  1. Ok, it seems my question before was slightly ignored or unnoticed. But I'm going to ask again, weren't the forums like this before, and did they not work then?. Cos I'm sure I remember a similar time, and I'm sure it worked. People, please stop quoting or talking about this ominous, hard to find, hard to navigate, hard to venture to PAGE 2 OF DOOOM. Jesus fucking christ, yes, more threads mean more pages need looking at. Maybe if you're ending up on page 3 or 4 I'd take the point, but page 2? Don't be so lazy. I KNOW when it was active when I was around and active, I often HAD TO GO TO PAGE 2, and you know what? IT WASN'T REALLY THAT HARD. Also I think a good thing about the threads are, more threads equals more oppurtunities to post, and more forum activity. Or at least more posts. In different threads, exposed to different people. It's like a hedging of bets, a parallel processiing, a parallel threading maybe! Assume(extreme example) you have 10 music related threads, you post in 3 and have made 3 posts. You post in one big one, and it's just one post, and it's more likely to be glossed over because someone doesn't venture into 'generic music thread a' to read your three points. When spread between so many threads it works more imo. Also, sometimes seeing who posted last in a thread also makes me click it. I'm sure that isn't just me.
  2. If you used to be a swimming teacher, what are you now? I totally agree people you work with can make or break a job too. It's one of the reasons I'm working less lately, actually.
  3. Aww, leave the poor lad alone, he's very easily excitable, and gets distracted quickly when he sees something he likes :p (though seriously, don't make a habit of not reading threads)
  4. See ReZ, get a new ideas man and you might actually be funnier!
  5. Are Aniseed and Liquorice the same? Some people tasted it and called it liquorice, and medicinal, I denied both, cos I definitely don't really like Liquorice.
  6. I know!! I never found it in Asda, but recently found some in Sainsburys for like 67p a bottle, my dad drank the last of it though and I haven't been back for more yet Alot of people I've asked also mentioned them having it at McDonalds a long time ago, they don't know why they stopped doing it. If you had to describe the taste, how would you? I need a good way to describe it to my friends. I totally had a crazy IrnBru phase once, was loving it with everything! It was good alone, but it went well with nearly every spirit I tried to mix it with!
  7. Does indeed sound quite interesting! For some freakish reason I'm really fascinated by stats, would love to get some research experience at some point! I've found it hard to find the jobs though, though admittedly I've been sticking to psychological fields in my lookings, I don't really know where else to look :/
  8. Amazing. Totally pimping this on facebook. All else it really needs is Guile's Theme
  9. Why are there only two options? I'm not sure if I enjoy my job. I think maybe I do? Or sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. I don't see me wanting to do it forever, so I guess I don't?
  10. Right. I see alot of old schoolers posting, and I don't know if I'm mistaken in my memory or what, so someone tell me if I'm right. Wasn't it like this circa mid-late 2006 and continuing? I'm pretty sure there were tons more threads when I first joined. The only 'big' thread then was the MPOTD, and that was easily ignorable. Lots of other threads for lots of discussion. Stupid/Unneccessary/Dupe threads got locked/deleted etc as the mods did their job. It worked fine? Pooki, I get where you're coming from. This IS a forum born out of a Nintendo based aim. I joined after having read the news pages forever, and as I could not contain my excitement for the Wii, I used to post a fair bit in Wii discussion and other bits of the gaming forums. General Chit Chat however, was something that really got me, and I didn't expect when I joined the forums. It was nice because I got to see the 'general' side of people with whom I'd talk games and have heated debates in the Games forums etc. It was amazing too, cos it was just so friendly, and such a nice community. Two years later, 2008, the forumers of General had their first meetup and they've grown since, and I always find them totally awesome. I don't think I have a point, I just wanted to say that. I guess also if Gen Chit Chat hadn't been so nice, I'd not have stuck around forumwise. I don't go in much of the Gaming forums anymore(and I fell off Gen Chit Chat, when I was first here I threw myself proper into the forums and was quite the eager beaver). Now though, I'm getting older and busier, less time for games, less time for forums. Less time in particular, for trawling big threads. Having a few pages with summary titles is much easier. Also I don't go in Gaming because tbh, nothing's quite as interesting as it used to be. When the Wii came out, it was revolutionary, now things have dried up a bit, but that's a dicussion for there, not here.
