The IGN videos have impressed me a lot more than anything else on the game so far and the hand stuff looks really cool, but one thing is really worrying me. Is it just me or do the turning controls seem really clunky and unnatural? The aiming looks fantastic but the turning really looks odd to me just now, I hope it improves a lot before it's released.

I just hope the same thing that happened with my first game happened with this. Halfway through the 5th case and my save file corrupts.

Just when I thought the best news was all over, even more awesomeness comes. The only thing stopping this from being 2 of the best days in the history of ever is no Sonic Rush 2, Smash Brothers Wii and Sony's act of heartless thievery.

I don't have a first clue what's going on in the actual surgery shots. I guess they couldn't make this a realistic looking game though since it'd probably instantly be an 18.

Well one thing he specifically stated is that Prime 3 has MUCH larger areas than Prime 2 and far more enemies on screen. Both of those will enhance gameplay more than graphics, but if they simply just upped the polygon count and textures, they couldn't have expanded the scale of areas and amount of enemies much.

Oh come off it, it clearly is. Games like Galaxy and Red Steel are definitely above Gamecube in my eyes but they're definitely not THAT far above. Stop even thinking about the specs at all now, who cares.

Did anyone else laugh when they announced the name in the conference? I mean it screams "Watersports"....I wont go into what I mean but I think you'll get the idea. The game looks really fun though, visually arse but that's obviously why 3 are being bundled as one. The tennis game in the video was probably the highlight of the conference though even above everything else. Legendary.

Oh shit I just thought of something, what if this doesn't come to Europe because nowhere will sell GC games anymore? Worst case fucking scenario...they said TP Gamecube version was coming to "The Americas".

Holy fuck! This beats THE SHIT out of NSMB! In fact I'm honestly as excited about this as Galaxy now, this is the TRUE Mario sidescroller I've been waiting for, unique art style, full use of 3d visuals, playable Bowser again too! Wow, seriously, wow.

Ummm..."Activision" aren't making this game, that's not how game development works. Most game developers are made up of lots of smaller development teams and actually quite often farm out their games to smaller developers, which is happening in this case. This game is being made by "Toys for Bob", the other Tony Hawk games are made by "Neversoft" although most of the handheld games were made by Viscarious Visions or something. -

MORE POWER DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY EQUAL BETTER VISUALS. For fucks sake there's so many ignorant people here, yes this game looks like shit, but that's because it's being made by a small developer with a low budget obviously. In a case like that, a game cant possibly look "next gen" because making a next gen game is FAR from easy and requires a shitload of work and manpower. This isn't representative of Wii's power, but it is representative of the approach some developers are going to take to developing for Wii, getting smaller teams to make exclusive titles for it while their main teams (the only ones capable of making games that look "next gen") focus on the other systems. Hence why games that are actually made by more experienced development teams, like one of Ubisoft's better studios working on Red Steel, actually look pretty good. -
Tony Hawks Downhill Jam: Rev EXCLUSIVE!!
James McGeachie replied to Retro_Link's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I honestly think the reason this game looks so horrificly bad is just that they have a small team working on it while their main Tony Hawk team focuses on the 360 and PS3 titles. This looks worse than the very first Tony Hawk games on PS2, which means that obviousy the shitness has nothing to do with the system's power. -

There only are 2 versions of Downhill Jam, DS and Wii and the DS CANNOT do texture filtering, these are Wii screens....Wii EXCLUSIVE screens, no port from current gen. I'm starting to get it now, when developers make exclusive Wii versions of their franchises, it'll be with cheap small development teams who can only work at low level. This looks like an n64 game, which is hilarious, but hopefully it'll improve. Those screens are actually a bit higher than the game resolution so they might not be quite representative. At least the draw distance is decent though. -
Wii dev costs fraction of PS3's, 360's
James McGeachie replied to DiemetriX's topic in Nintendo Gaming
The PS3 and 360 have multicore processors, they could still be squeezing more and more power out of them 4 or 5 years from now. The Wii has one processor that on its own is about a fifth as powerful as a single core of the 360's processor. In other words, the very best Wii visuals possible will probably be "equivalent" to some of the decent looking first gen 360 games and they'll be able to squeeze out all of Wii's potential in next to no time since it's easy to develop for. Of course, like Nintendo have said, art styles play a big part in how well a game looks anyway, titles like Okami on PS2 could be described as visually stunning and beautiful even now despite being on an incredibly aged system. -

You don't have a clue about game development. More power doesn't automatically mean making games as visually impressive as RE4 becomes easy, it still takes an incredible amount of work and effort from a team, hence there's not a doubt in my mind that a lot (and I do mean a LOT) of Wii games wont be up to RE4's quality. RE4 pushed the Gamecube to it utmost limits basically, made by an extremely talented development team, over a very long development time. Not every developer has the ability or time to get as much out of a system like that. -

On the plus side, this screen looks like it confirms that Rayman is yet another 16:9 game on Wii, making most of the games we have a decent amount of info about so far widescreen, so that's a good sign. I suppose that's basically the standard nowadays anyway, but it wouldn't have surprised me if developers had ended up leaving it out, so I'm glad right away it's been shown they're not. -

Are you all fucking thick? It's already been confirmed on IGN a lot of early Revolution games are going to be ports of current gen games with slight upgrades and controller functionality thrown in. This is obviously one of those games and it's not going to be the only one that looks like this on Revolution, there's going to be tons more. The good looking games are going to be the exclusives built from the ground up like Red Steel and the Nintendo titles, any games you hear are on "PS2, Xbox and Wii" or anything like that are going to look like current gen titles, simple as, so get used to it. That being said, the game doesn't even look that bad though, it's just obviously current gen. It could still be the PS2 version, but chances are the Wii version will look very similar to all the other current gen ones anyway, because being on a more powerful system doesn't magically make something look better unless serious work is put into upgrading it. To be entirely honest, other than Nintendo stuff, Red Steel and maybe a couple of others, there's a good chance most early third party titles will look worse than this. -

Shame handhelds aren't up yet, but I don't like the comment about the PSP doing much better than DS here, though it was expected. -
I severely doubt Wii has a multi-core processor, as we would've known by now since we know the specs of the system. By "all" he probably simply means PS3 and 360 because those are the only systems developers are classing as "next gen". When they think of Wii, they either think of it as being "new gen" like Nintendo try to push or just an extension of current consoles. I don't know the situation with Brothers in Arms 3 but if there's a current gen version of the game too, that's the one Wii will get, slightly upgraded.

Wii - a Prefix for controller and accessories?

"Wii-mote" almost sounds like a neat quirky name....almost.
