anyways, this arrived today for £17.99 from gameplay: Quite weighty so i feel it has good build quality, but the bit that clips to your ear feels like I could break it easily if I think of it as my old bluetooth headset which you could move in a way you cant with this one...

Heh, should just join my hosted games then Only worry I have with this game is getting someone to join me every time I play, and then, it has to be someone with half a brain to boot. Atm, only got one friend getting this game so it may get a bit awkward continuing when he is not around.

THIS is most, including my, issue with the controls. I had played the ps2 version of RE4, and initially found it weird but got used to it. After the wii version, I didnt even know how I managed with the former. Figuring out that you can easily switch weapons using the dpad was a godsend for my latest playthrough though. The control scheme is not as badly designed as it first appears, although I really do hate having to hold L2, then press R1 to use the knife. Feels a bit uncomfortable. As for the demo on a whole, I think I judged it unfairly when I first played through. It's SOOOO much more fun when playing with a mate. Seriously. If you dont have ps3 headset, then use something like skype as this also really adds to the experience. Reminds me *almost, I must stress* of a MUCH slower version of left 4 dead. I am now, finally, really looking forward to the release of this game.

The Hell?! Looks awesome!

Well it was on my evil character and she has done a lot worse... Although she had been gaining a bit of a conscience. After this though, its gone forever.

OMG...I bought some of that strange meat one time! It was good too! I wanted more!

For me, putting the difficulty down would have made me less, for lack of a better word, better at the game. For example, if I got stuck killing a certain enemy in a certain way, I would resort to other tactics that which tended to work better (landmines against super mutants are startingly effective). Also, doing so allowed me to find out that pulse equipment is good against bots. Would not of known had I not tried almost everything in my inventory when in the bot factory. And it's so much more fun not using the map travel. Allows you to come across areas you would have totally missed out on. Or see some hilarious sights like refugees from megaton, attacking you, then getting raped by a hidden deathclaw.
-
I was thankful the areas were like this as it gave me ample to fight with the controls, in an effort to eventually do what i wanted to do.

Already got you maase. Your brother is fun to play with on Left 4 dead.
-
True. Makes me wonder why that German review that Dante posted, stated that the AI was outstanding IIRC. That said, maybe the demo is on easy.
-
Heh, was wondering why you were running around not shooting him for a bit. Yeah, the chainsaw guy bit was intense. Makes me wonder though if its instant death if he connects but i doubt it is after surviving multiple hits from the axe guy in the other part of the demo. I am sold on this game though, and if I didnt have a massive headache, I would play the game again now.

Just played this with diageo and damn, dwarf is right, the game can be fun but the point in this one is to play with another. REALLY adds to the experience when you actually care about the wellbeing of your partner, and when you know they have your back. Was surprised how much fun it was, and its not hard to setup either. When this game comes out, if anyone feels like parnering me, then let me host as I have a wired ps3 now, and I dont think diageo got any lag connecting to me. Gonna go pre-order this pronto!

...cable in box? I bought this second hand (extremely good condition and was only 4 months old) but I never got an ethernet cable, even though I got the receipt for the machine along with the box and all the cables. Also are these really long cables, like 15 metres in poundland cos thats what i needed.

Im a team user, though I am quite amored with Left 4 Dead atm

I actually decided to not play it until I can get a mate to have a go online.

Not sure if anyone has seen this so: "The collaboration between PS3 games and Home will be stepped up a gear when Capcom releases its big hitters, Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil 5 on PS3, with some of the coolest crossover content we've seen so far. Capcom is putting out fully themed costumes that make your avatar look like Ken, Ryu, and Chun-Li from SFIV, and Chris Redfield and others from Resi 5 (for a small fee). Other content for Home, including small models and other apartment props can be unlocked as you play through both games. Perhaps even cooler is a new Resi 5 lounge which will be themed around a location in the game. Check out the screens - you'll recognise it. In-Home matchmaking for online games will also be available in both games, allowing you to boot straight into gameplay from Home. This will be available at launch for Resi and added as a post-release patch for SFIV, according to translations of a Famitsu report. No dates or prices yet, but we want more like this please, publishers." CVG. Article Link Seems VERY worthwhile to me. But I do wonder why the Playstation.Blog has mentioned anything about this.

Wired connection has yet again proved to own. Transcoding and streaming problems are now a thing of the past as I bought a new ethernet cable for just 7.99 for my comp, got some masking tape for the old wire as I had accidently sherred some of plastic protective coating, and now thats in my ps3. 1080p anime and 24 here I come

That's what it must be. Two buttons to decide how to pick up an item?! Not cool. Damn fool should just pick the damn ammo up when she damn well needs it rather than running around with nothing in her gun and letting me get slapped in the back. Controls...were different. Just, nowhere near as comfy as the wii setup for RE4 was. Makes me want to play that game again...

I think you forgot to lock the topic

In a word: No. Can't believe you made a topic just for this!

Just ordered the astounding wolfman collection...then saw the 6-8 weeks. No big deal though as I have plenty of novels to read, and then recently ordered Watchmen which should arrive sometime next week. But anyone know the cheapest place I can get the ultimate collection of Invincible: vol 1 as I really want to see what is so great about this series.
