Anyway, upon re-reading my own post just now, I understand how it can come across as just another one of those "doom-sayers". Not at all, I'm not saying Nintendo is going bankrupt anytime soon. I'm just thinking about how will this new audience behave in the next generation.

Actually, no, that was meant for the other dude. I used to be a fanboy too. I evolved into a fan now, though. I love Nintendo, but I don't eat their shit or wipe their ass anymore. I don't do that for anyone or any company. I never said they did, that was a totally different part of the post with a different quote... Yeah, and I'm interested in seeing what happens in the next generation. To elaborate, Nintendo are marketing aggressively toward... well, what word can I use if not "casual"? I don't mean it in an "elitist" way, it's just real. They are targeting casual players in force this gen, but what will happen next gen? They could release a Wii 2, but to be honest I don't see these current casuals emptying their pockets for Wii 2. The gamer (notice I don't use harcore here) plays games because it's a hobbie, not a trend. They always want different and better games, just like a bricolage adept wants better tools. Now, these majority of Wii owners, how will they see a Wii 2? Will buy it all over again? Or just think "meh, I got that already". Nintendo is making a lot of money this gen with the Wii, and has always made a lot of money with the handhelds, but I think the strategy will cease to work next gen. Fortunately, they'll have lots of profit to concentrate on the core gamer (I see the word "core" with a different meaning than the word "hardcore") again. But of course, they are a business, so they will want to maintain this gen's level of profit, so maybe they'll keep targeting the same audience. I'm just wondering how will they make it work, how will they make the majority of the current audience buy another one. These are people that buy the console not because of Nintendo's history, but because of advertising. Using motion controls felt fresh and cool 2 years ago. It still is, if well implemented (which is rare). But will those people think it's cool all over again next gen? The core Nintendo gamer (the fans and the fanboys) will buy Wii 2, even if only for the usual 3 major franchises. So, will Wii 2 be a another Gamecube or another Wii (in terms of audience)? I'm curious about that and only time will tell.

And the other one? Apparently, Wii Fit outsold Halo 3. That's just wow.... Just stop being fanboys, it's common knowledge that the core gamer is a small percentage of the Wii gamer (like I said, 50 million core gamers?) and asking for figures of that is being a stuborn fanboy.

Yep, sales figures for Wii Play and Wii Fit. You mean the 50 million core players?

No, because Navi doesn't speak for you. Link does speak, you just don't hear what he says, but the characters respond to him, not to Navi. When you interact with anyone in Okami, who does the talking? It's Issun. Ami does not speak at all. Hence why I said (and I emphasize the relevant parts now) "in speech matters, he is the main character cause he does all your talking."
-
I expected this kind of reply, but Amaterasu doesn't speak and Issun is always with you. So for all purposes, in speech matters, he is the main character cause he does all your talking.
-
I actually stopped playing this... I'm about 35 hours in and the game is getting pretty boring and especially annoying. I've lost all my patience to endure Issun's stupid comments. And I shared King V's enthusiasm when I started the game. Man, the writing is pretty poor in Issun! On top of all the sex jokes, which get old after 5 minutes, he speaks as if I'm stupid, spelling out all the story details as if I were 4 years old. Also, he IS stupid and dumb, he doesn't get himself most of the game refferences and just acts like a tough guy, not getting what's going on "behind the scenes". Issun is probably the most annoying character I've ever seen in any game! And he's the main character in Okami! I just about gave up on Okami because of the annoyance factor. I played Disaster in stead and then moved on to the 360, presently playing Fallout 3. But it's too bad cause Okami's story is actually pretty good, if the writing wasn't so fucking annoying. By writing I mean the style chosen, so no, I'm not contradicting myself, story can be good with bad writing. PS: Oh, and King V, whatever you do, DO NOT buy the Fleetfoot technique at the Dojo, it is not needed and will just fuck up your nunchuck controls, it will be extremely sensitive to the slightest tilt and can make Ami roll out of control at inapropriate times.

Your mom has very bad taste!

1 or 2 more hours and you will enter my favourite area of the game. Enjoy.

Who is that blond ghostbuster in the first pic? For a moment there I thought they had made all 4 ghostbusters white, until I saw Winston Zeddmore in the last pic.

http://wii.ign.com/articles/964/964048p1.html That's a bold statement. There are some nice screens, though, which might back it up a little. This one is particularly impressive for the facial features: That kind of face is very similar to what you see in Half Life 2, which has some amazing faces. However, the texturing of his clothes is very last gen. Those suspenders lack a sense of 3D, they just look drawn on the jacket. But I repeat, that face is spectacular!

