World of Light is only good in short bursts. It gets far too samey, but thankfully there are so many other modes to play.
-
Daemon X Machina would also be a nice, adult-ish title for February, and we have actually seen gameplay for it at E3. Great shout!
-
Pokémon in September and not November? *gasp*
-
Metroid would indeed would be a very strong contrast to Mario in January, so fingers crossed. I don't know if it matters, but that would mean two ports in two months as the big first party releases on Switch.
-
But the little we've seen of Fire Emblem is a lot more than we've seen of anything else, no? For all we know, any of the expected 2019 line up could be ready by February. I'd be very surprised if Luigi's Mansion 3 isn't coming out in October - Halloween plus one year since the last release in the series.

Ahead of the inevitable early January Direct, what are everyone's best guesses for Nintendo's first party games for February and March? The only two games we have seen gameplay for are Yoshi's Crafted World and Fire Emblem: Three Houses, so I would think they will be first to be released. However, Yoshi is genre-wise a bit too similar to New Super Mario Bros. Deluxe U so I can see that coming in March at the earliest. It's also not really a big system-seller or AAA title. I think Fire Emblem might be a good bet for February for a bit of variation, and it's a big release (especially for Japan) which would try to help the Switch get to 20 million units before the end of the fiscal year. Then Yoshi in March.

I wonder if Smash Ultimate has any chance of landing the Xmas Number One? We'll probably find out on Monday after seeing how well it sold in week two. Red Dead seems to be selling pretty consistently and is on more than one more format, so I wouldn't bet against that. -
Decided to make Ike my main but got crushed in several online matches. Went back as Kirby, who I have been playing as since the N64, and won every match. But I'm so bored of playing as him!

Switch games aren't designed to be played with a GameCube controller, is what I meant.
-
I would say yes, because unlike the GameCube controller, it's designed for almost all Switch games and it is a more technically advanced controller.
-
I think Phoenix Wright and/or Professor Layton are good guesses for the DLC. There will likely be a female character in the remaining four as well, but who?

Surely the Switch has a good chance of getting to 20 million this fiscal year now. New Super Mario Bros. Deluxe U will also be a huge software seller in January (particularly big for casuals) and then there should be first party Nintendo games coming in February and March as well, though we won't know what they are until the January Direct. -
I don't really understand the GameCube controller thing for Smash. Sure, it was a good controller, but isn't the Switch Pro controller even better?

I haven't tried Spirits Board yet, been pretty addicted to World of Light today. Am I able to unlock characters in Spirits Board? Got about 22 left to go and they're starting to kick my ass now!

It was the only game I played at EGX that I didn't enjoy. -

https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2018-12-09-uk-charts-super-smash-bros-ultimate-is-the-fastest-selling-smash-bros-of-all-time Ultimate is over 300% up on Smash 4! And even more so when you take digital downloads into account. -
The fans on Twitter were doing my head in all year going on about Smash constantly and pretty much ignoring every other great game that has come out on the Switch this year. But I have to admit, they were right. This is the best game to appear on the Switch in 2018, though I do think it is a significant step up from the last few entries in the series.

Stayed up for the show and thoroughly enjoyed it. My first time watching but I was really impressed with the production, it really did feel like a large scale and important event and the gaming equivalent to the Oscars. Despite there being no Metroid or Zelda etc., it was a great night for Nintendo if you put all of the Nintendo-related announcements together. I'll watch it again next year as long as I'm not working or anything.

Very interested to see the sales figures for Smash Ultimate. Obviously it will go to number one in the UK but I imagine it is massively up on Smash 4 for Wii U. A vastly higher install base and I haven't witnessed so much hype for a game since Super Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild. -
Most people seem to prefer stock rules, is that right? I prefer time rules myself, but I guess it isn't so different.

That was fun! Thanks guys.

I'll be up for joining the arena in about 20 minutes or so, after eating. Tried and failed to get one going with the friends I know IRL. Been playing this game most of the day and can't believe how much I love it. A Smash Bros game hasn't clicked with me in this way since the first one on N64.

Thanks!!!

n00b question here. I've modified my preferred controls and set it to a username 'Tim'. But how do I actually use these controls in battle? I can't see an option to choose this when I go into the Smash mode. Basically I can't deal with B not being jump...
-
Reaction to the World of Light seems a bit mixed and it seems most review scores have been given out without trying the online mode. I'll probably jump into the classic mode first just to re-familiarise myself with things. Only a few hours to go and I'm busy until then. Can't wait!
