  1. Best thing I've seen this year.
  2. Where did they say that?
  3. "It was the first joint mission I'd been apart of since becoming a freelance bounty hunter. And of course, it was the first time since my federation days that I found myself taking orders from a commanding officer." The original point still stands. Hired or not, she still says it was her first joint mission with the GF since leaving. Like you said, In Metroid and RoS, she was simply given jobs to do by the GF. Corruption has her actually working for, taking orders from and battling along side them at the end. There would be so many things in the main story that wouldn't make sense if the Prime games were part of it. Ridley, Un-freezable Metroids, Extinction of the Metroids and Space Pirates. Sakamoto said that he knows the Prime games were meant to take place in between I & II. I just don't think he includes them within *his* story.
  4. I wasn't very clear. I know they are suppose to take place between II & Super, but as far as the main series goes, they are non existant. And when I said another universe, I just meant that it exists within itself. It's its own series. This is the (recent) official retrospective of the main series. There is no acknowledgement of the Prime events/games. 3 games in the main series came out before Prime, 1 came out at the same time and 2 came out after. None of the latter three have any mention to Prime either. Plus, Samus says in Other M that it was her first time working with the Galactic Federation since becoming a freelance bounty hunter. So going by this, all that stuff with her working with the GF in Corruption never happened.
  5. Prime games = Not canon with the main series. It's a universe that exists within it's own. Sure, Prime makes references to events of the first game, but as far as the main series goes, the events of Prime never happened. Main series: Metroid (Zero Mission) Metroid II: Return of Samus Super Metroid Metroid: Other M Metroid Fusion Samus has battled the real Ridley twice (ZM & Super), a clone (Other M) and then an X mimicking him (Fusion). Man I envy you, playing it for the first time. You're gonna love the epilogue I just completed it again too. Those credits are something else, man. The music, the imagery. It's beautiful.
  6. I started a new game of Paper Mario: TTYD, but stopped playing that after a while. Then I bought Smash Bros Brawl but I got pretty bored of that after an hour. Now I'm playing Metroid: Other M for the third time cuz I love it so. I'll probably start a new Zelda: TP file tonight.
  7. Do you really think Sakamoto had come up with Samus' history with Ridley way back then? I don't think anybody really gave a crap about the story. As far as we and probably Sakamoto cared, Ridley was nothing more than the leader of the Space Pirates. *I* like to believe she simply defeated Ridley in Metroid (ZM), not killed off completely. Going by Zero Mission, she killed Kraid too, right? Yet he somehow managed to return in Super. While making ZM, Sakamoto already knew that Ridley and Kraid would return in the future, yet had them both explode. This is one of the things I wish he portrayed differently in ZM, among other things, but it makes sense if the player just believes he was defeated rather than destroyed. That is, unless he comes up with some explanation in a future installment. I've always thought there were more problems with ZMs story than I do with Other M, yet for some reason people seemed to have looked over them. Again, where did you get this idea that Samus is a cold and merciless person? It's just the idea that you and many others seem to have made up in your head based on what, a few lines of dialogue in ZM, Super and Fusion? Remember when she saved the Etecoons and Dachoras at the end of Super? Or in Fusion? Remember when she spared the baby Metroids life at the end of RoS despite being ordered to eliminate them all? Remember when she simply disarmed the Ion-Faerias after, again, being ordered to kill them in the manga? What a cold blooded bitch. And why do you think the infusion with Chozo DNA would change her personality? It wasn't a brain transplant. It's main purpous was to ensure her survival while living on Zebes. Yeah, I think the scene itself is great, it just wouldn't make sense to a lot of players. Unless you've read the manga, you have no idea what the beef is between Samus & Ridley. A cutscene showing the invasion of K2-L is definately something they should have included. Personally, I think it would have been better addressed in Zero Mission, but since it wasn't, this would have been the next best choice. No go, though. When you look at it as a whole and how it's tied with the rest of the series, Metroid: Other M really doesn't have that bad a story. There are just some little things that definately could have been addressed/improved. IMO.
  8. I think it was more to do with the shock of seeing him again after finally killing him in Super. Her life long nemesis, who destroyed her home and killed her parents, just suddenly re-appearing when she thought he no longer existed? That's bound to mess her up. Also, nope, he wasn't in II. Amazon has it for the same price
  9. That's why this game was made. So everyone would have one universal understanding of the character. Too bad it wasn't how you imagined (based on what, I don't know).
  10. I'm surprised we haven't heard more about the VC.
  11. I'm skeptical about the D-Pad. I can't imagine using it for more than 10 minutes without getting cramp. I'm sure it will be fine though. If there is one thing Nintendo can do though, it's having comfortable controls.
  12. I'd rather see something new.
  13. I think it was around that point during players first run that they really started to get into it , including myself. You start to get all of these power ups that actually make you feel like you are getting more powerful and you're able to start blasting your way through the game at a much faster pace. Glad you're enjoying it.

  15. I just noticed that it's Metroids 25th anniversary this year. Zelda too. Wouldn't it be awesome to get a box set, ala Mario 25th, of the first 3 games, maybe even Fusion? Maybe even release it on the 3DS and then finally, portable Super Metroid. It's very doubtful though. The only thing I can see them doing (if anything) is a Metroid II re-release on the 3DS virtual console. That game turns 20 this year, too.
  16. seriously the fuck is wrong with you

  18. Not just max brightness, I'm reading that it's 5 hours TOPS. It's not just the battery. I decided to wait it out as soon as it was revealed at E3. Even then they said that it wasn't the final design, and when the final product was shown off a few months later, all that had changed was the slider colour. It's clear that a redesign isn't far off. It just seems pretty bulky to me. And now seeing the battery life and the awful launch line up (I can't see the USA/European line up being any different) is even more of a reason. Plus, I want a purple one to surface. Maybe the shitty battery is good though in regards to giving your eyes a break every so often.
  19. 3-5 hours battery? Yup, that settles it. I'm definately waiting out for the redesign.
  20. nintendo wii: because you want to play it 25th aniversary
