Would anyone mind if I started the sign-up thread for my DIY mafia now? Or does someone else really want to go first?

I have two comments on the game.
First of all, I'm wondering if the mafia was a bit overpowered this time around, especially since there were a few roles dealing with false info on the townies' team. You also have to consider that it's harder for the town to work things out from the write-ups when the powers aren't as basic. It's not a bad thing! Your roles are very interesting.
You just have to consider that it's harder to figure out what's going on for the town.Secondly, we really disagree on the thing about fixed day lengths. I'll need to hear how you're going to do it in the future before I sign up for the next game.
(Also, it's getting annoying with non-participating players ...)
(And you really shouldn't help any of the sides. Seriously. That's bad mojo. Very bad mojo.)

How come Dannyboy acts more suspicious when he's town than when he's mafia?
I really don't know. It's strange. I think I'm just not as causious about how I act when I'm town, and people really have a tendency to mistake certain types of behaviours for mafia behaviour, even when they're not. Look back at how hard it was for me to change any opinions, even with solid arguments. Some people (granted, some of these were mafia) were convinced that I was mafia, and if your mind is set on it, you can almost read any type of behaviour as suspicious. That's why I hate to judge on behaviour alone. It's so easy to make mistakes there.
Oh, and ReZ: We may disagree on fixed day lengths and stuff. That's fair enough. But you shouldn't help any of the sides.

I was convinced that Cube was evil at the end, but Rummy and Raining? Never suspected Rummy, and after pushing Raining, her story was plausible, and at that point it was too late for me anyway. -
The new forum has actually grown on me. I like the way it is now, so no complaints there from me. : peace:
However, I must voice my agreement that you mods and admins don't seem to have handled this experiment equally well all the time. It would seem like a little more democracy is in order next time.

Sorry but a silencer is just not a townie role. At all. What's the point in a townie silencer? There isn't one. But for the mafia it is very useful for keeping someone quiet who has info/has been outspoken. Rez, I urge you to vote.
See, my only worry is that MadDog doesn't know this. I made the rookie mistake of making a townie silencer in my first game since I didn't realise how pointless it was.

Because the DIY one is my first game, I've given everyone pretty standard roles. I thought that using pretty standard roles, it'd give me a good picture on the running of a mafia game. I'm planning on doing more games, so i can take what i learn from this game and use it to hopefully make my next better.
How is everyone finding the DIY game so far? Please be honest if you think it sucks
It's always good to start out with basic roles. I did the same and quickly found out what worked and what didn't. I think your mafia is great so far.
The write-ups are perfectly detailed to my tastes - not too complicated, but not too vague, either. -

While I see the appeal of such strict timeframes, I personally think it's much better the way it is now where we organise and play these things out on "gefühl".

As long as there is discussion, the day phase shouldn't end IMO. Only if there hasn't been any activity for a sizable amount of time should the host end the day prematurely, and he or she should give a warning beforehand.

I hate DIY mafia.
Mostly because people choose shite half the time -- things which don't translate well into the mafia game. And the roles have no synergy, and it makes me want to die inside.
I need someone to do a stunning story-driven one.
It seems our opinions on mafia games constantly differ. :p I love the silly and often funny constellations of DIY mafias. If the host is really creative, it can make for some interesting combinations and story elements.

I dunno, while we share opinions on mafia write-ups, it was honestly a pain in the behind to read the write-ups of your last mafia. I felt completely lost and helpless after reading them - provided I actually managed to get through them. That being said, I'm a mafia addict, so I'm in, of course!
If I'm lucky, I may be able to remain unsuspicious for three days this time! :p

But I don't feel you gave the discussion a chance at the end. I think we simply disagree about time limits. That's fair, but I may rethink my participation in future games if this is the standard.

Come on, that wasn't fair, ReZ. Heck, I'd rather have seen myself lynched than this. You have to stop being so impatient, otherwise I might think twice about entering another Pokémafia.