Well, I'm not too knowledgeable either in computer programming, but I don't think it would be possible to make a sphere so big that you wouldn't notice it to be a sphere, as you said. Take Oblivion's game world, for example, it's massive and it is said to be somewhere around 41 km^2. Take that surface area and apply it to a sphere and that sphere would have only a 1,8 km radius. My point being that Oblivion's world, gigantic as it is, would seem a lot smaller if it were spherical rather than flat. I don't think what you propose is possible on the HD systems, let alone on the Wii. It's a good idea, though.

Just finished it and my impressions aren't any better now, in fact, they're worse. It really is an average game to be bought at budget price. It could've been better, but it's just underwhelming in the end. It was a good idea that didn't turn out very exciting. The game stages are mostly boring and not interactive, makes it feel very old gaming, something out of the 90's. The game does feel very much like Metal Gear Solid, the first one, but the story isn't as compelling. Small playable sections broken up by somewhat long cut-scenes, but lackluster cut-scenes at that.

I saw a video on Youtube that seemed to me like when you are playing joinable solo mode and someone joins the game breaks up and goes into a loading screen saying "your partner isn't ready yet". Can someone who has already experienced it elaborate on this? Does the game load if someone joins? I ask because Gears of War 1 and 2 don't break up, if someone joins you don't even notice it if not for a small font text that appears saying someone just joined.

Here's the bedroom footage, for those who never got to see it:

I second this opinion. What's this idea now that games must always be different? More of the same, please, at least 2 more games this same way, then change again.

It works on the mutated form too, the knife is incredibly fast at killing Krauser.
-
Krauser = knife, actually.

Yeah, that's the one, The Calling, thanks Prodigy. So, I reckon there's no new info on that, then.... It just popped into my head suddenly today, as I was thinking of Fatal Frame 4.
-
I'm sure some of you will remember a video of a japanese horror game that was posted here some months ago. It was NOT Fatal Frame 4, it was in first person, not sure if on rails or point-and-click, and had a scene in a bedroom and another scene in a classroom and seemed like a pretty scary game. Can anyone identify it? I don't remember the name and can't find thread in which it was posted... Thanks in advance.

Not at all, just pick up and play, really. In fact, the game pretty much ignores RE's legacy, just mentioning something here and there. Besides, I think as the game begins, you get a bit of backstory, something like some title cards about past games' main events (Spencer Mansion incident and Raccoon City incident). Don't worry about that, you won't have a problem getting into it.

I think an eventual RE6 should have more puzzles than RE4 did. Keep the same gameplay, but add more action breaks with some puzzles. A good example to look at would be Half Life 2. I just completed that this month in the Orange Box (along with its Episodes) and thought the balance between action FPS and puzzle solver was great. RE6 should be something like that, they would keep the fast action introduced in RE4 but there should be breaks in between with puzzles to solve in order to advance. Making a shorter game with no puzzles is definitely not the way to go... Definitely in agreement.

What a stupid little gadget. "Jogging" in place is a lame idea anyway (because it's not "jogging", it's jumping with one leg and then with the other, there is no forward propulsion as is required for running or jogging) let alone having to do it to play videogames. Just get a rope and skip rope, damnit, it's more fun. The more time passes, the more I become convinced that this is not the future of gaming.

Finally started this game last night. I bought it last October but I also bought a 360 last November, so I have been busy with that. Anyway, played this for about 5 hours last night and cleared the first 8 stages. I could have cleared more stages but I found out you can spam the hell out of the shooting galleries for "free" BP and so I did the Beginner's Shooting Gallery at least 50 times and bought and upgraded lots of weapons! I'm enjoying the game, it's a nice B-game, not A-list material though. The story is a shameless rip-off of The Rock, the Michael Bay film. I really liked the driving sections (except the one where you drive towards the camera, wtf??), the controls are perfect in those, really responsive. The steering, the handbrake, the POV from behind the wheel, all perfect. In contrast to the smoothness of controlling a car, controlling Ray feels very clunky and his jumps are pathetic. The on rails battle scenarios are pretty good, the aiming works well here too and I like the "focus" feature, press C to zoom in and do double the damage! As a catch you also suffer double the damage in this mode, which balances it out. Pretty good idea. The RPG-like upgrades add a bit of thought into the game management and weapon upgrades work pretty much like they did in RE4. The only thing badly executed, IMHO, is Ray's controls, he feels very clunky and his footsteps sound a bit wrong. Other than than that, the shooting and the driving are excelent, and the rescues are a nice touch. All in all, it's a nice game to buy at a budget price, I bought it almost full price back in October at Amazon (£35 = €44) but I don't think it's worth full price. It's a good one to pick up for about €20 though.

Shit, that whole "only one save slot" is lame. First time I saw it was in Gears of War 1 and Epic fixed that for the sequel, GeOW 2 having 3 save slots. Now Capcom wants to make RE so badly into GeOW that they only include one save slot for RE5, when RE4 had 20?? What a backwards company they fucking are.
