  1. I've explained mine before, but I'll gladly do it again. In 4th grade, we sang the song called Danny Boy in class, and one of my classmates wanted to sound smart and said "What's up, Dannyboy?" to me. I started using it as my username online, but found out it wasn't completely original, so I added "the Dane" after it to distinguish myself. Plus Denmark is a small country, so I'm proud to represent it online. Yep, I'm the only Dannyboy the Dane that pops up when Googling.
  2. Cracked me up!
  3. Well, I've never been in a relationship, but it doesn't exactly sound like mere friendly behaviour ...
  4. Pete was too drunk to realise that Ted's friend was masturbating openly while looking at him.
  5. Ah, but she doesn't always have to be a smoking hottie. That is both the beauty and ugliness of falling in love: The feelings don't take in regard looks or personality. On the contrary, the feelings will make you almost incapable of seeing anything wrong about the person. This is often a good thing when it comes to looks, but can be a very bad thing when it comes to personality. Of course, that is the case for those love-at-first-sight crushes. At other times, you fall in love specificically with a person's looks or personality, and whereas the former is rather shallow, the latter is often the best basis for a good relationship.
  6. Guys, as interesting as this is, would you PLEASE create another thread for it? I know I'm complaining, but I don't come to this thread to read about religion, I come to this thread to read about internet myths. And frankly, I'm tired of religion discussions. I've read too many of them and become too pissed with some people, so please take this somewhere else.
  7. But the thing is, you don't always need to spend time with someone to develop a crush. You may just lay eyes on her once and BAM, you're in love.
  8. In the summer holidays, I could spend hours online in the daytime, jumping between threads. My enormous amount of free time and lack of anything better to do resulted in me reading and posting in many threads, some which even didn't interest me. I'd also stay up till 3 AM or so, just browsing through the forums. I mainly stayed in General Chit Chat and Wii Discussion inlucing subforums, though. Now, school has begun again and I only log on in the evening after I'm done with my homework and before I go to bed. I am more tired and can't stay up till late at night anymore, so I only read and post in the threads that really interest me now. And about reading and posting, I read a thread and post if I feel I want to contribute. I like discussing things, but only things that I feel I have sufficient knowledge to discuss. I really don't feel I can take part in the weed thread, as I don't know much about drugs, except they're bad for you. And some would call that a prejudiced opinion, so I'll just stay clear of it as I can't really defend it well.
  9. I hate it when they do that ...
  10. Next theme: People having a fit. Should be interesting.
  11. It's hard to explain, really. I don't think I know myself. It just fascinates me. Now, back to topic before Dan has a fit. :p
  12. You are so awesome. I haven't met anyone with this great an interest in languages before.
  13. I wondered about the 30 cm measurement, too, but it seems to be the most accurate in the metric system. And don't worry, I don't swing it around. I mostly just look at it and admire it. Even if it is merely stainless steel, I've seen much worse replicas. This looks quite real to the untrained eye. You does not be teh boss of me! Fantastic picture! : peace:
  14. Oh, I wasn't aware. No matter what, I hate discrimination in all its forms.
  15. We know the how the rules are, but we're wondering why they are so. Normally, the possessive mark is an apostrophe followed by an "s", like so: Daniel's. But when we are talking about the pronoun "it", there's no apostrophe: its. It isn't logical. The only reason for it is to make "its" and "it's" distinguishable.
  16. Guys, no religion talk. I think some feminists are seeing what they want to see, i.e. sexual discrimination everywhere. I'd even say women get positive discrimination in some cases, for example cases about alleged rape or child custody.
  17. Moogle, I know what you mean and I've been pondering it myself. I haven't come to a conclusion, unfortunately.
  18. That cracked me up! :p I love everything Japanese and generally Asian, particularly martial arts and Japanese swords See, a wakizashi is longer than 30 centimetres and a tanto is shorter. You measure a straight line from the base of the blade to the tip, in which case my sword is 31 centimetres, making it a wakizashi. However, 'tis a bit tricky with this one, as the habaki is forged from the same piece of metal as the rest of the blade, a thing less often seen, and I do not know whether I should measure the habaki as part of the blade. On the other hand, on nihonto where the habaki is a separate piece of metal, the actual blade extends inside the habaki. As there seem to be other swords enthusiasts in here, I hope one of them can enlighten me on the subject.
  19. Guys, all religion discussions are bound to escalate. Do us all a favour and create another thread for it if you want a debate about it. I really don't want to read another thread about religion, and as this thread isn't even about the topic, you should go somewhere else with it. Pwease?
  20. The bread knifes in my house are sharper than this thing, and that's not even exaggerating. :p But it's nicely made and looks very real.
  21. Well, my little post of self-pity certainly started something. I have to agree: Even if my crush hurts, I wouldn't want to have it undone. I wish I could move on, but I'd never want to not have had it. Even though I know I'll probably never have a relationship with the girl, there have been many little moments of intense feelings of love and joy. And those made it all worthwhile. Though I still have the feelings, I've accepted the state of things, and though I'll never stop hoping, I guess I have moved on to some degree.
  22. 'Appey berthday, mates.
  23. I don't have a personal mug or anything like that. But I have a wakizashi from Japan that I'd like to show off, so here goes.
