well if it's the sugar-free ones you may be running to the toilet soon since they act as a laxative in large doses!

oh well that'll save me some money every month Greg Land gets no more of my money!

What song(s) are you really into at the moment?!

Seeing them on Thursday reminded me how much I love this song! -
What makes you think the FA have any say in it?

Batgirl is Barbara Gordon who had become Oracle after being crippled by the Joker and confined to a wheelchair, she has now been cured and back to being Batgirl The Owl guys from Batman isn't something I'm aware of but I'm not that up on my obscure Bat villains. The main Justice League book is just called Justice League and it's being done by Geoff Johns and Jim Lee, and the first arc is the formation of the team, so a great jumping on point. It's probably the best of the 3 Justice League books (the others being International and Dark). As for other recommendations, Green Lantern has been consistently good, Action Comics (whilst splitting opinion in this thread) is shaping up to be a decent Superman book (basically him starting to use his powers in Metropolis, but not being fully powered yet), Aquaman first issue was great, went totally meta in dealing with the public perception of him as a rubbish superhero Batgirl obviously (you mentioned it above but not sure if you've read) Wonder Woman as well are some of the more obvious choices, I've enjoyed most of what I've read of the 52

yeah Fear Itself was poorly paced, setup took too long and the finale seemed rushed, even with an extended final issue (although a lot of the extra pages were previews for new books spinning out of the series), not sold on Fraction's ability to write event books. I must say though the double page splash was amazing I've really enjoyed the last two issues of Mark Millar's Superior, now this has good pacing, great art and a story that's got me hooked

Getting into Comics and the legitimacy of digital/ipod versions
gmac replied to flameboy's topic in General Chit Chat
the new DC comics are all released the same day on digital that they are in stores for the same price (mostly $2.99), plus I think they go down in price by $1 after 1 month of release, which most of the issue ones will be for now. I've not read many comics on the apps as I don't really like doing it on my pc or phone, but they're apparently quite good on tablets. Comixology do regular sales where they do $0.99 issues (e.g. every Monday Marvel have a sale on certain storylines or characters issues) -
so the first episode of the 2nd Season started last night in the States anyone else watched it yet?
-
if you're enjoying the current Batwoman book, you should try and read the Trade called Batwoman : Elegy, it's drawn by the same artist and it immediately precedes the current storyline
-
Punisher, Captain America and Daredevil have all had recent restarts as well, don't think any of them have got past issue 4 yet, plus can't really go wrong with Rucka, Brubaker and Waid writing them

as far as I can find out Arcade mode is just the campaign without cut scenes
-
I picked mine up, but need to wait for my brother to come home so we can play the campaign together like we have for the previous 2!

I read both, I got Grifter as I like the writer's (Nathan Edmondson) creator owned stuff at Image, granted the story didn't explain anything about the character and wasn't a great standalone issue I'm prepared to give it another issue before deciding on it. Suicide Squad was pretty good, I was apprehensive after Secret Six got dropped, but I thought the first issue was pretty decent, gave a introduction to all the characters and set us up for the next issue, it did suffer a bit from having several artists, but that should be solved for issue #2 (hopefully)

I really enjoyed the DC books this week, only ones I ended up not getting were Deathstroke and Mr Terrific. Resurrection Man was the surprise of the week for me, really good writing and art, plus i really like the concept as well, hadn't heard of the character before the relaunch. Frankentein was a nice start to a team book, written by Jeff Lemire, who is also doing Animal Man, it's a completely different book to that. The whole broken family idea between his 'father' and wife was well done, and I'm looking forward to the next issue Demon Knights - Paul Cornell steps up to the plate again and provides another great issue from this relaunch, I do like the Etrigan concept and it will be interesting to see Vandal Savage in a different role than I'm used to in the DCU I won't bother going through the rest of the DCnU except to say I enjoyed reading them all, agree a bit with previous comments regarding Batman & Robin though, but I'm prepared to give Tomassi and Gleason time with this book as they were great on Green Lantern Corps I don't know how many of you guys read Ed Brubaker's creator owned stuff, but if you don't read Criminal you really are missing out. This week we had the end of the current 4 issue mini and yet again Brubaker has provided a great Crime Noir story, ably assisted by the wonderful art of Sean Phillips, who goes between a gritty style for today and an Archie style for flashbacks to the characters youth. another indie gem you may not have heard of but I'm really enjoying is Gladstone's School for World Conquerors. The basic concept is that the kids of Super-Villains go to this school to learn how to be better villains, and superhero vs villain fights are regularly televised. However unbeknownst to the kids the fights are all pre-arranged and the heroes always win due to a pact made to keep the peace. It's a fun book with interesting characters and I highly recommend it

At least Robbie Savage has personality!
-
You can't be serious about Shearer, he's the worst analyst ever
-
there's also Flash in Crisis on Infinite Earths
-
I think he's due back after the Cory Walker issues, he's followed Capullo to Batman as well though
-
this weeks DC releases are and I'll end up picking up at least half of those probably I'm not in for Detective Comics either, didn't read Daniels Batman run and there's plenty of good writers on the other Bat books so my money goes there Happenstance was too fast for me!

Batman and Wonder Woman aren't out this week, they're due on the 21st
-
I still read Haunt, think it's been a really good book (I've enjoyed it at least) only problem is the standard Kirkman/McFarlane delays with it Hopefully the new creative team can get it back on time.

whilst the penalty decision was laughable (I don't think either were penalties) a draw was a fair result on overall play. Plus the Czech's should have had a penalty in the first half. Apart from a 10-15 minute spell Scotland hardly played any football, there were too many passengers today. Charlie Adam and Steven Naismith were woeful, not sure why Danny Wilson was brought on. Hutton's crossing was wasteful and his defending wasn't great either. Only Fletcher and Brown stood out for me today.

if anyone is interested in reading the original Action Comics #1 you can here

yeah was a really good issue, plus good news from the letters page was that they're going to try and catch up on the solicits before the end of the year, which will hopefully mean at least 6 issues in the next 4 months Obviously with Cory on two of them it makes it easier to do that, but I said the same last year when he did a couple issues
