Well, if you see her...hide, fapp away, get a handful and give her the good old spiderman.

I like mechanisms. Hit me...I might even be able to suggest something feasible :p

A level maths is shite because it just tells you exactly what to do when. So prescriptive. I'm really struggling with the maths part of my course atm because A level really doesn't set you up that well...
-
Yeah, basically you use a Nickel catalyst in an atmosphere of hydrogen to hydrogenate the alkene. 450K and 1MPa if silly A levels conditions knowledge serves me correctly.

I didn't like the ref in that game at all...he also did nothing to enforce the new scrummaging rules. The reffing in that area has to be consistent (whichever "rules" apply I don't actually mind...)...it was just the complete opposite to the england-scotland ref. Scotland really need a spark in their midfield. They have a large number of quality SHs but Dan Parks at FH and their centres could do with a bit of fortification (Henderson's not bad, Di Rollo has the dropsies). Their back three are world class...if they can sort out the midfield and their conditioning (so they play for 80 minutes, not 60) and get their captain back, they'll be a considerable force for years to come.

Italy are inconsistent but they've shown flashes of brilliance at times. Plus they're one of the most physical teams in the world, you should never forget that. Great performance by England although there are bits which need polishing...I was pretty happy though. Very surprised by the Runny Little Turd aka Harry Ellis who had his first game where he actually justified his selection at 9. Still...I'll need more evidence before I accept him. Plus remember that the Scottish back row were pretty depleted (without Jason White and Ali Hogg only just back from injury) which certainly relieved pressure on our half backs. Maybe we could do with some more midfield creativity...I'd like to see Tait at inside, he seems too small for an outside centre tbh. Farrell was ok, nothing special though, I think it's still a bit limted pairing him with Route One Tindall. Oh, and Jonny...i wouldn't have picked him. Congratulations for proving me wrong. I still think that the story would have been much more unhappy had Jason White been around though. Wales - Ireland was a good one too. Shame Wales couldn't capitalise on chances but it was nice to see a good, disciplined game (shame the ref was absolutely wank). James Hook looks very promising...and if Stephen Jones has a better game then the Welsh half-back - midfield will be very dangerous indeed. Still, credit to the Irish, looks like their tight 5 manhandled the welsh a bit.

Does anyone here seriously follow a football team
Problematique replied to Ant-Shimmin's topic in General Chit Chat
I disagree, rugby players are paid modest salaries for sportsmen (although more than those poor cricketers). The Premiership has a salary cap which prevents players being horribly overpaid...and clubs which do tend to lose out because of depth issues (see Northampton for example...). I wish there were some sort of salary cap imposed on football because it's just getting stupid...and there are so few surprises at the top. In capped sports like rugby and american football there's a lot of change at the top (with some exceptions - see Leicester Cheaters in rugby and the New England Patriots in football). -
Highly unlikely that the Bears will put up 35 points. Highly unlikely the Colts will too against the Bears D. Also...the rugby vs american football toughness debate is stupid because both of them are at the same level of physicality, just in different ways...rugby is attritional whilst football is more explosive so it's hard to make a proper comparison. I've taken a lot hits in rugby before (the last proper hit I made was on a 14st outside centre. Took him down but I was incredibly groggy for a minute or two...) and I think it would be the same taking a hit in football. But whatever, I love both sports. I prefer rugby as a sport because it flows much better plus I prefer the fact that you have to be competent on both sides of the ball in rugby. But I enjoy American football for the precision of executing plays etc. Not only that but as a Northampton Saints/Denver Broncos supporter I have much more to cheer about in the NFL than I do in rugby But I don't really care who wins this one really. As much as I want Peytato-head to lose...if he does there'll be even more rules next year to help them win the SB. So. I'm not sure. I find the Bears an inoffensive team though...that said the AFC is a much stronger conference and deserves the SB.

Make sure it's easy on the tini.

Oh, it's physics so it does't really matter whether it's molecular or not...it's all arbitrary. Thanks very much, you're a diamond.

I'm doing Physics for chemistry. Hooray. i didn't do Physics at A level. Shit. Basically... "The C60 molecule is a sphere of diameter 1nm (10^-9m) with an ionisation energy of 7.5eV. Find the energy of photons which could eject electrons from C60 with a wavelength which would match the molecular size." I'm quite stuck because I'm not quite sure how to bend lambda = h/p. And the lambda = h/sqrt (2mk) doesn't help either. Stupid physics (sorry Chris! But I did do history instead which shows how badly I got on with the subject...)

Hmm. I checked Huheey/Keiter and Atkins. Nowt there....sorry. Surely there should be an obscure book in the library...

OK: boiling point elevation. I'm meant to show that the approximate expression for this is Delta T ~ xRT^2 / Delta Hvap Little help?

Chips, cheese and chicken meat for me with ketchup and self added worcester sauce :p although the cheese is sliiightly dodgy. Oh well. I'm currently doing first order linear diffeqs. Not too hard. I have quantum theory coming up though which will be a bitch (I didn't do A Level physics...)

Exeter So I take it I could well see you outside Hassan's :p my room is pretty much opposite the White Horse, second from last floor up. Nice view. Very noisy (especially with drunk people doing sprint races down the Broad)

Hmm. Well. I know where I'm trying to get to...I jsut need to get more used to recognising how to get there. I've just about sussed out the fundamental equations and Maxwell''s relations. But I get easily confused (you know, three different types of d and two deltas :p). I'm starting my tute work in the next couple of days, I'll detail the stuff then. I'm using E Brian Smith - Basic Chemical Thermo. It's pretty decent actually although it does take shortcuts in derivations (which leaves me utterly confused because my maths is barely competent...the barely bit only added in because I wasn't last in my collections :p). But whatever, it's 1,000,000 times better than Atkins. The knobber. Which college are you in out of interest?
-
Y'see, so can I but er, well...I can do that. Which is the problem because I can't do much else and I have prelims in two terms...i get kicked out if I fail But we're doing a large chunk of it and my maths is too crap to actually be able to derive everything. Which I need to do. Hmm.
-
Right. Who's got a good grasp of classical thermodynamics? Because I need someone to throw me a fucking bone here.

Are there any other university chemists on here? I think I have much to discuss :p

I've always called it an amine...it can also be called amino but most people call it an amine. I think. -

Did some organic tute work on carbonyls. Did some differential equations. Went to labs. -
I love my bass, it's a 1995 Pedulla Rapture. Mmm. £500 on ebay too, bargain. Me playing in my college bar.
