  1. Exactly, thus the genius and the joy behind the games. Plus the characters say things in silly ways and there are continual in-jokes about how they're risking death, yet they're made out of plastic and technically immortal... Basically, it makes you feel like a kid again, while still allowing you to feel somewhat grown up. And I pray that a Lego: Harry Potter DOESN'T happen. It would ruin the Lego franchise.
  2. Damn this would be sweet. So totally cooler than star wars. Now all we need is a Lego Back to the Future.
  3. Well, despite loathing the dubs, I went and looked, and apparently they do have the Rasengan... well the 2nd stage anyway, at the moment. And although I have never and doubtful ever will play a Naruto game, this one doesn't look too bad.
  4. There's a current standing continuity in the Batman comics? That's the main thing I hate about most comics, Batman in particular. Every time a new story writer comes along (or less, where the writer just thinks there's been a big enough gap in the readers minds) they come along and change everything. So much so that in order to make even any kind of sense of what's going on they have to split it all up into different 'imaginings' of the franchise. And isn't the whole point about the killer of Batman's parents that it's whoever is the most deadly enemy at the time. Every new film, every new story arc something happens and it turns out that it was ultimately someone else at fault. That was the best part about the movies, that they were obviously talking out of their arse and yet took it seriously. As for the actual topic, I think Ledger could pull it off... could. Not necessarily gonna say that he will. And apparently he was picked because they were looking for someone who hasn't done an evil character before, which is why Bettany wasn't picked. Which confuses me. If you're making a blockbuster film and you're looking for a lead bad buy, would you choose the one who you know will make the character his own and make it a success, or choose the one who might? It's a very interesting decision to choose someone who has no experience in that role.
  5. What I meant by that was 'don't expect SONY to pull out of the games market after PS3', as many people seem to be thinking/hoping for. There will almost certainly be a PS4, maybe a PS5 as well. And both of them will have to consistently do as badly as the PS3 is doing now for SONY to give up on games.
  6. Cooler name? Way cool on the sales as well. PS3 is plummeting, but don't be jumping for joy yet. They've still got a huge user base to build on - the PS2 outselling the 360 since the 360's launch should tell you that!
  7. Cube: That's it exactly. Although one half of the picture is missing, but I can live with that. Emasher: If I do try and bring it back, I'll have to see if Bungie are doing a similar sort of thing for Halo 3 and then maybe do a similar sort of thing for Metroid. As for web designers, while I may not be one myself, I am on a computer science course at uni - I'm sure there's plenty around me! Does anyone know if this was an official marketing thing, a fan taking it upon himself, or something the developers did for a laugh? I'm kinda curious about that in general.
  8. The only Tomb Raider I've ever played was Cronicles, and that was... well... crap. So I don't have the highest hopes for this. But I suppose it could only get better, right? And as to higher Eidos support, and therefore a Hitman game on Wii, I figure that if Manhunt 2 works one Wii (i.e. the control system is actually decent, rather than tacked on like I'm worried it will be) we'll see a slew of similar games available soon, and Hitman will be one of them.
  9. I said it before and I'll say it again: Konami said they'd use WiiConnect24 with this game. We can send levels and such to our friends on this, and Konami said they'd send news ones to us. Is there any truth to this? Has Konami confirmed it? Obviously they haven't actually sent a new level or you'd all be raving about that, but has it at least been confirmed?
  10. I very much doubt that Nintendo are bothering to make any more Wavebirds, what with the Wii being understocked and all. They can make far more money diverting all their factories to Wii products than they can by keeping one producing Wavebirds. So it looks like eBay shall be our only option in future. Just pick your trades wisely.
  11. I created a new thread because it seemed vaguely sensible, if not, then mods: please feel free to merge with current Metroid Prime thread. I figured as this had little to do with the actual game, it could count a separate thread. Ok, for some reason I was forcibly reminded of the old adverts for Metroid about an hour ago. For those who don't know, ILoveBees was a very cleverly constructed advert for Halo 2, including a very convoluted puzzle game, several different blogs and required incredibly lucky guesses (or a team of at least 4 geniuses working for you) to solve. The ultimate reward was a couple of sneak previews of Halo 2 and a couple of DVDs, t-shirts, etc. Anyway, Nintendo (or possibly a fan, I don't think it was ever announced as unofficial) as part of the run up to Metroid Prime (or 2, I don't remember) lauched a huge swath of websites that rhymed with ilovebees.com, such as iloveknees.com, ilovesneeze, com etc. On each of these websites was a picture of Samus and some text. And it is this text that I am unsure about. I remember the text as something like "All Your Base Are Belong To Us. Never Send A Man To Do A Woman's Job." but I'd like to know what it as actually like. I've tried to get onto a few websites that rhymes with ilovebees, but apparently they no longer exist (whereas ilovebees does). Any help would be appreciated. P.S. I was originally hoping to use the websites as part of a prank on a 360 fanboy friend of mine (all in good fun course), but now am considering relaunching the websites in opposition to the Halo 3 launch coming soon. Or, if Bungie has thought of a similar advert to ilovebees, maybe a similar reply? Edit: Gah! I read through the actual post, but not the title! I cannot believe I misspelt Metroid! If a mod could please correct (as I apparently cannot) it would be much appreciated!
  12. I'm curious. I read on Wiki that it's been confirmed that Konami will be sending new levels along through WiiConnect24. But I don't think it's happened yet. Hasn't this been out in the US and Japan for a while? Is there some other confirmation or announcement? I'm certainly considering picking this up, but if this is true I'll be getting this sooner rather than later.