  11. Fruit Twist is the only Fanta tbh, I don't understand how anyone can not like it/prefer the others over it. Zesty Berry was abhorrent, and Lemon was ok, Orange is the close favourite to match Fruit Twist, but it doesn't quite cut it. Still bloody delicious though. American fantas are shit. Anyway, here's a question I'd long been wondering, who has had/likes Root Beer? I have literally spent like all my life(read last 3-5 years, casually) looking for it over here, and I think I finally found it recently! I was happy days.
  12. Seeing as how we're totally complaining about stuff that isn't really to do with this, I'd like to chip in a request for more daily allowances of thanksings, otherwise I'm gonna go on a NO THANKING RIOT. I'm f*cking serious, too.
  13. I've proper become a hat wanker lately, I shall maybe post me some pictures a little later on.
  14. Classifieds? I don't really think it's all that new a phenomenon, just the internet really makes any and all kind of social interaction easier/lazier now. It's taking over our lives man! (i have actually recently been touting the evils of the internets and facebook iphones etc to people but they don't believe anything i say )
  15. I totally did not see that, I'm a massive spaz, thanks. I'm also a little suprised there isn't some silly dub remix or five of this on the internets somewhere. It's really an amazing tune, and I cannae get it out of my head recently!
  16. Seriously man, stop mentioning this 'proper version' without telling me where to get it!
  17. So apparently you actually are a real person who posts on the forums, I now feel bad and apologise for my earlier insinuations that you may not be. How, praytell, was one's birthday?
  18. Eventually we might have the problem of overactivity, too many threads popping up and the paradigm shifting back to the old. But here's the thing. You just watched say...The Godfather, or one of its sequels, you post in the movie thread but half the forumers don't see it or discuss it because they do not go in that thread. You post a thread on General instead, entitled 'Godfather', people see it and more than average discussion ensues, as well as following tangent conversations about the mafia, crime, history and organisation etcetc, inspires someone to maybe make a NEW thread on crime or something, more activity henceforth. Maybe.
  19. Godammit I can't thank anything! But yeah, like alot of others, I saw all this aaaaaaaages ago. I liked it, if thinking it a little too much and over the top at times. Also knew it was filmed in Thamesmead, and liked that fact muchly.
  20. It works in theory, but not in practice. War never does.
  21. What changed your mind to make the decision?
  22. Truefacs, I totally already said this first. Well, basically just the first sentence of that post, the rest I think I kind of agree with? I'm not sure. I DO think N-E has changed somewhat since I was first aroudn, and possibly it's why I'm around less now. Big ol' threads, less time on my hands, I can't really 'jump in' like I can when I see a specific thread title what catches my interest. I used to post and kind of follow Meaningless Post of the Day/whatever, and when it closed I was kind of not really bothered. Then HWYD appeared and basically just did what it used to do, that was silly! As I see the forums continue after this decision, I find myself agreeing with it more and more. Except the UIG decision. UIG is in itself rather limited in its criteria, and the sort of thread that does not take place anywhere else, really. How active was that thread, compared to all the other big ones? Nobody needs activity to keep a thread alive when you've got narcissism fuelling it!
  23. I work with the psychiatrically unwell as a healthcare assistant. On an unrelated facet, I have a BSc in Psychology that isn't really getting me anywhere. I'd like to try my hand in some stats and research with what I've learnt in my degree, whether psych related or not. I'm not very politically correct when I talk about the job I do, or many things, so forgive me if I offend. I do my job well though despite my gripes, as I think personal care is a very important thing to be taken seriously and I try to keep the patients/clients/service users as happy as I can within my remit, and sometimes beyond it. I work on what they call the 'bank', only it's a 'bank' for nurses and not for money, and so I cover shifts as and when needed without being contracted to any hours, so I can take work or leave it as I see fit, the only potential downside being that nobody is obliged to provide me with shifts. I applied for a permanent job with criminals/in forensic, which I have never done before. I have an interview next monday. I can work anywhere with Oxeleas/NHS psychiatric healthcare for most of the southeast(bexley bromley greenwich boroughs) landan. I basically choose to work in two places only. One is right next to my house. I started working there occasionally towards the end of last year. It is psych rehab. The other is about 20-30minutes away on a bus, and where I've mainly worked(read as one shift a week or so) for the last 4 years. My mum works on that ward too. It is acute inpatients, and a bit crazy at times. A man who works at the former place used to work on the same unit, until a patient bit his ear off. I don't think that was very fun for him. I guess I like my job, but I also hate it. This post was long.
  24. Jassssoooooooonnnnnn Deeerrruuuuuuuuuuulllooooooooooooooooooo!
