Happenstance

Back from my crappy weekend. Started off nice enough but by Saturday afternoon I was already getting moaned at and called "an opinionated git" by my dad. Also, apparently because I said "its a town centre on a Saturday" when he was complaining about the traffic im somehow overly negative and hurting him! Its just really weird, I think he must have this opinion that im a negative person so will ignore anything else I say and fixate on some slightly negative comment. We went to a football match yesterday, he asked me quite a few times if I was enjoying it and I answered yes all the time because I actually was. Later I mention how the bar at the ground could have used some more chairs as a lot of people were standing and I get an earfull :S Its something my sister and I discuss a lot, we basically have to walk on eggshells around him to avoid a pointless argument but because Im not gonna drag my sister into this and make it uncomfortable for her as well, I cant tell him that im not the only one who has these problems with him. Anyway, it was a very uncomfortable morning and drive back today and im glad to be home!

I really don't know why I bother with my dad. I'm away with him for the weekend and all he does is talk crap at me or lecture me. He did it once on my 21st birthday, ruining the entire thing. I'm just so sick of this, I think this might be it between me and him now. An example.of his arseholeness. Some of you might remember I told you I have a problem in cars, I get very uncomfortable. My dad knows this so finds it funny to try and make it worse, driving very close to the car infront or just accelerating quickly.

I don't know the issue numbers but I do know they were in the short lived Volume 2 of Asm and are it the trade "Coming Home"

Off to spend the weekend with my dad in a bit. Should be nice to see him again as its been a few months but as we dont have a lot in common we tend to run out of things to say or do quite quickly. Ive made a point of not talking to him this week so ive got more to say later!

I havent gotten too far into it, at the moment im on the level where you first get the fire trees

Ah right. Well I read some of that Wonder Woman relaunch for One Year Later and it was ok, it went back to her being a secret agent for a while and I think Donna Troy was Wonder Woman at the start.

Is the Jimenez run the one that started in the One Year Later branding after Infinite Crisis?

Yeah that is what theyve said. Not an approach im a massive fan of to be honest.

I assume with Supermans new suit they'll have to change the fact that he wears it under his normal clothes, wouldnt really work anymore.

Something I was thinking earlier while reading Justice League #1 and meant to ask. Would you have prefered this DC relaunch to be a proper reboot and properly start again 5 years ago where we find them in JL #1 or how its being done at the moment with most of the other books carrying on in present day DC with quite a few of the old stories having had happened? Personally, even though I have a big attachment to the previous DCU I would like to have seen this as a full reboot where we could meet characters again for the first time and tell different stories with them.

I'll be reading the first issue of Wonder Woman but probably wont carry on, just not a character ive ever found interesting unless shes with other heroes. I guess we'll see though, maybe the first issue will really draw me in. Anyway, this needs posting. Maybe it'll happen again some point in the DCnU!

Just re-reading Flashpoint from the beginning. I still dont particularly like it as a story but now I know the whole story im noticing more which is something I always like. Its great when you can go back and read something again and you notice all the hidden extras.

Well I only really buy trades as you guys know so a site with a empty graphic novel section is pretty much no good to me. Anyway as I said, I'm happy enough with Reed. They have a good selection and I can get stuff from them when its not on Amazon.

I'll be sticking with Reed, I know what im getting there. Plus I think that Disposable Heroes site is terrible, doesnt seem to be updated properly.

I know a lot of people like All Star Superman Daft so its very possible you will. I dont but its not because Morrison wrote it, im just not a fan of silver age style stories.

I think Marvel are probably better than DC when it comes to event tie ins but it also does seem more of a recent thing for DC. You didn't need to read anything with the first Crisis or Infinite Crisis, I don't think Identity had any either. Final Crisis has been the worst one, if you didn't read the Superman tie in then you had no idea who this new big villain was that just turned up out of nowhere.

I hear if you twist it back the other way it fixes everything, give that a try

Read the new Invincible and ASM. Both pretty good reads, a much more low key Invincible issue this time, setting up the way both Mark and the world is changing. Spider Island still seems pretty good, some nods to old villains as well which I always like. I could still use less of Carlie in this title though and not just because I prefer Mary Jane. She just seems a bit of a meh character to me, despite their attempts to flesh her out a bit since they started dating.

We'd finally got one of those phantom pages the bigger threads get so its best to just start a new one.

The actual game itself is good, ive got the 360 version but just not got too far into it. Hopefully the PC one will get some patches to fix the problems.