  13. Yeah, but those conferences are less likely to be as 'big' as they were before. Now there isn't one 'central' expo for all the major things to happen on, announcements and such will be spread throughout the year, and so the conferences get less 'exclusive' news and more propaganda. It means Nintendo's conferences will turn into the SONY ones. Previously: Nintendo: We're great - see how now! Microsoft: We're great - we can buy out loads of games companies and make them produce great games! SONY: We're great - because we, erm, said so. Now: Nintendo: We're great, but we're saving all our decent stuff for later in the year, so you'll just have to take our word for it! Microsoft: We're great - we can buy out loads of games companies and make them produce great games! SONY: We're great - because we, erm, said so. Of course, if the conferences are still a hugely enjoyable fiasco, then I shall be proven wrong.
  14. Well, to me at least, that guarantee's that we get Metroid Prime 3 this year. We always get it before Japan (they don't seem to be keen on FPS') so it's looking good. the others have all been pencilled in for 2007 for a while though, so there's not really much change.
  15. Well, it's good to be corrected I suppose. But my lack of knowledge wasn't in th area of the capability of the GameCube controller, more in the compatability - i.e. would it work? Now that I know it does, I doubt very much that I'll be spending money on a classic console. 'Real' retro gaming doesn't appeal to me much (having already played most of the games I'm interested in), so no classic controller really needed. And the N64 game's I'd consider buying I already own on the N64, so I'm not too fussed about it, really.
  16. Grrr. I had to leave my Wii at home when I came back to uni (didn't want to sabotage my exam revision). Now I'm chomping at the bit to get home! I'd just got onto the last bit as well! I was in the Twilight! Grr! Once you've 'completed' the game, I'm assuming you can still get back on it and do things like get the heart pieces, bugs and cave of ordeals, right? Or should I exit the Twilight, do all that, and then go back and finish it?
  17. The PS2's weren't available because SONY deliberately held back in Europe - within 3 months they were everywhere. You only had a problem if you wanted one at launch. And I'm gonna say this for the last time. Game advertise rip-off bundles. You are not forced to purchase a console from them in rip off bundles. Merely say "I'd like to buy a Wii please". They will then say "Which bundle are you choosing?" You should then reply "No bundle please. Just the Wii." They cannot legally force you to buy more than you want. End of story.
  18. Ok, having not used the classic controller yet, and indeed, have yet to download a game from the virtual console, I'm assuming that the Gamecube controller can be used with all the vitrual console games. I have not seen anything that refutes this. So, on that evidence, I'm gonna put this bluntly: Anyone who spends £18 on a Classic controller when they could spend £4 on a Gamecube one is an idiot who deserves to have their thumbs bash together when they use it. There, I said it. Feel free to flame. And if I'm wrong, please correct me. Nicely.
  19. E3 the was one moment a year when I would allow my inner geek to shine through: skive whatever I was supposed to be doing that day, lock myself away in a room, and watch the streamed videos of the conferences. Now I can't do that any more, my inner geek will have to be released in other ways... probably ways far more painful and embarrassing to me.
  20. Erm, as much as I'd like to think Nintendo would spend the money on more games, I have the strangest idea that they'll what every other business will do - give the money to their stock holders... Although, you can see that they have put a lot more money into R+D, advertising and all the other stuff they do - they made 150% more than last year, and then put half of that back into the company. So, if each department gets the money spread evenly, then the average budget goes up by around 30%, from doing the maths in my head. Which means they are putting money into the games!
  21. Hehe, Colbert No. 1! I hope Miamoto stays second. Despite the fact that the top 20 are there for pretty much a joke. Let's face it, an internet poll was never going to get the true top 100 people. Especially because most of those are unknown managers and executives of the IMF and World Bank (who hold far more power than any political leader, bar none).
  22. What's the point of modding? Surely it's inevitable that another Freeloader or similar will be produced? Or is that system not possible with the Wii right now?
  23. I did the same thing I do with my computer when it crashes - hold the power button until it turns off. Slightly safer than just removing all the power, as it gives the fans a chance to slow themselves down without damaging the motor. Well, at least that was how it was explained to me. But holding down the power button should work.
  24. I'm sorry, but these are either atrocious scans, or very bad graphics. The blue guy in the left picture spells that out. It looks like a bad guy from Metroid Prime: Hunters with slightly better textures. In short: definitely not living up to the potential of something with twice the power of the Gamecube. I'm not gonna buy it simply because my experiences of Crash haven't been great, but those graphics certainly do not encourage me. Combined with my previous experience, and I'm staying clear. From everything I can tell, Crash was popular because is was a fairly decent platformer on a console severely lacking in decent platformers - same with Spyro. Since Spyro's gone multi format, the games have technically improved, but it's less popular - I think because there were other decent platformers available on the format. Although I welcome what used to be SONY's 'mascot' on the Wii, I doubt it will do well, simply because we have Mario to look forward to. Most people only buy a few games - the 'big' games, or one of each type. Most of those who own a Wii will be looking forward to Mario and either cannot afford/do not want another platformer.
  25. Well, if those are DS scans I'm seeing, then it's not too bad at all. If those are supposed to be for the Wii, then I want whoever made them burned. I never found Crash interesting at all, the 10mins I played around a friends house were boring and far too easy. Apparently I was playing on the second last level or something... certainly didn't feel like it. The best way to describe it is like playing Mario with the graphics dulled to the point of boredom, and the puzzles spelled out for you, like a normal 64 piece jigsaw has been reduced to a 4 piece.
